Our family moved to the area, Menlo Park Terrace in 1955. The scenes in this video I remember as a child. The old St. Cecelia's & the Iselin train station, Coopers Dairy, Route 27, I remember it all when the area wasn't so built up like today.

How great to see my hometown before I was born! Lots of those places were still there in the 60's & some I remember my mom & aunt telling me about. What a gem! Thanks for sharing.

Fantastic. I didn't arrive until 1962 so this is a great view.

+Dan Moore Was Iselin any different back then from today? Or still a small sleepy town.

The population of Middlesex County is four times what it was when these films were taken. Nothing is the same, including Iselin.

Adachi it's a bit more ghetto.. I moved to the suburb in CT from Iselin last year, and Iselin seems very ghetto

It's a LOT more ghetto now. Traffic is horrendous. Traffic lights on Wood Ave - which was a dirt road with a turkey farm when I moved there in '62 - backs up for half a mile. The Indians who have taken over the area for some reason cut down all the trees! It looks barren & ugly now. Tons of traffic, exhaust, blacktop and filthy streets. Ugh.

Dan Moore us Indians honestly thrive on business and IT, but I'll agree with you on the fact that we've ruined NJ a bit

The guy at 2:50 looked like Joe Namath.Native Staten Islander here but know Iselin pretty well since it’s not far from me.This is what all neighborhoods looked like around the area until the building boom and massive malls replaced small town shopping.Sad how much has changed.

Didn't move to Iselin til 78. Remember that was around the end of Cooper Dairy I guess? I remember the cows across from the Metro Park train station. I remember the pony track behind Iselin Library. Heard stories of the airport top of oak tree which I believe is in this video? The cab stand where FLips use to be. So hard to make out where any of this is in the video other than Metro Park and the underpass on Oak Tree Road and the little church across from St. Cecelia's - Where are they playing baseball? What year did they build Merrill Park and Cooper Field?

Airport was indeed at the top of Oak Tree, what is now Woodbridge Oaks - Wood Avenue across Bender, Plymouth and Semel Aves up to the Parkway

Jersey is one of those places where, if you move out of the state and don't return for 10 years, when you do return 10 years later, it will be almost unrecognizable.
