- Miami's sidewalks and skyline glitter with the smile-evoking imagery of Brazilian-born artist Romero Britto, whose vivid pop-art style has decorated city vehicles, hospitals, parking meters, even lottery tickets. Correspondent Faith Salie talks with Britto, who first came to public attention via a vodka ad, and whose colorful creations have made it to the Super Bowl, the World Cup, and the Olympics.

There was Leroy Neiman, Peter Maxx, ( I had a Maxx dress in the 70’s) now there’s Britto. It is enough right now that his art makes you smile. The fact that he’s a super successful businessman and artist is the American story.
Congratulations sir.
He was working with a special school program sometime ago ,my son met him and he said he was so down to earth, treating all the kids and staff very well; Britto answered questions and took time with each kid .My son is an adult now and still remembered how special Britto was . God bless him .
He is a good man and was a huge mentor to our Daughter. So glad to be able to call him our Friend.
I would like to know more maybe 60 minutes could do a story?
His art is bold, colorful and uplifting.I remember Miami as a 10-year-old wondering why all the houses are colored like mints that have the frosting flowers on top of them.
Miami certainly is known for some of these artistic styles. It’s one of my next places to visit, once again. Thanks, Britto.
I love looking at colorful creative art in all forms.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE BRITTOS ART! ALL OF IT! ❤️💖💕🎉
wow amazing story , humbleness goes a long way, glad that he found a city , state, he can call his own in beautiful Miami Florida, and many other like him in the future
I LOVE this guy's art and love his backstory. I admire his mother for raising so many children on her own. Not many mothers could do so, successfully. I hope his siblings and his mother are living in better conditions nowadays. 😊
Britto is a BRAND, with extensive licensing deals and commercial tie-ins. Enough said.
Its funky and colorful, just like the Miami I remember from the 80s and 90's. Very cool. I agree why wasn't there a sun in the Britto art style?????
I've been watching the show since I was 14-year-old years old day one 40 years been watching the show
I beg your pardon? 😂😂😂
We'll start begging and maybe I'll pardon you what's your problem
Yes I've been watching for about that long too but now it's a program that promotes homosexuals and transgender as often as possible. I'm surprised he didn't bring out his husband or if he's married to a woman how he actually made it onto the show? If aquaphobic means fear of water what does homophobic mean? Do you respond aqua public is the irrational fear of water? Do people fear homosexuals? What's really going on in America? You might answer, America is like an artist with clay in his hand and he can shape it in any contorted way he wants. When do we get a drag queen for president? When do we feature drag queens on our cereal boxes?
Love his creations .we have two pieces we purchased thru Parkshore and we had our pix with him while he signed the pieces.
disappointed that there wasn't a sun in the Britto artstyle
What?? Everything he does is sunny and bright like the sun!
@@thomastremel3846 They mean the Sun that CBSSM does after every story.
It's funny how an artist can be so popular yet I have never heard of him. I like his work, it's cheery and colorful and spirit lifting. The fact that he comes from such a poor background and is now so mega-successful is something you have to tip your hat to. 🎨🇺🇸
The man had to eat ants. But he’s rich now!
Wow beautiful artist works....
Espetacular! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Lol that’s the artist who treated
restaurant staff poorly. Then the restaurant owner smashed a piece she purchased in front of him.
Yeah remember that video.
It’s very “Miami” and it’s very happy-looking and maybe it’s even art, but it not fine art.
A brilliant commercial artist. He makes money.
5:07 A new home designed to resist wildfires later on Sunday Morning
Happy
❤❤❤
Deja vu , FLOWER POWER , hippie style Art
The American dream is real!
Peter Max !
Sort of acid trip Hello Kitty meets Picasso. Beats Scarface I guess.
Oy vay.
How do you buy paints, when you can't aford a brush?
Did I hear correctly that he has sales of $250 million a year? After paying 90 employees how much is left over? 🎯🎯 $250 million per year that's 1 billion dollars and only 4 years, does this make him the most successful artist of all time ❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓❓
This reporter is not one of my favorites. She could’ve held it together when Britto said he ate ants to survive. That look she gave him was rude, he obviously felt uncomfortable because of the look of horror on her face. Looking at Faith Salie‘s Wikipedia page, maybe she’s too posh to interview real people.
A bunch of dots?
many people eat ants. So why is he whining?
Shush.
This is a joke, @cbs Sunday Morning, you do Miami and its artists a disservice with this story. Lazy Journalism spawned by the worst art.
I hate his so called art
