AGS did an awful job engaging with creators. They randomly selected non-NW creators for certain marketing pushes who insta-dropped the game as soon as they got paid, rather than work together for long term growth and success.
Several PVP content creators offered FREE time to work with AGS on balancing and suggestions for content. To my knowledge, none of those were ever contacted.
AGS had no innovation when it came to working with creators. They just went with old outdated models that simply didn't stick. Now, what's happened since? Most of the creators have abandoned the game and moved onto new ventures. Guy's like Danneh, Ploj, Mika, Jay etc have all moved on because AGS chose to ignore them mostly. People like Ploj knew the game inside and out and had big community support, why were they never engaged? Yet again, another example of AGS incompetence and failure.
Duke, amazing content my guy. Really hope you land on your feet with a game, you are too good for this dumpster fire of a game

I personally sat on the top 12 streamers for nw for months. Myself nor even streamers ahead of me got contacted. It's a shame how they handled those that were pretty loyal and offered the community plenty of information.

Any employee who joined the New World team in 2023 or later was being set up to fail. The project seems to be constantly behind schedule and under-resourced, and the game's terrible reputation has already been cemented into the minds of nearly every gamer who would possibly be interested in such an MMO.
How do you support content creators for a game with no meaningful content for extended periods of time? How can they create an organic community for a game that is all-in on the console port, when the console launch is 4+ months away and the beta is delayed (and is 'confidential' anyways)?
These are all just impossible tasks, but I can imagine AGS leadership hiring some poor person and telling them on Day 1, "make this trailer go viral!"
New World was the peak and valley of pc gaming for me as I built my first one in 2021…it hurts. Thankful that it put me on to the genre tho. Good luck to this next generation.
They need to bring back whoever was in charge of creating the first trailer, and was responsible for the first quality of life changes like using inventory while moving, azoth cost reductions, and the ability to get rid of the opr ban when there was connection issues that led to dcs in OPR. I am certain that person no longer works for AGS as after the first few months of somewhat decent updates they completely changed their approach, closed forums and became very selective with what questions they answered
This decision make the rising 70k active players at the time drop down to less than 20k and its continued to fall all the way down to 3k active. This alone should have been a sign something was wrong, yes they lost 1 mil players, but they had a steady comeback for a while then completely stopped trying and shit on their player base, and ruined the game we all once loved.
Im certain that there is a narcissist at the top somewhere who is driving this game into the ground, taking feedback about the game personally and refusing to answer questions or make changes that they feel insult their work.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS, is the problem. This is the major problem in todays economics. Seriously we all need to start being more aware of who actually run these companies and that is the people who are on the Board of Directors. Stop and take a few minutes to google a few companies' Board of Directors and you will see just who is keeping the world fucked up.
Its not just the B.O.Ds, the Chairman also. They're the ones that actually run the entire company plus they control the B.O.Ds and make & allow shady decisions and practices too.
Dunno how high it is, but there's definitely something rotten near the top of AGS. Every game they touch has issues and weirdness and constant delays

Scott does make decisions and say things, but like this video highlights, even he may not be in full control of what he does for his job. As much as I loathed the news that would often come out of his mouth, after working in a 1000+ staff IT Company myself, its clear to see he's likely not the only one to get blamed for NW's blunders
All they had to do was add more OPR maps. Improve rewards for OPR/3v3/Influence races. Then bide their time while working on pve content.
Why was the 3v3 queue dead? Broken balance and on top of that dogwater rewards. If you could have attained BiS pieces in any of the pvp mentioned people would have kept doing it and thrived.
Instead they offered trash tier updates that would get pushed back then released while still being broken. REPEATEDLY.
'Hands tied behind their backs' and being 'setup for success' seems like a contradictory message.
*Scot SHOULD take the blame for New World’s short comings. That’s the burden of command; and if he’s not in command, they should change his title credits.
You're right insofar that by design, his role is in fact the one to take the blame. I meant to say that it's impossible to know if he's the one responsible, when he could be just as frustrated with decisions being made above his head.
I reckon there's amazon suits above him that are tying his hands as well. He clearly cares for the game and wants it to do well, but can't get the manpower needed to expand the team to actually run the game like an MMO with a quarterly season content model.
You’re giving Scot too much credit. There’s no hidden boogeyman in the closet. Scot made his choices about the game’s direction and here we are.
@@chunkycat5296 Sure, I have issues with Scot's direction and choices, but the fundamental issues of bugs and content creation don't ring to me to be a problem of direction, but of manpower. When AGS consistently have to delay stuff and are unable to catch all bugs coming in, it's far more likely their QA department isn't sufficient, and that they don't have a large enough team to tackle bugs, both new and old. And considering what we know of Amazon, them being stingy with hiring budget is totally believable.
@@ciknay547 Or, and I know this might sound crazy, but maybe, just MAYBE, this team of devs behind New World is THE MOST INCOMPETENT team behind a game in a LONG time.

Soooo.. essentially confirmed what a lot if us already new. AGS are just another group of "money first" publishers who hamstring real designers at the expense of the product quality, resulting in another failed game.
Usually in toxic environments when one leaves others start looking for other opportunities. Problem is the market is flooded with game devs looking for work so this may be one of those times where that does not happen.

Content creators are not everything, but for sure they can drive hype and increase sales and increase participation. Many are absolutely great marketers. I watch Twitch streamers a bunch and I see it every day. They can give players good reasons to try a game, if the game is worth it. New World has been sadly neglected; streamers who put their faith into the game have had a rough time. Amazon needs to help them out with both a better game and more reasons to keep streaming it. Thumbs up for great videos.

New World is the biggest “What could’ve been” mmo. Such a dang shame it’s at 2.6k players. I’ve also never seen a dev team regurgitate a reworked MSQ multiple times and call it “content”

Watching tge gameplay in this video makes me hate the game.
The PvP in NW is just horrible. Its all about pulling, rooting and stunlocks. Its all just a cat and mouse gameplay of do dmg and chase, take dmg and run.
An enemy looks at you the wrong way and you already lose momentum and are slowed to a crawl. Makes me wish it finally dead every time 😂

If there is ONE THING that NW does amazingly well, is PVP combat. No RNG, no P2W, no gear > skill.
@0skillsPVP the fact that you can get stuck in place by simple light attacks Is laughably bad.
The combat is amazing in theory, but it's programmed so badly it fails... especially after the "combat update" that made it even worse. You rubberband all over the place.
People don't really make it any better though. All OPRs and races are just people zergs targeting one or two players. 1v1 though?? It's actually decent
Tell me you have never done end game pvp without telling me you have never done end game pvp. Some of the funnest high skill gap pbp in any mmo ever. It's literally the only reason people are still logging into the game, even if it is just war logging

I personally think all creators should go away. they do not do anything positive for society. get outside and get a job before its too late.
It’s all company greed we can all agree it’s gonna be another cash grab for console release with limited and minor updates till it dies again then they will rinse repeat it on the Nintendo platform 😅
So hopefully he have teached the guys above that they can't treat the team like this with hands tied and the next one will get better oppotunities.
I hope all the people who plan on buying this game on console see these videos and stay away from AGS. Deep down I want New World to succeed but I know that wont happen.
@mattyice19982 exactly so, my friend. Took me two weeks to finally accept the fact that NW is fucked. No other game has combat like it. There is a plethora of games that have the same combat of WoW but not NW.
It definitely won't if there isn't a steady revenue stream. Console players NEED to buy it and so do new PC users.
We dont even need interview like this, we already knew management and director is mess😂 also why u talk about some guy making videos, i thought it was actual dev. Everyone knows working for Amazon is worst job u can imagine. I thought it applies only for werehouses, but looks like it is shit aswell.
Maybe you and the other great NW creators should focus on the 2 expansions in other MMOs.

Max's prior post about creating a creator program that helps boost creators and create a tighter bond between the creator and the game company would be a huge marketing campaign that would pay off if done correctly.
Consoles? Lol. The appeal of PC is literally easy access to MMORPG games. Now they are trying to shift into easy cash grab like many other game creators.

This Is a hard puzzle to solve on one hand the launch of the game would have not been big without shroud being paid to play but I agree without home grown streamers the game won't have longevity
You do great job with majority of your videos BUT still i don't find it cool that you put Max on the spot with some rumors to trigger a response..
I had no intention of triggering a response from him and I especially didn't expect one mentioning my on Linkedin - though I'm glad about that response. I only speculated as to what may have happened based on the info that was available to me at the time. Given that he had never acknowledged my existence prior to that video despite me frequently posting New World content, I fully expected him to never even hear about the previous video either, so I was very surprised to hear he responded.
The people that Amazon laid off are probably the ones that actually cared the most and wanted to fix this mess.
