Wow! Stunning house, definitely one of my favorites! Great design, quality built and well maintained. Just WHY would someone tear this down for something else. My imagination runs wild at the idea of living in a house like this. What’s not til like? So spacious. So little to even change or update. Gorgeous basement, gorgeous foyer and staircase. Incredible kitchen. Beautiful light fixtures my favorite in the master suite. The only thing I would perhaps change would be to convert gas fireplaces to wood burning at least the stone one. Exquisite styling without being so over the top. Could be quite cozy with the right furnishing, area carpets, decor. I hope someone has a right mind and saves this house from untimely and completely wasteful and disgusting demolition!! Great video Ethan! A bedroom doesn't have to have a closet. Because in the 1800's houses didn't have closets. They would charge more taxes if you had a closet. Because they consider a closet a room. You can have dressers or an armoire. Just saying. That's why 1800s or even early 1900s didn't have closets. I love houses old or new. You are doing great Ethan. Keep up the great work.👍❤
In real estate in order to categorize a room as a bedroom on the MLS, it must have a window, a door a heat source and a closet. Otherwise, it’s a den or just a room.
Ethan like I said within this home, they had probably servants and cleaning individuals, maids of some sort, and you have utility closets. Plus you have, of course, a pantry, but with a home of this size you would need those closets for the cleaning tools to help keep this house up. Just an FYI.❤
It's a beautiful and incredibly built house but there's something I can't put my finger on that feels odd and I think it's the dark brown/black painted walls with the black star. It looks mysterious like Alistair Crowley would have lived there. I think it be better with lighter painted walls. I do get that some people love dark walls though. It's definitely a grand, beautiful mysterious house though 🙂
The Dark walls probably not so jarring at night and may help give a tranquil air. I suppose ideally you'd be out all day in the outdoors and just return home to sleep. I think I'd prefer a lighter shade wall, but would try it for a week or so as is. Nice dream ❤
The brown paint in the basement looks like you would do with a sponge to give it a little texture. You put the base coat on then take a sponge and dab over the base coat. I did this technique when I painted wooden maple leaves we made for an old co workers wedding.
You made a valid point at the end of this video that a house just doesn't look abandoned if the lights are all on, but I was still happy to see the big chandelier lit up. It was spectacular! As was most everything in this magnificent home. Thanks for sharing it with us. Your attention to the little details in these houses is appreciated.

We get the specs from the fridge model and many companies (like Wellborn or Huntwood, etc.) have pre-fab kits that the cabinet installers use to match your exact cabinet design. And for any non-standard fridges, you can build your own kit. Just a little tid bit. Love your channel!

Ethan. Those walls that look like wall paper is called faux ( pronounce dough only with an F.) finish. I did that for many years until wall paper came back in style. And the things you call mouldings on the ceiling that the chandelier hangs from are called medallions. I think this is my favorite house so far. Stay safe and love your channel. I really like that you know your architectural terms, not all the explorers do so when I hear "wainscoting" and not just "decor on the wall" or just " crown moulding" instead of "dental tile crown moulding" so I good job. I also like that you know your decades of the building and know the the difference between toilet and a toilet and a bidet. Extra plus that you do a touch but done take. Extra extra plus for knowing what flocked wallpaper is. I so hope that most of these places get reclaimed instead of just destroyed. At least take the chandleries! Even vintage they usually look great!

The room that you said was the family room was the living room. The room nearest the kitchen was the family room. The star on the floor at the entryway represents the North Star. Its meaning is to represent welcome and welcome home. The powder room near the front entrance was a design enhancement that was added to the architecture structure in the mid seventies. The overall house design was to the owners specifications. The reason why most houses get demolished is because of that reason. Nice presentation overall!
What an Entrance foyer ! Reminded me of a nice Theater particularly the upper balcony wall sconces & reflective glazing finishes 'bronze leaf'? Expected to discover a "Panic Room"
Wow....I'm typically not a fan of mansions. There have been a few that have captured my attention & this is one of them. I love this home. The floor plan is on point. The ONLY thing I don't like is the wall color choices. Too dark for my taste. This was a great find! Thank you, Ethan!❤

That border is called 'terazzo' 6:05 This was popular as a floor treatment for bathrooms of the 1940s and 50s, as well as bank and public buildings.
It’s interesting that the decor is so outdated but the appliances are all quite new. That washer dryer set isn’t more than 5 years old.

As long as you can fit dressers or a wardrobe in it then you don’t necessarily need a closet for it to qualify as a bedroom
