Hi Rachel, I appreciate any video that you make. I am one who doesn't like to go out much. My anxiety kicks in with everything that is going on with covid. So watching RUclips videos & crafting keeps my stress/anxiety levels down. Thank you for the chat
Hi Rachel! Loved to get to "chat" with you & hear what you're up to. Even though we are hundreds of miles away (Im in Oklahoma) I still feel that I have a friend in Michigan. 🙂 I love the idea of that group those ladies told you about. I think I've mentioned to you before that my daughter gives veterinary care to a cat sanctuary/rescue place & I make cat size blankets for them. They always need them & it makes me feel like Im doing something helpful. Plus all that Hobby Lobby clearance yarn I got I can throw together & the cats don't care if the yarn doesn't exactly match.🤣 I got my Addi when you told us about the sale but I've not yet tried it. I need to try some cat blankets out on it. So great getting to visit. Take care. 💜🧶
The community I live in is tiny and rural, four hours from anywhere! My days are spent as a full-time, live-in dementia companion for an elderly family member. I completely understand the feeling of isolation. My days can be long and lonely. That said, I LOVE this video format! Lives are hard for me to catch uninterrupted. They lose something vital on replay so I don't usually bother anymore. But this? This is perfect! Thanks for the chat over a cup of Cafe Vienna and my knitted shawl project. Blessings to your family today, and thanks from the bottom of my heart!
I really love having just two wips. One from Hooked On Sunshine (Ardith is my favorite) which are complex and one which is really simple and "mindless" so to speak. So whatever I have time or mental space for I can do, it's a good balance.
Hi Rachel! I absolutely love this idea. Just so you know, you're keeping me company while I'm working. Just helping me keep the crojo going for when I finally have some free time. But you don't have to worry about not having a nailed down schedule. Life happens. I do love this style of video though, so I think you should keep it up 😊
I am already planning on making more Zuri. 😊 This is a simple video for me to make and I feel like it is a good connection to you all in the Yarny world. I am glad we could crochet together today!
Hi Rachel, love to have a chat with you its great. I agree about the granny stitch and my addiction at the moment is doing 8 row DK granny squares and using join as you go to put them together. It makes a 4x4ft afghan for people going through Chemo to keep them warm. My favourite blanket stitch is doing a double, half double and single into the same stitch, skipping 2 stitches and repeating. You start with the 3 stitches into the first stitch and finish with a single crochet. You use a bigger hook than normal to give a softer drape, it zooms up once you get the hang of it and the sides stay straight. Yay!! 😀
I enjoyed this video chat! The live chats are so busy and confusing sometimes. I like doing the granny stitch and the v and 3(I think). Do more of these please! Take care! Stay safe!
Love watching your “simple” but fun and informative videos! You are so down to earth. I personally don’t care for the “lives” that so many are doing now. They are confusing and seem to consist of basically welcoming people to the “ live” and whatever is being talked about gets lost . Sorry to say but I have cut way down on watching certain videos because of the “lives”!! Hoping you and your family have a great weekend!!!😊
For all the connection that is attempted in live videos, it can be difficult to feel a real connection on a live. I am glad that you enjoyed this video! There will be more to come!
Just found your channel and immediately subscribed for the illusion of being able to sit and chat while crocheting! Love it! Can't wait for your next one!
Hi Rachel! I really enjoyed this chatting video❤️ my go to quick projects are granny or c2c. I also find the virus pattern very relaxing. I always have a large more intricate pattern as a wip.my king size blanket took 6 months 🤣 take care and have a good day 😊
I love this kind of video 👍 I had a project on my lap that needed the ends woven in but I hadn't gotten going until this video popped up and it was just the motivation I needed. I finished it up while I watched 😊I would love more of these kinds of videos ❤ I had six kids in 10 years. The youngest will be 20 yrs old in March. I know what it's like to have a bunch of littles at home ❤
Oh my! Paige, you are a ROCKSTAR!! Good for you raising those 6 babies! I still dream of more, but at the moment I know my limits. Maybe in a few years, or some foster babies when the time comes. 😊❤️ I am glad I was able to help you get those ends woven in... That is ALWAYS my greatest struggle!
So good to see you, yes I like these videos. I was talking to U too. My husband get up every morning at 3:30 and has a 1hr 15 commute. I know what u mean. Thanks for sharing!!! Have a great day!!!
Oh my goodness! 😳 An hour and a quarter is quite a commute! I felt so bad for Rob last night. He had to get up at 1am to be for an extra early start time. 😭 We have been chatting on the phone quite a bit today to help him stay awake. I am very glad that is an option for him. 😊
I like the chat concept too. I'm actually weaving some cotton dishcloths on a rigid heddle loom while I listen. Since I'm a newbie at crochet I was hoping you would kind of give a mini lesson on the granny stitch you are using and a very brief overview of your project. One of the things I really like about your channel is how detail oriented you are. Wish I had seen your gingham Addi blanket tutorial before I made my first one! There are several things I will do differently next time and you addressed them all in your video.
Hi Susan! Thanks for the suggestion. I will see if I can do a granny stitch tutorial in the future, but in the mean time I am sure that there are some great tutorials here on RUclips to help you. 😊 I am SO glad the Gingham Blanket tutorial was helpful for you. I always try to jam in as many tips as I can into my videos.
Hi Rachel! I love this style of video. My partner and I both got COVID so it's been lonely around here. I am with you on missing that in person community, but this is a nice option when in person isn't possible. For donations, if you can't find a local place to donate hats and scarves, Warm Up America takes hats, scarves, blankets, shawls, and even blanket squares. I just learned about them and they seem really cool. Sending you good thoughts! 🧡
Hello! My favorite stitches are the granny stitch, c2c, and the V-stitch! I currently am making a blanket with the V-stitch and it’s working up so fast!
As a mom of 4 kids, I have to stick with simple projects. I get interrupted far to often to be able to do anything complicated. My youngest is 5, so maybe in the not to distant future that might change but for now I am completely content with simple easy projects. I completely understand the feeling of being alone or isolated. It would be so nice to find a fiber arts group here in Jonesborough. I enjoyed this video.
Hey there! Working on a sweater during this video! My go to stitch, I think it’s called the moss stitch. It’s SC, Ch 1. The next row is a repeat, you SC in the Ch 1. It’s quick and easy and brainless. I’ve made blankets, sweaters, scarves, etc with it. I like the fabric it makes too. I’m experimenting with self patterning yard right now. I want to see how it looks with cricket. It is turning out ok! Anyways, I’ll look forward to the next time we crochet together! Have a great weekend!
Hi Amy! I am waiting on yarn to be delivered to make a moss stitch temperature blanket! Moss stitch is SO beautiful. Unfortunately my yarn has been stuck in Indiana for the past 3 days. I am not sure what the hold up is. 😭
Fiber Spider's Which Way Filet blanket is great, I also like the Modern Granny Rectangle blanket by Mikey of Crochet Crowd. Christa @ The Secret Yarnery has some great blanket patterns too. I love simple blanket patterns that I can get lost in. If I have to focus too much, the joy is lost.
I’ve seen a few videos like this and they are fine. Please don’t venture into the quiet videos or blank screen. 😜😘 This type of video gives a personal touch about you.
@@YarnatPlay My church did them during covid. Last December my sister set it up so I could see and talk to my mom. I don't know how many people can join in but it's an idea!
Our main yarn places in Grand Rapids are JoAnn, Michaels, and Hobby Lobby, but I can usually find some good yarn deals at Meijer, but they have a much smaller selection than the local craft stores. We have a few local yarn stores as well. I want to buy more from them, but it is usually outside my yarn budget. 😭
@@YarnatPlay I didn't think H L was up there! I have not found one very close to A2 but am hoping to shop there someday! I never knew I was supposed to actually have a yarn budget. lol
🤣 my yarn budget is a lot more fluid these days, but for the first 7 years of my marriage we were so broke that I had to give up yarn crafts all together. 💔 I am so blessed that our circumstances have improved and I can get back into what I love so much. 😊❤️ BUT I do still need a yarn budget... we have a small house and if I didn't hold back the yarn would completely take over all our space. 😜🤣
