I ran over to see this new upload!!!! Happy Friday my friend!!!! Fantastic upload, we always love visiting you and showing support!! Have a great week and see you soon!! So glad you shared this and BIG LIKE and loved the video. Have a great end of weekend!!!! 💗💗 💗💗
Great video, and it looked like a great game. The terrain and the music really made it for me. I love The men that would be kings ruleset, and your group order idea should be further explored, I will try it in my next game.
I think that TMWWBK rules do need a little more revision regarding attack and hand to hand situations and I am intrigued by your creative solutions to these issues. I like how you are developing this already very accessible rule set.
Yes, I was never sure the "math' of melees in these rules was as good as it should be, so it was interesting to see these variants. I really wanted to like these rules but they do need some massaging.
@@Vlad65WFPReviews One idea I have used it to allow the defenders in H2H only 50% of figures to count in a melee if attacked by a second and subsequent units in that turn. it seems to work OK for my simple solo games!
I've been asked this before and once again I can't remember! I'll go and look through my blog (I'm sure I've mentioned it there before) find the answer and get back to you on this.
Right, I've had a look and I can't find the article. I think I got them from a trader at Broadside as just the trees, the bases were bought from S&A scenics I think. I drilled holes for the trees and they have been repainted several times for different games. If I find out who I got the trees from I'll try to remember to come back here and post it .. and then I'll buy some more because I want more Palm bases for future games.
I'm not so sure about the changes to skirmish and close order. The rules are written with skirmish order being the standard. Troops in skirmish order are already harder to hit. You might instead want to introduce an 'extended order' formation to make troops even harder to hit, it could make the unit's leadership roll more difficult, this representing the difficulty in commanding such a diffuse body of troops.
@@MiniatureAdventuresTV Yes, I'm just saying that your logic is already part of the rules as they are written. Skirmish formation is already harder to hit than close order.
But there is the in-between 'Open Order' formation sitting in the middle. I just felt that casualties from fire while advancing seem very high, but in skirmish formations the men are really taking advantage of any cover they can (reflected in their half movement rate). Its worked well in the games I have played so far but that's not to say I haven't broken the mechanism and I'll find out later 😆🤣

Thank you
Such a great looking game! Most immersive and beautiful terrain, buildings...and armies!😍😍
The scenarios in the book are highly adaptable and easy to set up.
Great stuff Lee! Really enjoyed this game. Looking forward to the future adventures of Capt. Renoir!!!!
He has many medals ahead of him 😆

That's the beauty of a solo game. I can tweak the rules and try things without upsetting anyone except myself.
Excellent! Another Foreign Legion battle report!
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it.
I've had an interest in the Legion for over 40 years now.... love the whole ethos and mystique of them.
It's a very evocative and interesting period.
Great battle Report !
Thank you.

I've just stumbled across your channel and it's fantastic. I really enjoyed watching this game 👍 subscribed 😀
Welcome aboard! I'm editing another FFL game which I hope to have done soon, so keep an eye out for that.
Cracking video Lee 👍
Thank you 😁
Good looking game
Thanks
You should not have brought up that bottle of pop with you for your refreshments.
Very nice! have you tried the 'skirmish' option with half-sized units?
Not yet, although I am aware of the rule. Maybe something for me to consider in the next game?
A cracking good game Lee. Q. where did you get the palm trees & what scale/s would they be usable for?

@@MiniatureAdventuresTV Thanks for that. Decent palm trees are one thing that are mighty hard to find & a bit of a pain to scratch build.

The 'easier to hit in Close Order' rule is in the book, so it felt logical to me to extend it the other way for skirmish formations.

@@MiniatureAdventuresTV ahh. apologies!
Looks rad
Thank you
Where did you buy the models?
The figures are from the Blue Moon 15mm range sold by Old Glory in the UK
These miniatures are really sweet where did you get them?
Their by Blue Moon (sold in the UK by Old Glory) www.oldgloryuk.com/15mm-french-foreign-legion/50/222/530/548
Vive la France!
Indeed. Hard won, but a better result than the last game.
