Thanks! This is really lovely and a nice instrument.. Personally, I think that the Largo (2nd movement) sounds better on piano, but I guess Glen Gould has spoiled me. But I actually prefer the way the harpsichord sound fits into the orchestra for the two fast movements.
I know this comment is old, but there has to be a certain amount of rubato in harpsichord playing to give the illusion of dynamics... because unlike a piano you cannot voice certain notes. You must use time in order to get different colors, playing everything strictly will mean no color, no voicing. So if you are used to these pieces on a piano, that is why harpsichord version will sound like more rubato.
From beginning to end, this is the most perfect harpsichord concerto.
Hi Bryan. How's that 2nd movement coming? Still waiting. :-(
it is fantastic, but... concerto for four harpsichords takes it for me.
Which is Vivaldi
This version is unreachable! Hogwood and Rousset directing and playing Bach...
This is HEAVY METAl in 17th century!
The first movement sounds like the rich villain scheming out a devious plot at the exposition of a play.
Mwah ha ha!
cringe
Sometimes I loose faith in the world, but then I listen to Bach.... 3:16
I'd say 3:14 :-)
This is from another universe. The beauty beyond human understanding, because it comes directly from the soul.
oh lord that harpsichord is perfect... I love the second movement
ikr the most beautiful thing ive ever heard.
ever.
@Dankbarkeit1980 Thank you very much for your kind comment. I played that concerto with our chamber orchestra and I have very nice memories.
I've only ever heard piano versions of this. I decided to finally search a harpsichord one. Glad I did, this rendition is life-changing!
Possibly the best version of BMW 1056 on RUclips?
I like it best with the harpsichord as the keyboard instrument.
I love harpsichords. Electronic keyboards can replicate so many other sounds so well, but even high end ones have horrible harpsichords.
Hear, hear!
Youb are always welcome, John !
i love reggaeton, salsa, bachata and i also love this song
haha! I love that picture!
And music?
but of course! Thats what brought me here :)
This is fantastic. And I am glad that I have found HarpsichordM!
Best recording of this concerto ever!
@korus1234 Thank you very much for your kind comment. I´m pleased you like it.

The pizzicati in the third part are very original and nice.

celestial music. great interpretation!

♡♡♡
A brisk tempo on the opening. I like it!
415 I think
Indeed
What is the tuning of this harpsichord?
when was this masterpiece written?
2 days after your mom was born
roper4314 written in 1720
Third movement is not from this world
hannibal
Класс,однако-странный Ник?.. Это о чём? Не обижайтесь,БОГА РАДИ! А всёже?...
Wow. A LOT of rubato.
Is that a bad thing. I quite liked this recording, thought it sounds pretty nice as opposed to some others.
I also hate the way the Largo is played. Check out the Gould version of this work for what a lot of listeners consider almost perfection.
