With Sam, Vikings already know, with JJ McCarthy, Vikings have yet to know. With Sam AND JJ and KOC as coach and KAM as GM Vikings should know, a dynasty of seven NFL Titles in ten years. The Net Worth, of Vikings will triple for Weiff.
What if McCarthy is better than Darnold? I'm prepared to defer my opinion until OConnell and Kwesi make their decisions because they know more about both QBs than I do. They'll do what's in the best interest of the team.
Then Kwesi trades Sam for a decent draft haul when that becomes obvious. They don't have to rush anything with JJ. They can keep both until they know what the decision is. If they don't keep Sam then JJ being better than Sam is the only option they leave themselves, and that could look even worse than the Giants extending Daniel Jones and letting Saquon and McKinney walk...
This is a dumb narrative about the vikings. Just franchise tag darnold let him play 1 more year and give jj another year to be fully healthy, then whether sam balled out again or not, the vikings will transition to jj
The objective is to have a top 5 QB that can compete in and win a SB. The goal is not to transition to JJ at all costs. JJ has to first prove that he is better than Sam, which he may do, or he might be traded away because he is not. There is no rush for JJ, and Kwesi holds all the cards. The Franchise tag would be the worst card to play - the costliest, least flexible, and would leave the Vikes in the same position at the end of 2025 as they are now, not being able to trade Sam unless they extend him. Extend Sam, and start Sam until KOC is 100% sure that JJ is both ready and better. It's not difficult.
@@justincha4973 Yes. I'm disagreeing with the franchise tag. It's a terrible way to extend Sam. It's a $41m cap hit all against the 2025 salary cap, and Sam would have to be traded before week 10, so Kwesi loses a lot of potential leverage to drive the trade price up because teams know he has a deadline. He also loses all his leverage over Sam if he wanted to extend Sam in to 2026, even if it was just to trade. A short extension - 2-3 years resolves all of those issues, helps Kwesi drive down the price, preserves 2025 cap space, and gives everyone a much more flexible timeline to organise a trade. Who knows when a team might lose or give up on their QB and be desperate to sign Sam.
All the power to Sam Darnold but it’s not like he’s been doing this for 7 years consistently. Could become average playing on another team. If he plays like this for two full seasons without superstar receivers then maybe he is special.

Colin cant stop smiling knowing he was right about Darnold the whole time 😂
With Sam, Vikings already know, with JJ McCarthy, Vikings have yet to know.
Colin's pleased as punch right now. Dude's been hyping Darnold for years.
Where's the love for kwesi??
This is Sam first real chance,
talk about sam more than lamar mahomes
he's special 😂
What makes the Vikings roster worse than the other 3? I never understand your claim here. Player for player the Vikings seem better.
@robe2504 did you not read at all?
Makes no sense. He was trash for years but now surrounded by elite receivers and defense and rb, and now he’s elite?
If they let him leave Purdy better fear Sam coming for his job
All the power to Sam Darnold but it’s not like he’s been doing this for 7 years consistently. Could become average playing on another team. If he plays like this for two full seasons without superstar receivers then maybe he is special.
Let's see what Sam looks like on a team without the weapons and defense Minnesota has.
We’ve seen it already 😂
