Hey everybody Im super flattered by all the comments and kind words. I'll do a short tee-shirt draw/roll/what ever random method seems suitable on boxing day. The tee-shirt can be a New Year's Prize. ~thumb~
Agree about wits and wagers, it's good for people who are good at trivia, OR good at gambling. Also, Dixit might be a good alternative to Pictionary, no need to draw, rather pick a card and match a theme. Lots of fun. I think most people who aren't already into games just want to play a party game where there isn't really a 'winner', but the you win when you laugh and have a good time. Games like 'Telestrations' 'Privacy' and 'Just One' are excellent options. If you do want to give people a game that's Monopoly-esque but also not horribly awful, it's hard to beat Catan as a gateway. I really like Citadels and Splendor too. Also, I'll say that Chess is another hyper popular game, and I'm ALWAYS trying to get people to play Warchest. It's like asymmetrical chess, but you aren't able to move ANY of your pieces, and the objective is capturing control points, not a specific piece. Love that game.
@@anpinfotainment7963 thanks for the great comments. TBH, I use to think Settlers (Catan) was the obvious substitute for Monopoly. But it does not obey the rules I set my self for this. Not roll n move. No auction. Only vaguely has property development.
@@partymeeple5633 You're absolutely right, but in general, I'm not a big fan of Roll and Move, I tend to prefer games where your avatar has a set distance they can cover, and you can choose any distance under their max. I love your rules though, and Catan is way too obvious to make a RUclips video about.
@@modecom I'm sure you'll think Pictomania is a fabulous game if you use to like Pictionary. Maybe go to your local library and see if they have a copy you can try?

Not that I’ve played it but I’ve heard Fake Artist in New York might be a substitute for Pictionary.

I think of chess :)
But not really when people say "board games"...
I loved this video
I think that makes a faltering point of where your mind is at.

And what about I’m The Boss instead of Monopoly?
Oh yeah. Auctions, roll n move and property. I've even played this recently.
