  • The Season of Sheikh Al-Kamil or the Season of Al-Hadi Benaissa is an annual season organized by the Issawiya Order in Meknes, Morocco, during the period of the Prophet's birthday. It is considered one of the most important religious seasons in Morocco and receives thousands of visitors and followers of the method every year from Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and other countries.
    This season, which lasts for about two weeks, is characterized by the diversity of its activities between religious rituals and festive musical and theatrical manifestations, in addition to the extension of its spaces to multiple points in the city of Meknes.
    It is one of the oldest religious seasons in Morocco, dating back to the sixteenth century, the date of the emergence of the Issawiya order, which was founded by Muhammad al-Hadi Benaissa (known as Sheikh al-Kamil), who was one of the most important religious leaders in the history of Morocco.     Mohamed El Hadi Benaissa
    Establishment: Muhammad al-Hadi Benaissa, the founder of the Issawiya order, was born in the year 872 A.H. -1467 A.D. in the Suhaim al-Mukhtar tribe in the Western Plain and died in Meknes in the year 1526. His father was Sidi Issa Benaamer, known as Shahid al-Twaihel in the Saqia al-Hamra region. And his mother, Maryam Al-Fihriya, daughter of the Bani Mukhtar tribe, also of desert origin.
    The Scientific Journey to Fez: The family traveled to the city of Fez for its scientific status, so that Mohamed El Hadi Benaissa gained a lot of knowledge. He memorized the Holy Qur’an at an early age, not exceeding seven. He was recognized for his intelligence and his ability to collect, so he was able to master the sciences of jurisprudence and interpretation, and a dowry in Arabic and its origins, as he mastered the sciences of transmission and mentality.
    Returning to the olive broom: After graduating from Al-Qarawiyyin, Sheikh Al-Kamil moved to the city of Meknes to teach science at the Great Mosque. He married Mrs. Tahira from his maternal uncles' tribe, "Bani Mukhtar", and they had a son, Isa Al-Mahdi, who assumed the caliphate after him.
    The origin of his full name: The accounts differed on the origin of his name as Sheikh Al-Kamil, but all the available sources agree that he was characterized by his mastery of the legal and linguistic sciences, and witnessed his scientific merit and his abundance of knowledge. So he called him Sheikh Al-Kamil, a testament to his wisdom and abundant knowledge.
