    About the work:
Hirono's most recent work, Tzigane Tango, is influenced by Argentinian tangos and Brazilian tangos (Choros), as well as a hint of Hungarian Gypsy music. Like the choro, which is a Brazilian form of urban street music, Gypsy music of Eastern Europe shares a similar public encounter. The violin solo starts with an iconic "Gypsy-style" cadenza and soon turns to a melancholic descending passage influenced by the tangos of Astor Piazzolla. The traditional tango rhythm enters with the cello and, while the violin melodies are still in a Gypsy style, the listener might also notice motives from Rock & Roll (a large influence on Hirono). The middle section echo's a more traditional Brazilian Tango: cheerful, happy, and light. The subsequent cello solo, which interrupts with a return of the Gypsy theme, winds its way back and forth between Gypsy and Latin melancholy only to inevitably return to the opening tango statement.
    About Duo-B:
Unique in the classical music world due to its dedication to works for violin and cello ensemble, Duo-B is quickly earning praise for their passionate musical commitment, creative style, and original programming. The ensemble began in 2009 with the chance meeting of a Japanese violinist (Hirono) and an American cellist (Philip) in Germany, at the Hochschule für Musik-Freiburg. Their fascination with travel, innovative styles of music-making, and each other soon led them down creative and unexpected paths that later resulted in the forming of Duo-B, while still graduate students at the Eastman School of Music. Early on, a diversion from their classical training has led them to explore music from a variety of genres and cultures, including folk traditions of Europe, Japan, and South America, through which they emphasize the communicative power and remarkable intimacy found in the string duo. so BEAUTIFUL indeed , amazed by the entrance of the cello elaborating a pattern or let say a wonderful background for letting spotlight the smooth melody done by the violin . GREAT TANGO
