Q: Is Perfect Pass water proof?
A: No it is not. Therefore we recommend installation inside your receiver box, to protect it from moisture and dirt.
Q: It’s not clear to me how the setting changes on the transmitter and the potentiometer on the Perfect Pass unit effect operation of Perfect Pass
A: To visualize how Perfect Pass works, plug a servo into the Perfect Pass male connector and work the throttle quickly, slowly, apply brake, etc. You can also use this method to visualize the effect of adjusting the potentiometer, or changing a setting on the transmitter such as the throttle trim.
Q: It says that the first 15% of throttle works without delay but I don’t get any immediate response when I first move the throttle trigger, what should I do?
A: With some radios, due to variation in the neutral point, you may not get immediate response when you start to move the throttle trigger. To address this, lower your throttle trim to the minimum setting, then re-calibrate your ESC. If this gives too much initial response, try moving throttle trim halfway between centered and minimum value.
Q: I have the potentiometer turned all the way clockwise but I can’t get more than 5 seconds or so, of delay - what should I do?
A: If you have a transmitter that has a "super-response" mode, such as higher end Futaba or similar - and you can't get enough delay even with the potentiometer adjusted fully clock-wise, try putting the transmitter into normal mode and you can extend the amount of delay you can achieve.
Q: I installed Perfect Pass and it seems to be working but my car is slower than it was before. What can cause this?
A: Re-check that you have radio settings to zero trim, zero sub-trim, zero expo, 100% end-point - and that you have correctly calibrated the ESC. If you get the same result, it’s probably because you have too much delay and you are not reaching full throttle before you have to get out of the throttle. Try reducing the amount of delay by turning the potentiometer screw counter - clockwise to reduce the amount of delay. You can plug a spare servo into Perfect Pass male connector to visualize how much delay you are getting. For speed running, try setting the potentiometer to get about 6-7 seconds to reach full-throttle.
Q: I looked at my ESC data log and I am not getting to full throttle, and the more I turn the potentiometer screw clockwise, the less power I get at full-throttle. What can cause this?
A: It’s probably because you are not holding throttle open long enough for Perfect Pass to ramp its output to 100%, so that the ESC delivers 100% power to the motor. Try holding throttle open longer, or reducing the delay of Perfect Pass by adjusting the potentiometer screw counter-clockwise. You can plug a spare servo into Perfect Pass male connector to visualize how much delay you are getting and how long you have to maintain full-throttle on the throttle trigger to reach full power. For speed running, try setting the potentiometer to get about 6-7 seconds to reach full-throttle. For drag racing, try setting the potentiometer to get about 1 second to reach full-throttle.
Q: I tried it for speed runs and it seemed to work as expected but part-way into the pass the power cut, and then the car slowly started to accelerate again - what could it be?
A: Most likely you had a radio glitch that caused the throttle signal to drop out briefly, which can cause Perfect Pass to “re-set”, like if you quickly backed off the throttle than pulled to full-throttle again. If your radio has programmable options for “Fail Safe”, setting throttle to maintain last valid signal during a drop-out will address this. There may still be radio issues (with or without Perfect Pass installed) that deserve further troubleshooting.
Q: Will the car drive itself?
A: No, you still have to drive your car! Steering is unaffected. Throttle is smoother and more gradual, but you are still in control and responsible for safe operation at all times.
Q: is launch control cheating ?
A: No.
The usage of launch control has been approved by most events both with real cars / motorcycles / drag racing and races all over the world,

I have the FlySky noble NB4 transmitter. And I can set a delay of 10s for throttle. So I think that’s the same as what your perfect pass does. I will give it try and see what my throttle line will looks like.

Ok so a full summer with this gizmo and it is good but it does nothing that a good or even a half decent radio gear does? Like the radio link controllers !
Did you trim your tp power motor to make it fit better? I did this exact setup on my felony with a 1460kv motor same motor mount but with a max 5. Wish i would have stripped the anodizing so it looked like this. Also you could just dip the circuit board in epoxy for durability and waterproofing.
After you set the perfect pass, do you still slowly pull the trigger or just pull it and let the perfect pass do the work? Doing speed runs.

For future people reading this. If your esc has a switch or button just press it without the batteries plugged in. Your esc light will turn on for a sec and discharge your capacitor

I have a futaba 4px. The radio has 3 points for setting throttle speed so I can have the throttle move fast for the first 20 feet then slow down and speed up again. I know the m17 has many more points. Perfect pass if I'm correct has one point. Any thoughts in the future of making this with more adjustments? That would be well, perfect.

Do any national or international organizations or federations prohibit the use of automated throttle control intervention - such as automatic drag brake, punch control, acceleration smoothing, braking smoothing, etc? If so, do you have any idea where I can find the documentation on it? Wondering what the limitations of these types of things are for high-level competition.

On a V2 board, please use a multiturn trimpot like bourns 3339 with 4 turns, so we get much more precision in the delay adjustment
While that helps presion, it gives zero visual clue where your set at. I have 4 ideas to make this better and cost about $5 in parts.

Raz, I have a Sanwa Mt44. Throttle position and trims all at zero. Esc and control calibrate perfect but when I change the timing delay, I don’t get a delay...change is done with lipos disconnected and no cap packs. Please advise.

Hey Raz....what happens to your car with perfect pass installed with no delay and you turn transmitter off before turning off the esc? My car took off down the street full throttle all by itself until I could get the transmitter turned back on.

@@ryancarter142 who sets fail safes in electric cars? they were designed for nitro.. So if your full throttle and loose range, then the mechanical throttle will close its self...
if you loose range in an electric car they stop with out a fail safe.... So how would a fail safe work in this scenario?
Raz- should you turn full throttle protection off for speed runs? Also, what percentage are you running on PP? Lastly, Oz told me you are in the process of launching gen 2. What’s the difference going to be?
For speed runs if you have the pot turned to the delay you want it dont matter.
