Nice “cottage”. You’re not in Buffalo anymore… winter comes early 😂. What a cool little model airplane. Jared to believe they didn’t want electricity there, just shows how great someplace can be without having things we think are absolutely necessary. Oh and thought for sure you would break out singing Love Boat 😂.
I chuckled too about the whole term cottage. Then I started thinking about how they used to refer to the Newport Mansions at cottages. 😁 I was going to start singing the Love Boat theme, but there were too many people around and I didn't want to scare anyone. 🤣
It's actually the only national park of two nations in the world, in fact. It's jointly run by both nations and from what I've read, it's run by someone from the UK! LOL. ;)
Electricity or not, the Roosevelt Cottage would be an awesome place to spend a bunch of time. That's an interesting point about the height of lighthouses. I wonder if it has to do with topography? The taller ones seem to be further south, where the land is flat. And maybe all the hills and bluffs in the north contribute a good portion of the needed elevation. And it's always fun to hear that closing music. #ClassicUH
I can only imagine how cool it would have been to spend the entire summers there. Not having electricity may even give it a very rustic feeling. I did noticed that all of the lighthouses were on elevated bluffs which could explain the lack of height. Still very beautiful to see!!!!
Cool video Heavy! I could sit on the balcony and look at the ocean all day, it’s a beautiful view! Interesting that they didn’t have electric all those years. And I love the sun over the lighthouse, nice job filming!
We never heard of this place! Nice! Love the history! Thanks for putting it on the map for us!
If your travels bring you up near Acadia, it's worth the couple hours out!!!
Great video!
Thank you so much!!!
Never made it that far east on our trips to Maine. My Mother in law had relatives that lived in the Machias area.
It was a bit of a road trip, even from Acadia. But, it's a really nice drive and the views once you get there are so totally worth it!
