Takes a big man to make a video like this and put it out there for the world to see. Thats a MASSIVE step in the right direction. Live and learn. You are on the right track now, stay on this track and move forward!
Glad to see you're in what appears to be a solid mindset coming out of a shit situation. Fingers crossed you get to worlds and smash that record, it's clear to see you have it in you
I fully understand, my demons are similar, I drank before competing due to the nerves.Fod for thought actually and I respect the honesty, keep moving forward!
Doesn't change anything, your an inspiration and more importantly, a really good dude. Everyone makes mistakes, you have learned from it and further punishment would be ridiculous. See you in texas on that number 1 spot, champ!
Been a big fan for a long time mate. Well done coming to terms with your battle with alcohol and mental health. There is so much support out there for you if you want to find it. Best of luck.
wish you all the best mate, your an inspiration, I always watch your videos and see how much you progress makes me push my self to be a better version of my self also, head up, you have loads of support, look forward to seeing you train towards the world's, you will smash it!
You got this! I honestly don´t know what to say, but I guess talking with someone that knows about the topic would help, imo talking and expressing your feelings always helps. Anyway, wish you nothing but the best! Stay strong! Cheers!!
Dw mate getting your mind right is more important then lifting there will always be another meet my sister has depression and anxiety i know how bad it can get hope you finger out how to overcome it!
Aw man I am gutted for you, despite whatever happened you're still one of the top men for GBPF and one of our best hopes for medals. I sincerely hope you're allowed to compete at worlds surely you won't be punished twice for one incident. It also appeared as though you did an absolutely fantastic job handling and coaching everyone else which was awesome to see.
Cheers for the kind words mate, very much appreciated. I hope you're right, I've put in too much work to wait another 16 months to try and win the big one
Everybody makes mistakes. You know what you've got to do what not to do. You'll be back in that position again soon enough and for sure will handle it better next time.
Sorry to hear things didn't work as planned - really hope that everything comes together. Looking forward to seeing some psychological PR's before some physical world records!
Mate, just my opinion but I think you should put lifting on the side for a while and sort out your mental health issues first. That way you will come back 10x stronger. All the best mate!
Seem very hard on yourself Stephen. How about getting straight back on the horse, try asking if they'll let you guest lift at the classic masters this weekend? I think you'd get loads of support. I doubt you REALLY owe anybody anything so try not to worry about it, do it for yourself no one else. Good luck. Steve Gott.
I won't be able to do that due to work. but you're right I'll be getting right back in the gym and seeing if I can enter a competition in the north west in 6 weeks or so
Got to respect your facing up to it, first gained respect watching your Smolov vids. Like the Connor Macgregor post loss interview, you show more character after adversity knocks you on your arse than victory. Good luck for worlds. Plus it will make it easier to see who are your friends and who the dickheads are.

Yeah man those psychological PBs are tough...but I think this video is the first of many
Shame about that incident, I was looking forward to watching you and Alex-Edward duking it out for a few months now.
Yeah I was looking forward to it myself. We'll have our day together
unlucky there is always next time big man and it was awesome having my photo took with you there
Haha my pleasure my friend. hope you had a gold trip
Chin up mate. One of your best qualities other than lifting has to be your honesty. Sort it out because we all want to see you at worlds.
Cheers mate. that means a lot, it's tough to own up to some shit but it's important for me to be relatable

+screamermanuel bugger
So you ARE human!
Not the first person to fuck up, won't be the last.
yep. I think it's important for some of the stronger athletes to show some relatability and show their vulnerable side

absolutely right on all accounts here mate. so far the response has been overwhelming. it's really nice to know I have people all over in my corner
Also if you want a Nike contract you're going to have to screw up far more than that.
you should have taken some snus instead of alcohol! I can bring some from sweden to the worlds in texas
hahahaha yes please bring me some snus to Texas!!
