hello, We were under AP for 55 days, after submitting DS-5535, the embassy called 55 days later so my wife, me and my daughter submit passports for visa to be issued, but my 19 year son is still under AP,
both my wife and son were requested to fill ds-5535, yet after 55 days my wife was issued the visa. Initially during the interview, the officer reassured my son not to worry since he was accepted in the university in the US, and she told him to defer the entrance to spring, since the interview occured in september. please can you tell me if it is normal to separate a son from his family this way? visa will expire in february , so travelling is a must and my son will be left behind alone. today my son has been 5 months and 3 days under AP. P.S we are on an F4 immigration visa thanks
Mazen--thanks for sharing your story. I think that the way the consulate treated you is absolutely horrible. As a father and a husband, I can't imagine my wife and boy being separated. No, it is absolutely not normal. You only have 2 choice: keep waiting or file a mandamus lawsuit to fight back. I'm a big fan of lawsuit. No one should put up with Administrative Processing. It's not right. It's not fair. And it's not legal. The consulate must finish processing of your visa application within a reasonable period of time. They can't just sit on your visa and make you wait forever.

The interview officer gave me the congratulations paper nd said you'll get ur visa in 2 weeks, but Sir i didn't get any update, nd my status online shows, it's in administrative processing where as my brother in law got his status issued within 3 days nd now he has his passport in hand with visa. My visa Catagory is K1 (Fiance ) nd my brother in law also have K1 visa, both of us gave interview on the same date nd same time. Please help us in this regard.
