It's amazing how much work and time went into building forts of this era. I know the battles -- if there were any -- receive the most attention, but I always wonder what it looked like with all the rock carving, splitting and placing. It must have been bustling with hundreds of workers. Looking forward to seeing what you find over the bridge. Maybe some blueberry pancakes with real maple syrup and a lobster roll?
I can't imagine what it must have been like to lay all those stones by hand, plus all the excavating that had to have been without modern machinery. Plus, the fact that they stood the test of time says something about the overall engineering of them. I agree, battles are very cool, but the forts definitely deserve much of historical recognition!!!
Food bins, waste bins… all the same 😂. Those forts can be such a maze. Looks like the weather demons finally left you alone for a change. All bridges should have observation towers!
I honestly didn't know this one existed until that day! 😁 It was a cool surprise because I love exploring old forts!!! I think there were/are total of 3 in the US. I did make my way to the one in Kentucky, but it's a closed post and I was strongly advised to keep my camera in the glove box.

Nice breakdown of Fort Knox
Thanks!
I’m glad you liked the observation tower. Watching your video reminds me that I haven’t been to that part of Maine in awhile,2015 to be exact.
I think you're overdue for a Maine trip! Thanks again for the recommendation, it was amazing!!!

I seriously thought they were some kind of cesspool. 😁 I can't complain about the weather for this trip. It held out the entire time! 😃
Ha, fooled me. I was expecting a video from Kentucky, I remember hearing about that trip maybe last year?

Co worker told me about this, I'll get there
I highly recommend it!
Cool fort and the views from that observation tower on the bridge is amazing! It would be cool if all bridges had observation towers.
That would be awesome! Especially some of the bridges in New York City!!!
