Welonz worried and panicking for her spellcasters friends, who are going to suffer without long rests... as she hoards 100 spell scrolls on her backpack is decidedly hilarious
that's not just her though that's all of us 🤣 i'd rather long rests and use the same spells over and over again instead of searching through the 200 scrolls i'm hoarding
I’m a huge fan of scrolls, because you can use 4-5 level things without fear for your spell slots, and it makes you feel more freedom in a game and do some crazy things. Like summon more elementals, strong AoE spells and even some simple stuff like misty step. I just share the scrolls among each character. It’s good that you can just start typing a name of the spell and you got it, you don’t need to get lost. In the third act I’ve spend all my money for scrolls and arrows 😂
"Unshackled from shadows, she will rise in moonlit glory and carve a path of brightness to the accursed one's second death." One thing that strikes me about this: Jaheira is talking about Aylin, but in fiction prophecies are rarely fulfilled the way you expect, and there's a not-quite-Sharran that fits this just as well...
Exactly from what I remember about that specific oracle - Alaundo- they also did a lot of prophecy about the Bhaalspawn in BG 1 &2. Similar conclusions could be drawn about the player character in those games too, I guess that’s the nature of prophecy.
Zrell not doing anything is definitely a bug. That's unfortunate (or lucky, however you want to see it, lol). Her spells in that fight are pretty OP, especially on tactician.
Counterspell automatically succeeds on countering a spell equal or lower level to the slot you expend to cast Counterspell, and needs to suceed on a roll to counter higher level slots. It's always most beneficial to cast Counterspell at the lowest needed level, you can save your higher level slots for countering higher level spells. Also Fireball and Lightning Bolt don't need a level 3 slot, they need a level 3 or higher slot. You can use higher level slots to cast Fireball or Lightning Bolt and deal more damage. (Any spell can be cast with a higher level slot, though only some of them gain additional effects.) If you're wondering the character ages are: Astarion - 263, Gale - 35, Halsin - 350, Karlach - 30, Lae'zel - 22, Minthara - 150, Shadowheart - 48. Wyll - 24. 12:28 Back at the Druid Grove you heard about the wizard Lorroakan who was hiring adventures to find the Nightsong. That's what Aradin and his party were doing in the area.
Also true for spirit guardians and guiding bolt : upcasting them is great, specially for spirit guardians because the additional damage counts on every ennemy you're approaching during the whole fight
Are we sure about Minthara's age? Cause iirc drow's white hair start to get yellowish once they reach a certain age, they can live for quite a while in case they are not backstabbed.
A win is a win, but it is a pretty common bug since Patch 7 that hasn't been fixed that Zrell with start the fight by using a Black Hole spell exclusive to her right in the steps if a certain amount of targets is there. Since she rolled the LOWEST initiative ever, which is absurdly uncommon, she didnt see enough actors there to enact her Black Hole, completely breaking her AI right in the very first step of it
If you don't pick the "You are not alone, you have me" Shadowheart's love confessions flows much better; you get that dialogue in camp when things are much calmer and she is in a more stable frame of mind
You can upcast spells! If you are out of 3rd lvl slots for spirit guardians or fireball, you can use 4th, 5th or 6th level spell slots instead. This goes for every spell, and in most cases you gain extra benefits by upcasting (extra damage, or an extra target) Also, I highly recommend setting Shadowheart and Halsin to have healing spells always prepared. Relying on the amulet does not work as good for higher levels, since it only gives you the lowest level healing available, so less than 10hp, whereas with your own spells you can heal your whole party for 30hp or so with a high enough spell slot. Very much a matter of how you prefer to play though! I usually don't even have a healer in my party 💀
Welonz, just so you know, a spellcaster can always use a higher spell slot to cast a lower level spell. Therefore, you can use a 4th level slot to cast a fireball (3th level spell). Sometimes it can even increase the spell's effects like damage or number of targets. Just keep that in mind.
Pretty sure you can long rest if you wanted after the first Moonrise fight before confronting Ketheric by just walking out of the area to about the Moonrise waypoint. Once you're out of the no rest hostile area you are free to long rest. I'm sure you'll be fine though. And as others have said it's always best to counterspell with your lowest available option to save your higher spell slots for handing out maximum damage to your enemies.
You have Angelic Slumber potions/elixirs that put someone to sleep for 10 turns and restore spell slots. If you do it outside of battle, it just makes them sleep for like a minute.
5:31 Pretty sure her snapping at your "leap" in logic is in reference to when you pointed out during her vision of the past with wolves was likely a selunite rite of passage. She's just recalling her earlier disagreement, but then admitting that you may have been on to something
At this point. I always reset Shadowheart to the Life or Light Domain. The Life Domain is good for support while the Light Domain is good for magic damage.
My first time playing this on game release, I got completely wrecked in this fight. I really had no idea what I was doing, hadn't read with comprehension too much of the content, so when I got to this I had a very role-play build, bad equipment, and no support. It was my first party wipe. It is so cool to see it played well, and still role-played well at the same time.
Magic Missile doesn't cause them to fall down. It's because you stacked Reverberation on them enough to cause it -- Gale is fine, but you could have a Reverberating / Radiant Orb / Mental Fatigue build on Welonz and it'd be *far* better.
When the area is hostile and fast travel/camp is not available you can usually go outside and go to camp, so you could have gone outside Moonrise Towers and long rest.
I just read this as well, that SH apparently gives her age as around 48? Which is bonkers. She looks and sounds like she's in her late 20s at most. Though I can't help but wonder if she'd still be romanced by 50% of all players if she did look her age 🤷♀
@@HoskTheCub I thought about that, but don't high elves live even longer? Astarion was supposed to be in his late 30s when he died, and he actually looks like a human of that age. He looks older than SH. Is it lore or are they just being inconsistent 🤔
@@foxfire9320 According to lore they mature to adulthood similarily to humans. So I think up to age 20 the half-elves follow the human development close, and then their aging slows down.

Yeah, spellcasters being annoying... When I played MMO years ago as a noob, one of the first combat rules I was taught by my guild mates were: First the healers have to die, then the spellcasters and the archers, and you can leave the melee guys to be the last to finish off.
You say that you're burning a lot of spell slots counterspelling, but you really don't need to counterspell a guiding bolt. That one counterspell failed because you used a level 3 slot for a level 4 spell, which requires a roll (that failed). I'd also like to remind you about upcasting, any spell can be cast using an equal or higher level spell slot, so you have a lot more slots than you think to use fireballs etc. In fact, it's much better to upcast those than counterspell, as counterspell gains no benefits if it's already of equal level to the spell you're countering.
