Probably because the Supreme Court decided these matters should be left to the states to decide and that they shouldn't pass anything on it federally

@@edwardjohnson4172 If you are against dying babies I'd highly recommend working towards a health care system where all pregant women have free/avordable access to prenatal medical care. The US has the highest maternal mortality of any developed country which is obviously related to a higher newborn mortality/stillborn rate to the degree that pregnant foreigners are warned against travelling to the US because of poor care there. ❤

Access to safe abortion is far from secure. I'm not an attorney or legal expert, but here are the bullet points:
    * MOST abortions in the US are currently medical abortions using mifepristone.
    * Mifepristone ALSO used for the treatment of miscarriage, as is misoprostol, the other medication often used in conjunction with mife.
    * @acog_org and all the major medical societies have opposed political interference in FDA regulation of medications. Decisions about medication safety and regulation should be a scientific one that is free of partisan influence, which would be unethical in the extreme. Imagine if a lawmaker who "didn't believe in" chemotherapy, diabetes medication, Viagra (!) could prevent *everyone* in the country from accessing them. 😳
    * This SCOTUS decision was decided based on standing: these particular anti-abortion doctors don't actually prescribe mife, they're not being harmed by it, so they have no standing to bring a suit. But access to mife is not actually protected from other attacks, such as...
    * Invocation of the Comstock Act from the 1870's, which bans the mailing and dissemination of "lewd" materials such as birth control and p0rnography. 😳 Conservatives have called for its enforcement to ban mifepristone, and Trump has not confirmed what he plans to do RE Comstock.
    * The Commissioner who leads the FDA is a position appointed by the President. Leadership within the FDA itself could change with a new administration.
So PLEASE stay up to date on these issues, and VOTE! 🗳✔️

“Safe”? There’s nothing safe about getting these in the mail and doing it alone at your house without a physician ever setting eyes on you or even dating your pregnancy.

Calling any abortion "safe" misleads women and that misinformation affects people's perception of how "harmless" having an abortion is. You're just hurting people, but I assume that doesn't matter to you and the partisan defense of anything involving abortion is more important than making sure people are informed of what could happen. No abortions are safe.

Mayo Clinic says anxiety is a possible, but uncommon mifepristone side effect. But, the alternative - 9 months of unwanted/non-viable pregnancy, labor (not a cakewalk), and possibly even parenting an unwanted child - can be psychologically devastating, so it’s important to think of the trade-off.

Condoms can fail, even birth control isn't 100% reliable. And nobody should be forced to be pregnant when they don't want to be. It does put enormous strain on the body even when you have a good pregnancy experience. So of course people are up in arms over abortions, they're literally vital healthcare.
Sad you don't mind risking the mother's health or life because of your ignorance. Teach people to mind their own damn business and we wouldn't have to fight over this crap!!!!!

you mean like how sex ed in republican-led states is about only teaching absitence which doesn't fucking work and just leads to teens having more sex?
Good thinking there. Why don't you take accountability and actually read studies about how to prevent abortions from having.
Which is extensive sex-ed education, safe and easy access to medical centres where people can access healthcare.

    • @notadvertiserfriendly6084
      @notadvertiserfriendly6084 3 месяца назад

Sad part *actually* is, the same people who oppose abortion often want to limit access to contraception availability and education. There have been cases of Christian Fundamentalist pharmacy employees refusing to honor birth control prescriptions due to the pharmacy employee’s religious views. Not the abortion pill or Plan B, but “Plan A,” birth control.
These people want to restrict abortion, but they also want to restrict methods of preventing pregnancy. Sounds like they just want people to not have PIV sex…
…but… telling people “Don’t have sex” or even “Don’t do (one specific sex act)” _never_ works. Just look at what happened back when HIV - which can be _sexually_ transmitted - was a certain death sentence. People still had unprotected sex. You can’t stop people from having sex. It won’t work. People will have sex anyway.

I don't care if you are for or against anything, the big issues like this are always "decided by the election" and then never changed. People need to stop voting for party lines and start actually looking into the people you are voting for and deciding if they themselves seem like someone that would fight for your "issues" and then hold them accountable if they don't.

You still might not agree, but you'd understand doctors who do the saving are telling us they need tools to manage pregnancies that go wrong. I listen to the person who uses the tools. Sometimes a woman can't stay pregnant physically. Miscarriages are common and pregnancy is too frequently fatal without intervention. Sepsis is a horrible way to die. Just don't make laws so strict it kills mothers doctors could save. That's very anti-life.

@@andromedaspark2241 No one is arguing that a child in the womb that has already died can't be removed. There is not a single abortion ban in the entire country that says that and no anti-abortion advocates would agree with that.
