Since the exercise is attempting to target the full posterior line of the erector spinae, it shouldn’t be compromising the spine. The same way one shouldn’t compromise the ACL for plyometric or ballistic sake. What to do instead? Superman variations. Three are provided below. Keep these LIGHT, you do NOT want a career-ending injury.

So I’ve been an archer since I was 8 & since then (even now at 25 ha) I’ve been extremely self conscious about how broad my shoulders are. Over the years, so much practice has made me end up with really broad shoulders with a naturally narrow hip ratio. It feels weird having such broad shoulders & back as a woman, but I really enjoy coming on here and seeing other women with strong backs & how confident they are with that work they’ve put in TO BECOME strong. I think I’ll always feel like I need to be cute and petite 24/7 & therefore I lack some sort of femininity, but I don’t think that about these women at all- I think they’re cool and strong and I wanna be like them. Kinda unrelated, but happy to see none the less & it helps me realize that I’m simply being overly self critical & do enjoy being strong.
