    Hi I am a certified nail tech for ten years now and hun u did great cause most nail tech can't use the acrylic brush without the tip to get that perfect ball from liquid Q monomer to the acrylic powder onto the nails. Quick tip. Use a mirror, coaster or aluminum foil when placing down polish. Rather lacquer or gel. Using those items will prevent lint and fuzzies from getting into the polish and help make the application look a little smoother.

      Uh huh. Because being critical of her work means we do shitty nails right? Please stop.
      Criticism is how people get *better.* Sometimes the shit you hear hurts, but if you get hardheaded about it, you'll get made humble quick.
      I used to do nails for a living, and I would not have let a client walk out of the salon I worked in with nails or linework like that. And I had a good cliente. I just got me a better job with actual benefits and a pension. And less breathing in dust.
      Other nail techs might agree with me.
      So, and you might not even read this, here is some education.
      First thing, I don't even use tips or recommend them, but people love them. What I don't love are these tips. Curved tips like this means the client is coming back next week with a missing nail or three. Looking ratchet with a bandaid around her finger trying to hold the nail on. That's what I never wanted my clients to have, and they never had that b/c my nails never broke (when I took criticisms to heart.)
      These nails don't allow you to build a proper apex or structure.
      Right in the beginning... that's not how you should measure tips out. At least in the method I was taught. I'll tell you why -- notice all the client's nails go red after the tips are glued down and stay red? *That is because the tips don't fit.* If you size up a tip by pressing down on the nail as aggressively as she is, when you glue it down it will bend the natural nail and eventually cause the nail to lift from the nail bed. This called onycholysis. You need to find a tip that fits WITHOUT pressing down that aggressively. You can always file away the tip after application. You do need to press down, but not like that.
      01:08 The client's ring finger is actually onycholytic deeper than the smile line and is broken where the nail grew out. Worst type of customer to do tips of this length on b/c she will eventually lose the nail on her nailbed. If you only use tips, I would have recommended a straight type and build the apex into that and allow the client to grow nails out to her desired length while growing out that nail trauma.
      Another one at 02:45. That whole nail has seen better days.
      03:30 Good shaping and filing. And we are using the light & the truth. Young nails Protein Bond.
      05:16 Let's talk about that brush. You are not going to get a decent bead or be able to control that brush at all. That brush is toast sister. This is evident when she picks up that dry ass bead at 05:22 *drains liquid from that poor bead* and then proceeds to mash the poor bead that isn't even malleable. Like yo. Then we overlay that with another dry bead instead of a wetter one while touching the client's skin with the brush. o_o
      The next nail is a bit better, but now the client has monomer all over her skin. Contact dermatitis and allergies waiting to happen.
      Now right here, forget me being a critic.
      If you are a nail tech, you are wasting three things: *material, time and money*. The better your application is from the JUMP, the more money you save on material, the faster you can finish a nail b/c you don't have to do all this filing, and the more money you can make b/c you can take more clients.
      16:35 Then the filing... There is no point in filing nails this thick by hand. You can't see the shape through that thickness. You waste time not trying to use an efile to debulk the nail first.
      Again, here comes the time and money -- invest in a carbide medium safety bit. Faster than a sanding band every day of the week. The nails would likely have more shape them. Right now they look blocky, and upon further examination, this is why the lines ended up looking so janky when she did them.
      If the nails SLOPE from the middle to the edge, you will have a properly defined *edge.* If they slope from the back to the front, you will have a well defined *edge.* If you see 26:30, they look like lego bricks.
      Most people were like use foil at 26:49, and I agree, but paper towel works fine for polish. Gel doesn't like paper towel. Also, I don't know what state she is in, or the laws in her state, but idk if the oil brush is supposed to touch the client's skin like that. Idk. Let's also get a shot glass for $0.99 from the Salvation Army or something instead of using the acetone bottle cap. It will contaminate your acetone.
      The yellow nail looked fine b/c the nail application was pretty good from the jump. The filing on it was pinch as well. The orange one? No client would have left my table with a line like that. I would have used acetone to remove that so fast. But, you can't define the side of the nail b/c it is so blocky. You see this at 29:57 as well. There is a lack of a slope, and even the tech can't find the proper edge of the nail.
      Afterword:
      That's all I gotta say about it. We all live and we all learn. *You should have seen my work then before my people were honest with me and told me where I could improve.* Sometimes you think people are *coming for you*, and sometimes it be like that, but sometimes that rude comment is the truth.
      Sis, my nails were breaking, coming off, I was getting cussed out. I took more classes, I listened to criticism even if it was rude, I became more critical of my work.
      And when I took their words to heart, I got better, I got faster, and I got more money, more time, and more clients. I don't do nails except my immediate families anymore, and I use gel now, but it is just something to think about.

      Arianna Monèt hey, she'll care when the state runs up in her house when someone sues for damage done to their nails and decides to blame her.
      Take it from someone who knows: when you get a dissatisfied client who gets mad and tips off the state or forces a lawsuit, and they run up in your home, you'll be like 😮 real quick when those fines hit.
      And who knows -- the client might have paid her for the nails, hated them, didn't say anything, but let their wallet talk and they aren't coming back.

    You can give people contact dermatitis with your huge brush getting monomer all over their cuticles and eponychium. But seriously as a longtime tech I’ve seen with other techs and this repeated monomer on the skin will affect your clients skin. These huge brushes are fine but try to not do that. Trust me after years of this they will get sores and cracking cuticles and cracking eponychium it’s bad and isn’t made to be on that area. If your brush was smaller it wouldn’t happen. As well as using a lot of primer. You don’t want it to soak into the matrix of the nail that’s even worse, and can cause a lot of damage. It’s just going too fast and not paying attention to detail. Those details are just as important as a beautiful nail. Just some food for thought.

      I use a size 20 brush and never wipe the skin. Ive been a tech for 6 yrs and have learned how to properly manipulate the acrylic AWAY from the cuticle. It has nothing to do with what size brush you use.

    • @NailsbyGGRNVLE
      @NailsbyGGRNVLE 5 лет назад +5

      Amanda Blackburn the size absolutely does matter and a brush with a point eliminates the amount of brush that touches the skin, a size 20 has no point so the your brush being bigger means more of it touches the skin. After you’ve been a tech for a couple decades, and your clientele if they stay that long, you’ll see the damage those brushes do to the cuticle and eponychium. Ive been using #20 for 4yrs now so maybe you think that because YOU are not accustomed to that size. Its all in how you manipulate your acrylic. I suppose you're one of those ppl that think since YOU cant do it no one can, right?

    Have you ever considered using acrylic paint to do your art, it’s way easier and cheaper and you can do endless things to nails. Check out Robin Moses nail art and she has been a tech for a a couple decades plus as have I and she can show you how or tell you the products needed you can get neon’s and glitter’s etc, it’s super easy and you can create for pennies which means more money for you. It’s a win win. Just some more info for you. Nice set by the way. With paint you can get all the edges way easier than using polish but a tip for polish is the mix it with a bit of acetone on a tile it keeps it working a bit longer, cause girl come on now those sides are not ok.

Then once they were more healthy then i would have done her nails. All ur doing is adding to the problem baby. U r doing the best u can i suppose..practice makes perfect keep it up

    Get 1 cheap tile (like a bathroom tile or kitchen wall tile to put ur paints on so your not wasting so much polish, plus all u do is wipe it off with alcohol to clean it again). It drove me nuts she didn't cap the free edge which secures the polish, u always have to cap the free edge when top coating to protect the polish/design. But i like the idea of this design.

      @justjessy0115 5 лет назад +1

      @@tianamorris2644 ok let's say you do your full set & now your on to ur design, once you complete your design you will HAVE to cap it with like a gel top coat to make sure the design you just did, doesn't chip or come right off. I (for example) always top coat my designs whether they're stickers, solid polish or a painted design, i cap it or another words i cover it to protect it with uv gel top coat, you get way less chipping & it lasts longer. But the important thing to remember to don't forget the free edge (along the sides & tip where she's got her colors at in this vid) cuz i promise you, that paint will for sure be gone way before she'll need a refill & it'll look bad, you have to always protect whatever polish or designs you do or they won't last, hope this info helps 🤗🙋

    • @vulcans0soul
      @vulcans0soul 5 лет назад +7

      No, the prices are due to the time it takes to create a full set. On long nails like this a good nailtech works at least 90 Minutes. Most techs need two hours or more for extra long nails. The materials are only expensive when you buy small quantities. My 150 gr clear acrylic (german production) cost me 12€ and 500 ml liquid about the same. I only buy when the shops offer discounts. And I avoid hyped brands.
