Honestly the idea of Bernie being your average stuffed toy brought to life by the dark world instead of becoming something else entirely is unique for the way DELTARUNE handles things becoming darkeners. Perhaps the fact that he wears some kind of ghost sheet over him would play into his character more as due to his more dirty and "real" appearance perhaps causing other darkeners to see him as an outcast, thus why he wears the white sheet and is obsessed with hiding so much (along with the fact that as a toy, he was probably meant to be hidden around a household for a child to find).
What’s actually special about Bernie seems to actually be the music tape inside him, seemingly made by Dess. It seems to act like the Neo body, in the sense it has special powers coming from a Lightner, allowing Bernie to feel a semblance of determination.
* Bernie laughs with a childish tone. * Hide and Seek at the Lost and Found. * Bernie seems to look for something... someone. * The air crackles with freedom. * Memories.
I like the twist on his lore. The idea that he’s escaped his fate by being both a discarded concept and also one that never was truly discarded at the same time is interesting. How would that play into his character though? Would he just sound a lot more positive? Or would he be like Jevil, where he assumes he’s already in a good spot?
As seen in the video "You found me", he tricks the player into thinking that having escaped and 'not needing them anymore' (Dess for Bernie, and Asriel for Kris) is a good thing and will be their true freedom. However, Bernie actually has mixed feelings and all his acts are just a coping mechanism for finding out Dess is gone.
I can imagine Bernie's quest to encounter him involving you having to find him in various obscure locations, each time you do he will give you a hint for his next hiding spot and running off after finding him like 3 times the 4th time would be on the ferriswheel where you have to then actually fight him
I feel like to actually hit Bernie you need to get a perfect hit, but it’s abnormally hard because the orange soul makes the attack bar go fast, and how slow the blue soul makes the attack bar go. if you don’t get a perfect hit it doesn’t hurt Bernie, due to him being a stuffed toy.
I could imagine the encounter before the battle starting in a room (the Lost and Found) the Fun Gang enters, trying to hide from Bernie, who's seeking this time, with 0:00 - 0:07 on loop. Eventually, Bernie finds you, with a voiced "I found you!" before starting the battle. Edit: This would probably be with just Kris, like the other Spamton NEO fight, and being only in the weird route.
Monokuma has come to Deltarune! But in all seriousness, this is REALLY an awesome song. Love the character design here, and the editing is very original. It's some fun stuff! Props to you!!

The order they are thrown in signifies the order of the mechanics you have to follow. For exanple, he juggles three balls. The first one to be thrown in the air once he's done juggling is cyan, then it's orange, then it's cyan again. So the order in which the colours will appear in the bullet box will be cyan, orange, then cyan again. Might come up with a concept for the special attack later but idk just yet.
There are fireworks in the video, so I imagined an attack where he throws a giant firework onto the box. It explodes and release sparks that are cyan, orange, or white in random waves
I kinda have a silly idea for Bernie's talking style (I know you already made one kinda, but I can dream ok :( ). So you know how the screct bosses have a specific talking style, right? For example, Jevil speaks in riddles and Spamton has broken speech and always interprets himself. Well for Bernie, I think his talking style should be that one half of his sentences are in all caps and the other is in all lowercase. For example, "WE CAN BECOME SOMEThing even greater kris." I made this up because of Bernie's design being split between two colors and Bernie having both the Patience and Bravery soul. Love Bernie btw, he honestly become of my favorite fan secret bosses.
I feel like this concept would work well with the idea of Dess being the Roaring Knight. Having Dess making this fountain is what led to Barnie to look for his long lost friend.

Ok, I've come up with an idea for a special attack. Three Bernies would appear and dance around at high speeds, dealing contact damage. Then, they'd jump up off screen and explode into cyan, orange and white stuffing that would slowly rain down and fill the area, until a massive amount of white stuffing falls and the screen does the thing where it fades back into the battle menu.
Honestly i been having the idea that Bernie fight (while on the selection) would be you chasing them around, having to dodge the crowds with W and S, and they would enter other carnival attractions for certain attacks so i can totally see this taking place in the main stage

@@NekoTape well he’s less his own character and more a summon for another character, Willow the insane pyromaniac has a Teddy Bear in Don’t Starve Together (not the original though) that comes to life and fights nightmare creatures when Willow’s sanity gets to low. In all honesty it’s kinda a stretch because being bought to life by nightmares and insanity is very different from a dark fountain, I just desperately look for Don’t Starve references everywhere because I’m insane. Their is actually alot of strange similarities between this Burnie and the one from Don’t Starve like them both being Teddy bears linked to darkness in some way (although admittedly most things in Deltarune are and most things in Don’t Starve are)

If noelle is featured heavily in this concept, it might be interesting to give him a snow grave theme it would be cool I think it might fit this chapter
I don't understand the inunivers darkworld reason why he is discarded. Like I know Bernie was lost by Dess but I don't understand what actually hapenned in the dark world. For example jevil wasn't discarded because the joker card was powerfull but because Seam locket him for causing chaos and getting to much knoledge. Also spamton wasn't discarded by being clicked of but because he was thrown out of queen' s mansion after his buisness crashed.

I had no idea there was a character in Don't starve named Bernie. In my case it was the fusion of "Bear" and "Carnie". Neat correlation though!
