    I was so happy when the Jets drafted Sam Darnold, but the Jets did Darnold dirty. Lame duck coach (the Jets did Todd Bowles dirty too) fired after his rookie year. Then they hire a weird eyed coach who basically ruined any chance for Sam to have success. And the new GM (Joe Douglas) wanted his own quarterback (Zack Wilson we all know how that turned out) so he was royally shafted in New York. Sam always had the talent. He just needed the structure to succeed.

    So Sam Darnold finally has a good season with a great roster and he's now elite but Purdy went to the Super Bowl but needs to be cut.

    • @robe2504
      @robe2504 19 дней назад +1

      You might want to rewatch those SF games. He came on late in the Ravens game when Purdy was sacked 5 times and the 49ers were being blown out 30-10, and immediately finished a TD drive, then lead the 49ers straight up the field in his only other drive until having to force a 4th down throw into the redzone down plenty with a minute to go.
      Then in the week 18 game he marched the starting offence up the field for 2 TDs with barely an incompletion, then they benched the starting O Line and WRs, and the Rams slowly ground their way back into the game - with Wentz playing OK and making a couple of unlikely plays.
      This is what KOC saw. That is why Shanahan would have loved to keep him.

      @@PeterDahu What more could he do vs the Ravens except come in, and move the ball immediately with starters that he didn't even practice with?
      And yes he made an error on his last play of the Rams game trying to win. I thought the parameters of the discussion were "not very good", but the goalposts seem to have shifted to perfection?
      Maybe you're just a bit salty watching the dumpster fire 49ers eliminated and watching a team led by a guy you didn't rate in a two horse race for the NFC 1 seed.
      I guess that's just the downside of your poor assessment of this season's QB talent. At least you will have an extra 8 weeks to study the draft and see whether you can improve.

      @robe2504 And yet you used garbage stats during the Ravens game as some proof Darnold was good. You also now trying to defend Darnold pulling a Darnold during the Rams game.
      Claiming someone is salty when you are writing a book trying to Sam Darnold is hilarious. Are you paid by Cowherd or something? Darnold having a good year doesn't make him an elite QB.
      But hey you are a Vikings fan, so I can understand your passionate defense.

    What if McCarthy is better than Darnold? I'm prepared to defer my opinion until OConnell and Kwesi make their decisions because they know more about both QBs than I do. They'll do what's in the best interest of the team.

    • @robe2504
      @robe2504 19 дней назад +1

      Then Kwesi trades Sam for a decent draft haul when that becomes obvious. They don't have to rush anything with JJ. They can keep both until they know what the decision is.
      If they don't keep Sam then JJ being better than Sam is the only option they leave themselves, and that could look even worse than the Giants extending Daniel Jones and letting Saquon and McKinney walk...

    This is a dumb narrative about the vikings. Just franchise tag darnold let him play 1 more year and give jj another year to be fully healthy, then whether sam balled out again or not, the vikings will transition to jj

    • @robe2504
      @robe2504 19 дней назад

      The objective is to have a top 5 QB that can compete in and win a SB. The goal is not to transition to JJ at all costs. JJ has to first prove that he is better than Sam, which he may do, or he might be traded away because he is not.
      There is no rush for JJ, and Kwesi holds all the cards. The Franchise tag would be the worst card to play - the costliest, least flexible, and would leave the Vikes in the same position at the end of 2025 as they are now, not being able to trade Sam unless they extend him.
      Extend Sam, and start Sam until KOC is 100% sure that JJ is both ready and better. It's not difficult.

    • @robe2504
      @robe2504 18 дней назад

      @@justincha4973 Yes. I'm disagreeing with the franchise tag. It's a terrible way to extend Sam. It's a $41m cap hit all against the 2025 salary cap, and Sam would have to be traded before week 10, so Kwesi loses a lot of potential leverage to drive the trade price up because teams know he has a deadline. He also loses all his leverage over Sam if he wanted to extend Sam in to 2026, even if it was just to trade.
      A short extension - 2-3 years resolves all of those issues, helps Kwesi drive down the price, preserves 2025 cap space, and gives everyone a much more flexible timeline to organise a trade.
      Who knows when a team might lose or give up on their QB and be desperate to sign Sam.
