Record of ragnarok thor is goated he has respect for all the ones who fought in the arena and he was about to go againts odin, Beelzebub and buddha if he needed to because he wasn't choosing sides.
I remember being stoked when this finally got it's anime adaptation. The I saw how low effort they made the fight scenes. Really crushed me at the time.
I like that instead of needing gloves that make him strong enough to lift the hammer like in mythology he needs gloves to nerf him so he’s not too strong for it
The fights were good but HOLY GOD they monologue you to death with the whole “I saw what happened so I’m gonna break it down play by play four times for the next half hour” troupe
"Build up speed and momentum for his ultimate technique" so, he swings it really fast. I think anyone who has ever hit another person with anything has figured this one out
“Record of ragnorak” an amazing anime on Netflix, the story about humans greatest champions that have ever lived versus the gods of all pantheons in a 1 on 1 death match for the survival of the human race.
that is definitely not correct, Thor needs the gloves to lift the hammer in the first place, because (despite being the strongest asgardian god) he wasn't strong enough on his own. the gloves provide him with the needed strength
Nah, didn’t he tighten his belt and that made him more buff? And the iron gloves were used to pick up fireballs and fling them at giants, or something.
Lu Bu withstood the first hammer strike at full force and only broke his legs while frost giants die from it, Thor was so happy he found an opponent that he can fully go out on but that experience was only brief and it only left him depressed because of the rules of Ragnarok.
The animation may not be that good for its time but it has this special thing about it that makes the style fit the older era of anime which I think is quite special.
Okay but tbh not a single fight in this show misses 😂😭 and they pick the most badass people to represent humanity I swear, like Lu Bu? Jack the Ripper was so raw too
I always found it an interesting choice that they changed mjolnir so much in this anime For those of you who dont know, in actually mythology Mjolnir has a defect, that being that the handle was too small Then in this anime they were just like "lets make the hammer the size of a building"
Fun fact: In the actual mythology, Thor uses two metal gauntlets to help him wield Mjolnir, as well as a belt that doubles his strength. He uses these to enhance his power, not to restrain it. It also goes without saying that Mjolnir is much smaller in the actual mythology, more closely resembling the God of War version or the ones on necklaces.
Human side didn't think of power ups yet
No he got a power up he just lost with it
Thor didnt even power up pretty sure those black gloves just limited his power so he didnt destroy mjolnir with his strength

I like how this entire anime is just poking fun at fighting anime tropes while dropping the hardest fights.
Is it? Or is it just using the tropes?
it isnt poking at anything. it was genuinely so bad that it looked like satire. gladly season 2 fixed all of that
The concept that Mjolnir was in danger from Thor’s strength was a brilliant touch.

It’s called the show took inspiration and made their own lore that cannon to the show.
Iirc correctly the gloves protected his hands from the impact of Mjolnir and the belt he wore magnified his strength enough to actually wield it.
In Norse myth yes but in records of ragnarok there is other inspiration
