Note: Planet Tobal actually canonically has a higher gravity than Earth. As for the game you have to really learn it to see why it's one of the best you can't really see here the intense grappling and frame perfect combos and counters, air grabs and all sorts of cool stuff, and that's not even counting the adventure mode, codes, other 100 un-lockable characters.. I imported copy and I still feel bad it didn't come out in the U.S. Damn shame.
BigBangBlitz Agreed. This game has a lot of depth if you care to invest time. The animations were also quite good for their time. The way characters react to specific limbs being hit during a block, as an example, is awesome.
Next time you guys play this you've got to unlock all the characters. Its makes the game 1000% better having a dog fight a priest brings you unknown happiness...
What If there was a crossover game (maybe not exactly fg) featuring these characters designed by Toriyama for all similar fantasy worlds? (I say similar because Dbz is too different from most, due to its power scale) Ps: In fact I only bring this up for looking into the possibility of getting Crono.
Crono would have more realistic chances in another Arcsys game that doesnt have the gigantic power scale of Dbz. Maybe GGS would be best. The only thing though, is how and why would he get in the game, so randomly as that. But that's another matter.
This was painful to watch. Seeing you guys fight without knowing the game's mechanics makes it look bad when in fact it was one of the more in depth fighters out there. Its as good as VF / Tekken imo
'VF2 plays better' No it actually doesnt. Even VF3 which came out a year before this (1996) doesnt play better And this has more mobilty and smoothness than even Tekken 3 The throw mechanic and its reversals have more depth than any throw mechanic in any fighting game You guys shoulda practiced this game before recording Not even scratching the surface with the gameplay here
Tobal, Ehrgeiz, and Kakuto Chojin are criminally underrated fighters. It's a real shame that these games as well as It's designer Seiichi Ishii don't get enough recognition for what they innovated in the 3D fighting game genre. What's sad is that there are still many people including Tekken fans who still think that Harada created the Tekken series, when the actual creator who designed the combat for VF, and Tekken gets no credit. I wish DreamFactory, or Ishii himself would come back to design another fighting game. There is no game that plays like Tobal 2, and its successors like Ehrgeiz, and Kakuto Chojin.
Thank god region locking for the most part is a thing of the past. Fucking hated having to buy both an NTSC-U/C and NTSC-J console. Still BS that Tobal 2 never had an official release in english.
So is no one going to talk about how these characters look like they came straight out of the DBZ universe, from the shoe designs, to the wacky hair, they literally look like they're straight out of DBZ. 😐
Im glad this game exists because in a parallel universe this game could be tekken 4! Glad Seiichi Ishii left namco and made tobal 1 and this game because we got the best tekken game without him!
Is there any other fighting games that utilizes extra damage from hitting the ground after getting knocked off your feet? That's the thing that interested me in the sense that you have to perfect quick recoveries like I saw one of the doods do in a match.
I still hate Square for never releasing this in US

I didnt know it wasnt realesed in the us since my dad imported so me and him could play on the ps1 remake thing i forgot the name

I remember modding my PS2 to play Tobal 2. The dungeon mode with all its pit traps and potions was AMAZING.
God I love Tobal, never played the second one tho
second one is way better
its reversed for me
(Sees Mary for the first time)
Oh shit... Did I just fall in love?
I mean big mommy is good
big mommy is life
3:50 best battle cry ever
Oliems is a fucking GOD
To this day, still my favorite 3D fighter. If you play it again later, download a save for all the monsters. :)
The soundtrack is pretty good.
takayuki nakamura's always on the ball with his soundtracks
Nah, Tobal 1 had the better soundtrack, this one is lukewarm.
i gotta say, i love the announcer's enthusiasm
Damn I've always wanted to play this. I loved the Tobal No. 1
These were great, I wish they had a QUEST MODE in every fighting game.
Tobal no 2 had a crap ton of unlockable fighters then you can shake a Nintendo switch at, too bad this never came to the states
My favorite game
That chicken guy is literally just Jack in a chicken suit
I'm so happy you guy played this game it doesn't get enough love like it should!!!
This was one of the first games I played when I got a PS1!!
The old guy is OP.
The combos here are very timing based. Ehrgeiz had about the same fighting engine.
"Just-Frame Attacks" is what they're called
I had Tobal No 1 on PlayStation. Was my favorite fighting game next to Tekken 2. I miss this game so much. Still trying to find it
If you have a ps3 you can buy it from the psn store.
@@ericriddick311 I have looked for it forever and I cannot find it anywhere
Yessssss
Had 1 & 2 as emulators!!
AKIRA TORIYAMA ART WORK!!!!
ALSO THE MUSIC FOR BOTH GAMES IS FUCKING AMAZING.
I wanted tobal no 2 so bad when I was younger I loved tobal no 1 it was one of my favorite fighting games
Oh shit! Tobal! I still have the original PS1 release. I never got a chance to play the second one.
Sadly to play it legit, you need to have a Japanese psx, but you can play it by emulation with a English patch.
god i wish there were more fighting games like this or Virtua Fighter today
These quirky characters could be in the dragon ball world to be honest v('-')v
almost anything designed by toriyama is dragonball
Gamesta100 and yuyu hakusho

@Antonio Culb my bad i misread a story about akira toriyama jump force n yuyu hakusho
Can we get theses characters for dlc for dbz fighters

Its as good as VF / Tekken imo
It was made by the game designer that did BOTH VF and Tekken (Seichi Ishii)
'VF2 plays better'

"I'm a chicken! Imma do my chicken dance! Cluck Cluck Muthafucka!" XD
I loved Tobal No. 1. I was crushed when this didn't come West.
That didn't stop me back in the day. I bought it anyway and played it using the old swap trick lol
My favorite kenny quotes:Bitch im wild
Bitch ima chicken
Oliems' home planet is even called Kentucky, lmao
That's not big Bertha! That's 40 yr old blue mary!
Thank god region locking for the most part is a thing of the past. Fucking hated having to buy both an NTSC-U/C and NTSC-J console.
Still BS that Tobal 2 never had an official release in english.
You guys should try the first three Toshinden games, especially 2! Amazing soundtrack 😁
Oh boy, I've played a shizton of both Tobal n. 1 and Tobal 2!
I miss good old Square
I recognize a lot of these moves from the bouncer. Wonder if they carried this fighting mechanic over to that game?
They did. This and the bouncer has moves taken straight out of tekken and ehrgiez
Both where developed by DreamFactory which is why The Bouncer has the same animations.
That first stage looks like it was ripped straight from dragon ball lol
So is no one going to talk about how these characters look like they came straight out of the DBZ universe, from the shoe designs, to the wacky hair, they literally look like they're straight out of DBZ. 😐
Yeah.. someone else said this. You guys realise there's 200 characters!?!?!?!?!? You are not showing the maximum level
He's a chicken! lol Love this game from back in the day! Great game! =D
Hell Yeah!!
Im glad this game exists because in a parallel universe this game could be tekken 4!
Glad Seiichi Ishii left namco and made tobal 1 and this game because we got the best tekken game without him!
what emu is ?¿
I LOVE TOBAL !!!!
Best psx fighting game
Play The Power Instinct games
Never heard of these games
Is there any other fighting games that utilizes extra damage from hitting the ground after getting knocked off your feet? That's the thing that interested me in the sense that you have to perfect quick recoveries like I saw one of the doods do in a match.
