Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, Virginia

Richmond has a wonderful museum administered by the state that is of the same caliber as any national level museum. The Virginia Fine Arts Museum is on par with any of the museums of the Smithsonian Institution. Late June 2021 I went here and of all the museums and art galleries I have been to these past few months this one is the most charming and in tune with my interests. The main draw for me was the expansive collection of ancient Roman art and artifacts. There seemed to be such a vast historical and geographical array of exhibits that whatever era or region you fancy, this magical place has something on display that will rival the displays of a museum dedicated to that particular subject. What other museum has works by Thomas Benton and also a mummy in a sarcophagus!

Thank you very much. This is one of the best and most well displayed museums I have ever been to. In terms of quality it is on par with any of the Smithsonian museums in D.C.
