Hot dang that was fun ! Sound was spot on too. I just watched Yoyo's upload of her performance with the Ken Okada Group at the Baked Potato in LA this weekend and on that evidence she is definitely going to become one of the best drummers in the world. No question, check it out folks.
Me too....lol I was the one that first recommended he check YOYOKA out. Also, thanks to Wave vouching for me, I was able to host YOYOKA in a couple of home stays in Las Vegas, just before and right after she moved to the states. I commissioned the YOYOKA Documentary with Wave (he did and awesome job on it!) and we timed it so it would drop, just as we were arriving at my home so we could do a first watch of it and witness YOYOKA and Aki's reaction to it. They loved it. Like Wave, a highlight of my life! BONUS: I got to meet EllenPlaysBass and attend the recording session of "The Ocean" because of YOYOKA, and found out that Ellen lived 1.5 miles from my house. I bought tickets for the Silk Sonic concert for YOYOKA and her father and got to sit next to YOYOKA and watch her bop to their music, then she had arranged for us all to meet Anderson.Paak backstage. "Good Times, NO Bad Times"....lol
I picked her up at the airport, a couple months after this, when she was 12, and was shocked how tiny she was as she was walking across towards me. What a little powerhouse!
Are you going to her 15th birthday bash in LA? Just read that Paulie Z will be there. Maybe Tom and Roman Morrello will make a surprise visit. I read that the 15th birthday is very important in Japanese culture.
Yoko played the heck out of it! I only have one critique, the snare and Tom sound was very papery/ dry or something. Could have just been a recording/ mic thing. But no complaints on the playing!!
Good catch! That was the stock heads on the new drum kit i got when she came so we could play drums together. I wasn't able to swing a fresh set of heads in time!
Request it! I paid him to do the first one....lol He did an awesome job, and we timed it so it dropped just as she arrived in Las Vegas so I could watch her, and her dad's, reaction as we watched it in my living room. Great memories! I still re-watch it on occasion.

I thought the same sounded very muted and papery. Like it was stuffed with a pillow or something. But I loved the playing! She’s great!
