I can relate to her. I lost my period for a while when I was under weight, doing alot of cardio, & restricting my calories. I was able to now get to a healthy weight & lifestyle by reducing my cardio to only two days a week, & doing strength training 3 days a week. I also increased my protein intake as well. My period came back & mentally I feel better. I have increased my muscles & my body looks the best it's ever been at almost 40 years old.🙂

@@misskay6831 Hi, yes I lost my period for a while. At first it made me really worried, but I new it was because I was underweight. Now that I'm at a healthy weight, my period is back to normal. Give your body time now to come back to normal period schedule. If you have any questions I'm here.🙂

Lexi - I am also in Alabama! I can also relate to you but I am almost 40. I lost my period at 15 and kept over exercising and undereating until I was in my early 20’s and finally cared about my fertility and eventually got scared for my health - bone density, heart health, brain health, etc. I will spare you my long story but I will say they are so spot on. Do it. Do it now. Your future self will be so happy and thankful for each step you take today. Even though it is scary, the only way to overcome the fear is to face it and the only way to do great things is to get uncomfortable. You’ve got this! Also No Period Now What is a good book. I think the protocol they gave you will do the job but the information in the book may help motivate you.

This video has hit home so much and I think it has sparked the much needed motivation and clarity I've needed to reclaim my life after over 15 years of struggling with anorexia and overtraining. Although I'm a male, I can relate to this so much, however being male has meant that I've felt so lost and alienated in this since I'm such a minority. I've been between 4-8% body fat ever since I competed as a teenager in a bodybuilding competition and have lost over 20kg of muscle in the last 15 years due to emotional dependence on staying lean and exercising intensely for hours each day. I've been hospitalised 13 times for various scares including kidney and heart failure. I'm currently eating 3800 calories and training 3 hours a day and doing 20-30k steps. My body stopped producing testosterone (

I am much younger than you but struggle with some of the same issues as a male. Would you mind sharing about your health scares? I am currently struggling with some and am afraid of the damage I am doing to myself. My test is extremely low as well as other functions slowing also. I can relate to doubting ones own ability to cope.

@chilled1298 Thanks for reaching out man. How old are you? I had kidney failure, liver problems, fell into a coma and they couldn't wake me up for a long time. Had some heart issues too. Needed several blood transfusions to bump up my hemoglobin since my hemoglobin and most of my white blood cells dropped to less than a quarter of normal ranges. Doctors said I wouldn't make it but here I am. I also think I permanently ruined my pubertal development because I never allowed my body to have a normal puberty. I think some things can only fully develop in puberty.

@@bjdaniel6776 I am only 18 man :(. I've been hospitalized twice both for bradycardia and slightly increased liver enzymes first and the second with the same but also a bit of kidney involvement too. After the first time I had recovered back to a healthy place and worked so hard to build strength and muscle that I couldn't see then but now that I've lost it, I really miss it. Now I am struggling again and my labs look pretty bad, liver enzymes are pretty high, kidney function is worse, and RBC/WBC are low. Add low testosterone on that (17 ng/dl) and your guaranteed to feel horrible. What is really hard is knowing how bad that is but not truly able to see it and do something since I've been scared by the metabolic adaptation concept so much and the fear that since I've messed myself up so badly I will never get out and be happy.
It helps to hear a male talk about the long term effects since most info seems to be from girls which is discouraging because there is a difference. It sounds like you have had a very tough time too, hope it gets better. It is very hard to have so many ups and downs especially when you know the ups were better but there is a fear discouraging you from getting back.
Any advice or encouragement helps, thanks for responding.

"I have a feeling you know what we're going to say to you" This really hit so close. You are not alone girl this shit is hard... you get this tendency to eat more and burn more or eat less. When body dysmorphia hits or when I see the scale go up out of the norm I also train more or harder and I've been doing a lot better at not doing this but it's hard... it truly is. But I remind myself.... how do I want to gain muscle when I'm not allowing my body to gain weight; when I don't allow my body to do what it wants to do. I know what's right but it truly is hard but we're getting there. I agree, the psychological aspect is way harder. I was anorexic and growing up fat I have this constant fear that I might go back. Now I gained a significant amount of muscle and I get tons of compliments because I've been told I look like a bikini competitor and that I look shredded. But i know having such low body fat is not good for me. There was the time last year when I started to do the same thing as Lexi where I was strength training and on the same day running for 8-12 miles or 2 and a half hours. My training and my diet is structured macros and everything. I think im very knowledgeable but its just gaining weight. Its getting over those negative thoughts. To conclude, girl you are not alone and you got it. Since I've recovered from anorexia I feel so much better and about myself. Like I mentioned I still have some negative tendencies but im way better off than I was before... so keep going and keep fighting because it is freeing

If she hasnt had a period I highly highly suggest taking chasteberry twice a day and it’ll re regulate. Metagenics sells it and I struggled with this. This will help immensely this type of vitamin in re regulating that portion of it anyway. But too much exercise will not allow the chasteberry to do what it needs to. Great info and thank you for sharing your story!

will her body start storing fat after cutting down the running if she kept the 2200 caloric intake? I am curious because after I stopped HIIT but I kept the weight training on 1300-1500 I gained 13 lb in 3 months.

    • @wrightwoodwork
      @wrightwoodwork Год назад +1

Her body will store the nutrients it needs to repair Her weight will increase slightly. Then it should drop slightly and stabilise all being good. With the volume of training she was she should have been eating approx 3000 to 3500 calories. Also the volume was way over and the body was not adapting and she certainly was not recovering from the sessions. She had no off weeks or breaks. If she had a coach or part of running club and told them of her medical problems, everyone would say to stop or reduce the volume. A more sensible approach would be 3 days on rest 1 day then 2 days on and rest. She could do 2 days strength 1 day mobility then 2 days running would be more sensible. Obviously she needs help from various people that are have her best interest. A physiologist, a running coach and also other female runners that have gone through similar and can help guide her.

She said she's under 5 ft tall
I thought women who are short need less calories because the body and organs are smaller, how was she able to eat 2,200 calories and not be overweight? I'm only asking because there's a RUclipsr that I recently found that helps petite short women get in shape she talks about how petite women need less calories
So how is a petite female able to eat so many calories is it just because doing lots of exercise help burn off the extra calories? I'm 5 ft 5 and I eat between 1,850 to 1,950 if I go over 2,000 it becomes body fat I strength train and I walk everyday or is it just because of age? Because I am older older females can't get away with eating that many calories I suppose??

She runs 6 to 7 miles a day 6 days a week, which is putting her in a huge deficit 6 days a week. I'm 5' 4" and lift 2 to 3 days a week full body and eat anywhere from 2,200 to 2,600 calories a day. I weigh 140 lbs. For work, I'm on my feet all day and easily get in over 12,000 steps a day. I don't do cardio. I use to be over weight at 200 lbs. I have successfully kept it off for 4 years. High protein, loose diet. I just live by the 80/20 rule when it comes to my food consumption. I forgot to mention, that I do not drink my calories either and quit drinking alcohol and soda. I opt for black coffee, water, or flavored water.

@@MissGoin4u your 5"4 that's considered petite and you're very muscular? Last year I increased my calories I was eating 2500 and slowly it was becoming body fat so two months ago I cut my calories down and I've been losing that weight, I do strength training walk a lot since I don't drive sometimes I do jumping for bone strength I would just gain body fat if I ate that many calories but I guess also I don't lift heavy either I'm not very strong
Maybe if you lift heavy you're able to eat more calories? I definitely don't want to gain body fat I do want more muscle though, I still have some squishy fat on my stomach that's my worst problem area , but like the RUclipsr that helps petite women said petite women can't get away with eating that many calories because of small bodies don't need that much food but I guess if you're petite and you have lots of muscle mass maybe you can?

@@MissGoin4u me too I can only see the top two abdominal muscles LOL that's true women do need a little bit of body fat but I don't want a big belly either I want a healthy flat stomach not necessary to see abdominal muscles I agree with that
So it sounds like it really is about muscle? The more muscle we have the more we can eat , I eat high protein also never in my whole adult life have I ever eaten so much protein but sometimes I do eat higher fat on certain days to get some of those fat soluble vitamins more, but what causes muscle to hypertrophy is it more protein or is it heavy lifting? Because I'm not able to lift that heavy right now
I can't even squat 50 lb the most I can do is 40 lb but that's only holding dumbbell side-by-side I can't put something that heavy over my shoulders like a barbell

@@MissGoin4u the progressive overload thing kind of confuses me because if that means we have to lift heavy then my arms get all wobbly and I can't do good form
But is it necessary to force it anyway? I've seen some people say that you have to push as hard as you can even if you can't handle the weight but that just doesn't sound safe to me if I forced myself to do a very heavy overhead press to grow my shoulders and deltoids I'm afraid I might injure myself bad!
