This was shot in the winter of 1980, months after Hyatt Regency and then Galadari Galleria was inaugurated. Immediately, after the release of blockbuster film Qurbani, Amjad Khan Sahab flew to Dubai to shoot his first film. Dubai had become quite famous then. In the video cassette, he also thanked the ruling families of Dubai to have permitted him to shoot in that emirate too, this is not available here. It was a very peaceful Dubai then, with a few weel-known land marks then. He opened the door for films to be shot there in the later years to come...
This movie caused the downfall of Amjad Khan. Before release it faced heavy objection from the censor board and later failed at the box-office.Amjad had signed Amitabh for his next project "Lambai chaudai"... but Amitabh was hospitalized because of the accident in "Coolie" and later when he recovered....Amjad hoped to regain his losses with "Lambai chaudai"...but Amitabh backed out of most of the projects launched before the "Coolie" accident like "Taala chaabi","Jaahil" and Amjad"s film as well. Amjad never forgave Amitabh for it. As a villain also he lost the top spot to Amrish Puri.

Really those were the days. Though this movie was directed by the legendary Amjad Khan, it did not meet the expectations. But still it retained its charm. Worth watching even today. Thanks to the terrific star cast and of mesmerizing songs from Lata ji and Asha ji.
