Since I have two watches that have date complication, I might be interested in picking up a Moonphase watch since its looks cool. Thanks for showing this!
I really like that Glycine Combat Moonphase. I just looked at one of those on Jomashop and it was going for $339, which is a helluva deal considering the specs of the watch. Great Video!
Ball! Their Trainmaster moonphase is one of the most elegant dress watches they make, it's surprisingly affordable, and the moon itself is lit up with tritium elements.
its my favorite dress watch, and currently my only dress watch. i have the blue with steel bracelet and a black leather strap and a brown leather strap for going even more classy. its so great. unfortunately with covid and working at home i almost never wear it, i might go wear it now
That Sinn is now on my list, too. It combines my old faithful elegant Sekonda moonphase which I got years ago, and my Timex Chronograph, in a style I love. When I build up big enough wrists to warrant such a hefty workhorse I think I'll have to keep an eye out for one.
Love the JLC Master Ultra Thin. My personal choice within JLC would be the Master Control Calendar. Triple Date with a really cool jumping date function so as to not obscure the amazing moonphase display.
Great installment Jory. I’ve collected mostly simple three hand watches, mostly with date functions, and have limited my chronograph purchases to nothing beyond the level of a Seiko or Bulova as I’ve been fearful of costly repairs. My question is if chronographs are troublesome complications that require frequent service and if a moonphase function is more simple and reliable. I’ve been considering pulling the trigger on the Master Collection selection below as my motorcycling watch. I like the way that the date function encircles the moonphase and the Barleycorn guilloche dial. I’ve been wearing my Quai de L’lle but think that I should reserve it for other occasions and also think it could be easily jacked off of my arm at a stop.
I definitley missed the Lange 1 Moonphase with integrated Day/Night indicator as changing sky disk. You‘ll love the details! It’s so badass and elegant it hurts
I have some experience with the seiko moon phase watch, i gave one to my father in 1984 ( only because he had a dislike for Rolex and swiss watches too because of his world was 2 experience with the swiss and germans) so i went with the 2 tone seiko with timer and alarm. Being in sales and too a Fishman, we noticed that up to 3 days after the full moon Sales would hit a peak and the fish would bite too. So there is some really good reasons to own a moonphase watch if your in the retail end of the business. The moon allows you to increase sales staff and be prepared for a rush in customers. 😉
My holy grail is the Patek Philippe 5320G. Man what a watch, simple and elegant looking but packing a lot of features...Day, month, leap year, moon phase, and day/night indication.
One I own and I consider affordable related to the brand and the complication is the Longines Master Collection Chrono Moonphase. I own the 40mm case (now there is also a 42).
The fact it’s “affordable” is mind boggling! Put on Patek or even JLC brand name on it, the price will be six figures. BTW, I got the same watch. Absolutely gorgeous!
Not really a moonphase fan myself but really enjoyed this episode, who knows, I could be a convert 😊 Take a look at the Junghans Meister Calendar, its clean and crisp, comes in at 40mm and at $1300, its not a wallet breaker.
I had a nice gold moon phase in 1990, it was a West German movt. And I have NEVER been able to find into on it. The brand name was “Sequel” and I wore it all through university
I have had my Zeppelin Moon Phase (7036-3) for about a year. It has a moon phase, day, date and week number (1-52). I like that it is a quartz watch, so that I am not bothered with frequently resetting the complications, as I would with an automatic. I have too many automatics for me to want to keep them all running continuously.
I am wearing my Guinqin Moon phase Homage watch today. Less than $100.00 and most thinking it's a Longines Moon phase. It has a white dial, blue hands , sapphire crystal, brown leather strap, 39mm case and just a very cool 4 hand complications and high beat movement
Another reasonably priced Swiss moon phase is the Edox Les Vauberts Moonphase 80505. I got a beautiful second hand one for under $350. It uses a Sellita SW280-1 moon phase movement. It is a little big at 42mm. Not sure where to get new ones in the USA.
Hey, I was wondering what your take is on the current range of Ingelsoll moonphase watches, because I'm loving some of their designs but find very mixed messages concerning their longevity and quality of gears - thanks!
Love that Seiko Direct Drive Moon Phase! Sadly most Automatic Moon Phases have DATE hand included in the subdial ruining the view. There are very few automatic moon phase watches without date hand on the moon phase window or even better is if seconds hand is included in the moon phase sub-dial.
Also you should consider the Mühle Glashütte Teutonia IV Moon phase, reference M1-44-05-LB. Very gorgeous watch with an attractive price for a moon phase. Or better yet, the Glashütte Original Senator Excellence Panorama Date Moon Phase, ref. 1-36-04-04-02-30. Keep up the good job. Awesome video!
The GA-7900! I have one that I got for an unbelievable £28GBP ($36USD at today's rate). I love it. Big, red obtrusive and tough. I wear it to the beach, playing with my kids, doing DIY and it just puts a smile on my face.
According to me the Arnold and sons moonphase watch is so beautiful to watch then comes Mestrisinger moonphase watch complication apart from that the ball train master and ball engineer ll is also a great moonphase watch to own... The Christopher ward moon phase is also a great watch which you have shown here... Nice 👍
Christopher Ward looks head & shoulders above the others to me. Cheers 👍🏻 If you want a chronograph check out Hamilton Khaki X Wind automatic, got one a couple of weeks ago, excellent value.
Save up for the Rolex Cellini Moon phase, I own one with a genuine meteorite for the moon in rose gold, one of the best on the market. Look for one used at just under $20K, make sure to get box and papers.
Jory, how about the Mido Baroncelli Moonphase Chronograph M86073M142 or any of the Longines Master Collection Moonphases? These all use the Valjoux 7751 as a base. Longines even has an 18K rose gold variant for not much more than the Sinn.
I have the Seiko SRX007P1 , which is the same as in the video, but in stead of gold accents, it has silver accents. As for the full name, it's the : Seiko Premier Kinetic DirectDrive Moon Phase.
Do you know what the watch is in the thumbnail to this video? My late uncle gave me a a very similar Casio when I was a kid, which I sadly lost. He might of bought it in Japan as he was a english teacher there in the 80s. Any info would be most appreciated.
The Frederique Constant has an awesome moovement and a display caseback but the 42mm are really a little bit to big. I tried it at a store. Great video 👍
The Sinn you included seems to be based in the Valjoux 7751. It is a very interesting movement with lots of complications... There are a few other watches which use it like the Longines Master Collection Moonphase Chrono and the Baume & Mercier Clifton Complete Calendar Chronograph to name a few. Does someone else know any other watches with this movement?
Lange 1 Moon Phase 🌝!! But seriously, Frederique Constant actually makes their slimline moon phase in a 39mm not just 42mm, but they’re tough to find (and the complication itself uses parts from the 42mm so it looks a bit disproportioned) and the Glycines are also available in 36mm
Interesting, I never liked moonphase watches as they reminded me of those cheap tacky watches sold off carts in the middle of a shopping mall and often had over the top gaudy designs. However, a small moon on a nice watch that isn’t too busy does look nice.
As a werewolf myself these are lifesavers! Highly recommend! 5 stars! Phew saved me some fkdup situations that's for sure
That was awesome!!! 😂
Ok Lycan 😂
😂
fam i am done w u 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
then you need to buy a Schaumburg werewolf watch
That Christopher Ward is gorgeous ❤️, my favorite among the “attainable” ones in this list!
amazing! Love these vids man! super informative and reliable. keep going!
This was a great video. Thanks. Very useful.
Sweet hair and beard combo, you look like a space super villain man it’s great
Great, now I need to go buy a moon phase watch!! Thanks Jory! I didn't know I wanted one of these until now.
They have a great orient for 300
Wanna hear something really funny I've been on this Moon Phase kick for the last 5 days LOL. All I can watch and lookup is Moon Phase watches.
It’s a really fun complication! I don’t blame you!
That Sinn is unreal! cant wait to see you un-box it!
Thanks for another awesome content. I recommend the Montblanc Star Legacy Full Calendar.
So glad you made this episode
Since I have two watches that have date complication, I might be interested in picking up a Moonphase watch since its looks cool. Thanks for showing this!
I really like that Glycine Combat Moonphase. I just looked at one of those on Jomashop and it was going for $339, which is a helluva deal considering the specs of the watch. Great Video!
Ball! Their Trainmaster moonphase is one of the most elegant dress watches they make, it's surprisingly affordable, and the moon itself is lit up with tritium elements.
Gorgeous! With the Blue dial!..his loss..the Moon is so sparkly that looks like a Sun
its my favorite dress watch, and currently my only dress watch. i have the blue with steel bracelet and a black leather strap and a brown leather strap for going even more classy. its so great. unfortunately with covid and working at home i almost never wear it, i might go wear it now
14.5 mm thick though. Hardly a dress watch because of that.
That Sinn is now on my list, too. It combines my old faithful elegant Sekonda moonphase which I got years ago, and my Timex Chronograph, in a style I love. When I build up big enough wrists to warrant such a hefty workhorse I think I'll have to keep an eye out for one.
Solid list!!
Now I have a new grail watch. I must have a Christopher Ward C1 Moonglow! Great Video!
I'm really digging the Mr. Jones moon phase watches. They're whimsical.
love the haircut Jory!
Love the JLC Master Ultra Thin. My personal choice within JLC would be the Master Control Calendar. Triple Date with a really cool jumping date function so as to not obscure the amazing moonphase display.
Thanks for this list! Only one missing is a grail of mine, the Grand Lange 1 Moonphase. 😍
Great installment Jory.
I’ve collected mostly simple three hand watches, mostly with date functions, and have limited my chronograph purchases to nothing beyond the level of a Seiko or Bulova as I’ve been fearful of costly repairs. I like the look of the Baum et Mercier Clifton Baumatic 10548. Manages a lot on the dial, including moon phase, without seeming cluttered.
Such a huge choice of moon face watches..i think i would go for the Christopher Ward one with the full moon..looks stunning ..😊👍👍
I have some experience with the seiko moon phase watch, i gave one to my father in 1984 ( only because he had a dislike for Rolex and swiss watches too because of his world was 2 experience with the swiss and germans) so i went with the 2 tone seiko with timer and alarm. Longines master moon phase. Absolutely beautiful!
JLC, so under appreciated
Super video, I love the Frederique Constant, you're right though, that Oris is hot!
I'm still occasionally rocking the Casio W-753D-1AV that I got almost 15 years ago, so I'm good on a moon phase watch... for now.
Dammit! Two of the watches on this list I have been looking at and convinced myself not to get but noooooooo you bring them back in my face lol
My holy grail is the Patek Philippe 5320G. Man what a watch, simple and elegant looking but packing a lot of features...Day, month, leap year, moon phase, and day/night indication.
My absolutely favorite is H. Moser Endeavour Perpetual Moon 🙏🏻
Should've included the Zeppelin Moonphase. It's such a beautiful watch.
The Henry London HL39-LS-0071 is also a really nice moon phase watch. Really affordable as well!
Not really a moonphase fan myself but really enjoyed this episode, who knows, I could be a convert 😊
Take a look at the Junghans Meister Calendar, its clean and crisp, comes in at 40mm and at $1300, its not a wallet breaker.
The “Frederique constant” one is just beautiful
I had a nice gold moon phase in 1990, it was a West German movt. And I have NEVER been able to find into on it. The brand name was “Sequel” and I wore it all through university
Longines master collection moonphase; I'll take mine in blue. Stunning.
That C1 Moonglow is my cheapo grail. Just love it...
Have the gshock. It's fantastic!!
I was going to mention this watch. Great watch. Gets a lot of compliments.
Love that G-Shock. 👍🏻🏴
I am wearing my Guinqin Moon phase Homage watch today. Less than $100.00 and most thinking it's a Longines Moon phase. It has a white dial, blue hands , sapphire crystal, brown leather strap, 39mm case and just a very cool 4 hand complications and high beat movement
The c1 moon glow is probably my next aim 😯
You’re reading my mind! I was just wanting a moon phase.
Same for me !
X3
fresh cut!
The Bao Dai is my fav.... just sayin lol.. I do have the Glycine you showed.. great piece... ty brother...
Happy haircut!

Seiko such perfect complement with full complication
Vintage Zodiac and Omega Triple Calendar are also gorgeous.
Dude ..............that Sinn watch!!!!!?????!!!! I need that !
Jory: My favorite is the Longines Master Collection Moonphase ,L2.773
Christopher Ward looks head & shoulders above the others to me. Cheers 👍🏻
If you want a chronograph check out Hamilton Khaki X Wind automatic, got one a couple of weeks ago, excellent value.
Wow! That Rolex is gorgeous. I didn't even know it existed.
Hey jory can you do a automatic vs quartz vs mechanical watches I wanna know which one is best
Is the Seiko still in their official lineup? Couldn't find it anywhere, not even on the Seiko Premier webpage.
Thanks for the list. Any thoughts on Ball Trainmaster Moonphase?
Are most of these day/indicators, replacing a slaved 24h dial, rather than the Casio which shows the phase of the moon?
That Rolex is my grail too. With the ⭐️ ! 😍😍😍
Save up for the Rolex Cellini Moon phase, I own one with a genuine meteorite for the moon in rose gold, one of the best on the market. Look for one used at just under $20K, make sure to get box and papers.
Thoughts on The Longines Master Collection Triple Date Chronograph Moonphase? My grail watch, in 40mm.
Vacheron Fiftysix. Superb.
Jory, how about the Mido Baroncelli Moonphase Chronograph M86073M142 or any of the Longines Master Collection Moonphases? These all use the Valjoux 7751 as a base. Longines even has an 18K rose gold variant for not much more than the Sinn.
What watch was in the cover? The one with moonphase that covers the whole watch?
i wonder what tou think about the NIBOSI Men Rim Hub Watches? i hope you make a video about it i am very interested
I have the Seiko SRX007P1 , which is the same as in the video, but in stead of gold accents, it has silver accents.
As for the full name, it's the :
Seiko Premier Kinetic DirectDrive Moon Phase.
I like the longines 1832 moonphase. Very Patek like 😎
Any watch strap recommendations for the 031 tuna?
Do you know what the watch is in the thumbnail to this video? My late uncle gave me a a very similar Casio when I was a kid, which I sadly lost. He might of bought it in Japan as he was a english teacher there in the 80s. Any info would be most appreciated.
Next year july is my 40th. Going to treat myself with a Glashutte Original panomaticlunar.😍
The Frederique Constant has an awesome moovement and a display caseback but the 42mm are really a little bit to big. I tried it at a store. Great video 👍
I have one and it wears a lot smaller as the case tapers in.
Playlist of this type of wrap-up
I'm thinking of the Ball Trainmaster moon phase. Have you covered Ball? I like the look of their stuff.
May be the Frederique Constant Classics Carree Silver Dial Moonphase, a square watch with a moon-phace es beauty
I think you should've included the A. Lange und Söhne Saxonia Moonphase...great video regardless!
What are your thoughts on a Kienzle Da Vinci Men’s Automatic Day/Date and Moonphase Watch
I like the meister singer moon phase
I forgot “best” doesn’t mean “affordable” 😞
This reminded me of my 1947 gold omega moon phase. I shouldn’t have sold it
My favorite:
Fishing timer WSC-1250H-3AVCF
Featured in the video:
Seiko SRX008P1 (busy dial) 700-1000
Orient Star RK AM0002L (blue open heart) 1290
Glycine combat classic moonphase (field style) 380
Oris artelier complication (triple calendar) 2000
CW c1 moonphase (transparent moonphase)1995
G-shock antartic research (digital moonphase) 99
FC slimline moonphase (classic small slim) 2500
Sinn hunting 3006 (chronograph, with month, day, date 200m WR) 4000
JLC master ultra thin moonphase (calatrava-like) 6500-17000
Rolex 6062 (vintage oyster case, month, day, date) ??
what do you think of Longines moon phase? I got one used for £1850 and I love it.
You left out the A. Lange & Sohne Saxonia Moonpahse! Its my absolute grail watch!
The Christopher ward moon phases are my favourite because of the large moon phase design
How about Sugess? They have some impressive looking moonphase watches and moonphase chronographs.
Think I'm going with the orient and ball moon phase or seiko kinetic and glycine combat 6. I can get either combo for 1300 or less right now.
What about IWC? Their moon phase watches are, by far, my favorites!!
Lange 1 Moon Phase 🌝!! But seriously, Frederique Constant actually makes their slimline moon phase in a 39mm not just 42mm, but they’re tough to find (and the complication itself uses parts from the 42mm so it looks a bit disproportioned) and the Glycines are also available in 36mm
is there a watch that can display the moon phases correctly ? three days before full moon it doesn't look like a round cookie you bit a bit off.
The first is the best. Lovely 😊 Seiko masterpiece. Should be a bit bigger and with Arabic numerals. Great presentation👍
Interesting, I never liked moonphase watches as they reminded me of those cheap tacky watches sold off carts in the middle of a shopping mall and often had over the top gaudy designs. However, a small moon on a nice watch that isn’t too busy does look nice.
Really great ! ..... Open dials in 2020 plsss ???
where do I get the seiko moonphase quartz?
That Rolex is really nice, but if I had to choose one, the JLC would be my winner amongst the expensive pieces and the CW amongst the attainables.
