on the pipe for emptying the tank cut the pipe on an angle this will stop the pipe from getting stuck to the bottom of tank when under vacuum. I ran a vacuum truck for 25 years the vacuum on the truck can pull the bottom of the tank up and seal the pipe off and stop the unloading of the tank . the angle should be about 20 t0 30 degrees.
@@livingwiththemaias missed that in the first viewing the only other advice i can give is to make sure that you have plenty of venting on the tank. we would collapse tanks without proper venting including steel and aluminum tanks.
Great job but as others mentioned you could have cut the suction tube at an angle drilled some holes in it or maybe slots. Additionally before installation and with all fittings in place - take back on the upper scupper whack a bung in the drain and fill with water to check for leaks.😀👍⛵️
So Lekker to see You Guys again .... What wonderful shots of Table Mountain, Much appreciated ..." 'n Man se hart trek so na 'n Punt " .... Keep well and stay warm and safe .... Cheers from NZ
Fourth of July BBQ looked fun and the corn on the cob looked delicious. With all of the work you two are doing please take a day of bad weather and stay in bed with popcorn, hot chocolate and a movie. You'll feel so much better when you start the new project. Take care, stay well and stay warm.
make sure you transfer the gasket from the inspection port plate to the multi access port plate. Make sure that you have a vent port on the holding tank or you collapse that tank under suction or it wont drain out the bottom without opening cap on deck. you may want to also add a small tube of pvc in through the multi access plate to allow you to agitate/ rinse tank with saltwater small pipe 1/2"to the bottom of tanks with a 90 degree on the bottom with a cap and drill several small 3-4mm holes in different directions to spray out the tank (this will be needed when the level sensor stops working)
I'm going backwards a bit... I have seen the part 2 video first. Now I want to watch a video showing pump out or is there a part 3? I'm new to the channel. 💡
Great progress. Is the freezer AC or DC? I'm sure you considered all the options, from you tube land it looks like you could squeeze a bit larger tank in that space; glad you upsized. Cheers.
sometimes its easier drilling those hole in polyethylene or abs is to run the hole saw in reverse its cuts just as well but does not grab and often leaves a smoother cut. Also on the pipe you want to keep off the bottom leave a tab of the pipe to keep it from sealing or sliding to the bottom of the tank
Another Great video. I wonder if the holding tank vent is large enough to cope with suction from the marina pump out? Or does it also vent via the toilet during pump out?
Hi Guy's what a beautiful Lady Africa, have watched your progress from the beginning. Just as a matter of interest what are the mooring fees like in Cape Town?
Happy 4th of July from the States. Do y'all cook with Sika Flex? You seem to use that for everything you fix or build on the boat. Looks like you are going to miss your window to sail west before the hurricane season.
pity you did not put the drain directly below the suction tube,so if it gets blocked you can just poke a stick down from the deck fitting to unblock it. also why fit a macerator if the tank is above the waterline, just drain to a seacock directly underneath the tank, gravity will empty it when not in use as a holding tank, closing the seacock turns it back into a holding tank.
Totally agree! Also the bottom connection should not be SS, do not know the grade of SS used, but affluent is extremely corrosive and PVC would have been the better option.
I noticed you were deburring the holes you made in the tank with a razor knife. You may not know, but there's a dedicated tool that machinists use for deburring. I have this one: www.noga.com/Products/sets/Sets%20and%20kits/NG9200/BRONZE_UNIKIT_-_NG9200 whic I saw on Amazon for $50. These things can be used for all kinds of applications and they have a carbide cutter, so they stay sharp for a long time. Of course, you can replace the cutters as they wear. You can use it on pretty much any metal, including any stainless, as well as plastics. Not so sure how well they would work on fiberglass, but worth a try. Be careful on plastics, especially nylon, as they can cut pretty deep if you give it a lot of pressure. Here it is in action: ruclips.net/video/hFSYhhPQv84/видео.html
Measure long cut twice is better than buying twice. Great video.
Very true! Thanks Ralph! 😊
Seen a lot of boats using Veetus stuff lately . Everyone nothing but praise for Veetus
They are solid products. No complaints here!
Sounds like an irish summer cold and wet
It's winter here though 😔
Your channel is going big !

cut some slots in the bottom of the pipe then it can rest on the bottom of the tank.

Freezer is AC , we could go bigger but it would have to be a custom tank

U can go to the bottom of the pipe cut a v in the bottom of the pipe
We did. 👍🏻
I would have not done the poop gauge, I would have had a way to look at the tank and see how full it is.....
what was the make of your freezer? PS love the projects!
Thank you. It's a Swiss.

Hahaha don't think that stuff tastes to good. Yeah we're not going until hurricane seasons over.
