- Today I can present to YOU some pure exhaust SOUND footage of the all-new 2017 Ferrari 488 Spider (convertible version of the 488 GTB) which was provided to us by The Drivers Club Germany (link in the description down below). This car features an all-new 3.9 liter Twin-Turbo V8 delivering a mind-blowing 670 hp and 760 Nm of torque through the rear wheels. As I had been driving the predecessor 458 Italia I can definitely say that this is a whole different league considering grip, sound and performance! Luckily we were able to shoot even more footage which we will be able to share within the next days, also shown the V8-Turbo spitting out epic flames and sparks :) Please make sure to LIKE / COMMENT / SUBSCRIBE! Sounds very good! This engine actually sounds better as the time passes! Now it sounds less restricted! When it was launched, it sounded more muffled, more muted!

Sounds way better than I remembered it sounding back when it came out! It honestly sounds a bit deeper and growlier than the F430 or 458. And I'm sure it's a somewhat smoother more functional car than either of those two.

@@tbn22 except the f8 essentially has the same engine as the 488. Literally the only thing holding the sound back is the particulate filter, which is out of Ferrari’s control

I met a Ferrari F488 spider in person some months ago. This car is a fucking beauty
Two of these were at the hotel I work at very recently. I know il get backlash for this but this car really doesn’t sound good. The 458 and F430 sounded great but the addition of the turbochargers and the restrictions regarding exhaust emissions really strangled the V8 Ferrari’s after the 458.

How did you manage to have the exhaust valves open all time? Usually when you start the engine up on this car the valves close right on the next seccond as you start it. Is this a new feature for the new 488's? I'm pretty curious! ;D
Aye bro it might have taken you 4 years to get a reply but I think its because it has an active exhaust so he can open the exhaust or close it anytime.
Sei mal ehrlich, findest du, dass der Wagen nach einem 300.000€ Ferrari klingt, den man am Sonntag mal aus der Garage holt, um eine schöne Tour zu machen? Ich habe ihn noch nicht in echt gehört, aber der Klang scheint wirklich nicht Ferrari-typisch zu sein. Versteh mich nicht falsch, natürlich klingt er "gut" und ist im Vergleich zu anderen Fahrzeugen auch laut, aber es geht ja um den Vergleich mit 458 Italia / Speciale und den Supersportlern anderer Hersteller.
+Tim Wolke Ja...das Ding ist der Wahnsinn, wir haben den direkten Vergleich zum 458 und 458 Speciale hören können und das Klangspektrum des 488 ist deutlich größer. Klar, der Speciale schreit lauter, aber in der Realität hat der 488 einen solch bassigen und schneidenden Ton, dass man nicht wieder zurück will😬😅
Das kann ich mir gut vorstellen. Viele finden Turbos soundtechnisch zwar doof, aber unterm strich können sich vom Klangspektrum her mehr bieten. Grade dieses Geschreie bei vielen Saugern muss man mögen.
Da find ich nen feineren und etwas leiseren Sound besser aber Laut und teilweise blechern/scheppernd.
Beispiel: 6,3 V8 gegen 5.5 BiTurbo AMG
Die 6,3er klingen ohne Frage geil, aber der 5.5er machts für mich zumindest noch souveräner als de Sauger.
+Captain Awesome Absolut! Und die bassigen Töne kommen auf Videos naturbedingt nicht so schön rüber wie die hohen, metallischen....sprich in der Realität klingt der Turbo besser, auf dem Handy tendenziell der Sauger😉
Hab erst nur Videos vom 488 GTB gesehen und dachte der klingt schlechter als seine Vorgänger, bis ich ihn in echt gehört habe auf dem Cars and Coffee. Jetzt bin ich überzeugt, dass der richtig gut klingt!!
Tim Wolke ich hab beide in echt gehört, nur als Gt- Wagen und ich kann dir sagen, der Sound vom 488 zum 458 ist ein Witz! Der 458 hat allen Fahrzeugen was vor gemacht beim Sound, wie ein alter Formel 1 Wagen hörte er sich an. Jetzt wird nur noch der 488 eingesetzt:(.

Der Turbosound ist so heiser, beim runterschalten zu wenig Drehzahl. Ich hasse den Sound von Turbo Motoren.
Der 458 Speciale ist mein Lieblings Ferrari Sound.

Never understand when people don't like the sound of the 488, what's a turbo V8 supposed to sound like? Most N/A cars pick up like an old power station and must be kept at a near death experience level to enjoy everything about them.

This car sounds absolutely amazing. I think it both looks and sounds better than the 458. Compare this sound to the horrendous F8 which sounds like a Mazda MX-5... There really is no need to get an F8 when you can have this instead.
I personally prefer the 458, but the 488 is gorgeous and sounds great too!

When it's not being reved out, all the other times it sounds like a Truck that has been abused and poorly maintained.
Interesting to read comments that say 488 sounds better than 458. I like the high pitched 458 sound a lot more...488 doesn't do it for me. But still a nice car.
There are better sounding Ferraris imo.
There are many Ferraris with better sound. The 488 and the California T have turbos, because of that the sound is not as good as it can be. But for a turbo engine it has a nice sound.

.. F12 has one of the worse stock exhausts of modern Ferrari's. With aftermarket exhaust it sound epic but with stock exhaust its not amazing like 599 GTO or 430 Scuderia with stock exhausts
Jort Rinket Imo it's one of the best stock sound. Same with the LaFerrari (fitted with an extra electric engine though). Yes you're right, an exhaust system like armytrix on the F12 is a big difference to stock, sounds like an F1 car. But not everyone likes big noise.

If you look away while listening, it doesn't actually sound that good. It can't with turbo's in the way. It's like when a sorta cut girl has a really nice body, it makes her a bit more cute. This sound coming from a Toyota or a Ford, same exact sound, booooo.
