@@501ststormtrooper9 okay, don't say I didn't warn you, so the male ducks are very aggressive and not above raping female ducks, the females don't like that for various reasons, one of which being that they don't get to choose the most physically fit partner, so evolution comes into play.
The female ducks then evolved a corkscrew vagina which would make rape harder, then the male ducks evolved a giant (like their entire bodylength giant) corkscrew dick, they even evolved barbs that make it harder for the female to escape
Now the vagina twists the other way to make unrequited entry even more difficult, but the male's penis can now rapidly expand in a variety of shapes (there are videos out there with glass tubes and such) and now the females have evolved dead ends inside in hope of not getting impregnated by an inferior male.

No fighting for a mate. No wooing the females. No worrying about food. Being a male anglerfish is pretty great. You get to permanently fuse with your lover, who accepts you just for what you are, and then you peacefully transition into oblivion.

The title actually raises an interesting question on ethics. Based on general human ethical thinking, being a male angler fish WOULD suck. Tiny, bottom of the foodchain, would basically die after having children. But would it be fair to say that being a male anglerfish sucks from a male anglerfish perspective? I mean, it's bottom of the food chain but, it has a purpose. It finds a female and breeds. They obviously have the instinct to do it so, there must be some type of happiness response there, so is the anglerfish happy? Perhaps they are even happier on average than humans. Humans live to survive, Anglerfish live to die. There's a finite end goal which provides an ultimate happiness response. No doubt, no asking questions, simply acting out it's purpose. So, does being a male anglerfish truly suck?

I can only say that he sucks in the literal sense.
No, from "general human ethical thinking", it's great to be a male anglerfish. From bad, uncareful ethical thinking, you might think it sucks.
The male anglerfish doesn't have to be handsome, it doesn't have to be smart or popular or motivated or otherwise gifted. It is accepted just for what it is and it only has to come across one female. If it doesn't, the worst thing that happens is that it simply dies. If it finds a female, it's immediately accepted and fuses with it's lover and eventually peacefully transitions into oblivion.
I can hardly think of an animal that has it better than a male anglerfish.
