Jay Z isn't a kid anymore and hasn't been for some time. He is almost 50 and has a family. It makes sense that his message and delivery should change. It's called growth...
mikochild2 he most definitely evolved right before our eyes... knowledge is power.
mikochild2 thank you!!
mikochild2 i agree
mikochild2 you better hush truth
mikochild2 fuck yes
Damian is probably the chillest dude on earth. Something so authentic about his personality and charisma... That video is a masterpiece. We need more of this for this generation
Of that's Jr Gong
G.A.M.A Kendrick has great videos
Sewage Man
that's because he's baked asf all day
But patience which Nas & Gong is still Hardest FEAT of all Time 💯
"We're whistles, the wind go through us...we make the noise."
In this context he’s admitting to knowing him and many other of Satans children are Vessels to make that hell noise
Sister Nancy at 3:49, chills. Cannot ignore how nonchalant Sister Nancy is with... Jay Z: "must feel so good to make something to timeless?" Sister Nancy:" Of course". I love everything about this video.
I’m glad she finally got her just due..I remember having belly bootleg on vhs listening to bam bam for the first time I broke the tape I had rewinded so much
Damian Marley is so underrated, especially when he collaborates with Nas. Now Jay-z....Fuckin LEGENDARY
Edit: wow...thank you...I was not expecting any likes at all...I admit, it's kinda overwhelming lmao.
84blizzle ikr that distant relatives album was my shit bro
84blizzle every track on distant relatives was way better than this track. Because Nas and Damien are similar in thought process/love of their African culture
Next collab, with Wizkid the starboy
haha that's retarded......"Hovey" should be honoured he is working with the brilliant Damian Marley. not the other way about.
+nmessai215 You for got to put, "In my opinion" in front of every track on distant relatives was way better than this track. There is no definitive way to compare and judge art.
Jayz showing Jamaicans reggae and dancehall RESPECT that many rappers popstars don't big up jayz
cookie summer #DISTANTRELATIVES...NAS did it right and first...this dude just a fuckin copy cat n always been
Yeah Nas definitely did it first, but you can't act like Drake hasn't done anything with dancehall.... Toronto has a large Jamaican community, and you can hear him use the slang in some songs and some of the beats are definitely dancehall beats
cookie summer exactly!!!! I personally did not know about bam bam by Nancy. I was touched to see Damien Marley and Jay Z working together it show the power of Marley and how his legacy lives On! Bam was made in the 70's or 80's and has been sampled over a 1000xs...and she will receive another nice check because of Jay Z ! Ppl have missed that it all about history and respect...thats never wrong
Sharone Bro
cookie summer anyone who true to hip hop culture knows the roots in JA. The toast, the selector, the vibe. Big Up Kool Herc.
Him and Bey make works of Art now. They don’t try to chart or “prove” anything. They just make works of art, visually and musically. This album is a classic.
Underrated comment
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Ive noticed. Its another business move. Make fine art for culture and black culture
For real! The reality of the situations. Is really indescribable!
@@17kallum sure is!
“We’re whistles the wind go through us... we make the noise” that was so dope
Hov is jus something else
I'm so glad Jay Z done grew up and is making music that is actually meaningful. Shits a classic.
Christina Collier it's not just that he grew he talked about wanted to do this kind of music in his albums ...we grew to accept it
He raps about personal things on a few songs on a few albums. If you listen to his albums you can see him fighting his demons some albums are more braggadocio, some more hard and some more personal. But he's always rapped about meaningful things, it has just always been in the shadow of the drug dealer and materialism which is a reflection of where he's from.
hes popular but underrated
about 80% says hes overrated , me personally i think he's better than nas if your talking about overall body of work
He grew back some albums and years ago, people started saying he was "falling off" when he moved to a more mature substance & material. As Michael Perry noted...the masses had to grow to accept it. Some still haven't.
Damian Marley is truly a LEGEND. First worked with Nas and then Jay-Z... Mad respect to all!!!
Novas
Yes but his dad was a prophet RIP
KevJ Was a legend untill I saw he's worked with Jay Z...
Yeah, he's a legend...except in the world of reggae. Poseurs.
Jeff Nighswander the Marley family are well respected in the reggae world what you talking avout. Hard fam too
This visit to Jamaica is why Jay-Z grow his dreads out 🎶🔥🔥🔥🔥💯
I slept on this album so hard. It’s 2021 I’m just now starting to appreciate it 🤦🏻♂️

ariana jones... not me..
ariana jones cause he don't give a god damn.
ariana jones I was just finna do that😭😂😂💯
Jay feels at home. People could say Hi and not want to take pics for social media its just like welcome brother.
eric sase maybe but i don't think they will show that in the documentary
U clearly haven't seen the behind the scenes clips floating around youtube. There was pandemonium in Trench Town (heck, all across Ja) because of J's presence. The clean, empty shots were only for the purpose of the final cut of the video...
If it feels like home he should live there
eric sase they have no money for phones 😂😂😂
Bear Maxes you're sadly mistaken
One of the most well made albums in music history. 🤞👏
The best part/thing about this song is the walking around and vibing. Legends say now in 2099 this song is the class of class.
Everyone samples Sister Nancy. What a fucking legend 💖
PepeVEVO. Very true
Unlike Drake and many other artists who've taken the Reggae genre and chopped it up and named it something else. Jay Z went to Jamaica to expose one of the many greats doing music there. Not to take but to learn and maybe give something in return. I'll be buying this album. #IT'SBIGGERTHANRAP
This video and song gives me chills every time ! Big up to Jamaica 🇯🇲 Big up to Reggae and her daughter Hip Hop ❤️🙏🏽🔥🤞🏽

Reggae didn't birth hip-hop at all
@@LonnellRichyes it did and if u research further half of the rappers of that rime there mums or dad was JAMAICAN a bit like xxx tentacion read a little deeper respectfully peace and blessings

This is the most significant album Jay has made.
This shit gave me chills. Visited Jamaica and I love the place. The people. They're a strong, proud people.
Fakih Balboa 😍
Fakih Balboa chills as well 🇯🇲 love my people
hypnosquirrel how can u speak for an entire population? They showed me love when I went. And this wasn't at the resort. This was around town. That's that bullshit stereotype homie. Don't do that. That's why we as black people cant unite
Come back any time mi bredda
Roger K of course I'm comin back brethren. Don't tell dude in the comments above me tho. He said y'all hate "Yankees" smh
Man Jay-z thank you for paying respect to my culture... feel so proud to see you dig so deep and putting my country and such a large platform... big up 🤜🏽🤛🏽
jamaica made it possible for jay to be on a large platform. dj kool herc is the father of hip hop and he is jamaican. he started those block parties up in new york that gave birth to the art. so its only right to pay homage. that small island does big things. jay z is a jamaican descent like me. his mom or father is jamaican.
Mezziah where u get that from
Mario Bennnett Now why don't y'all try that instead of hating us?
@@SuaveChystmas16 which part? Bc hes right a jamaican named cool herc started hip hop.

One of Jay’s best albums tbh
Who's here right now playing this 🔥 song
HOV really poured his soul into this album. He had a lot of his mind to say, and he did say them articulately. Not some "mumble rap" or "trap" music.
Nothing wrong with Trap music, it's just mumble rap.
Rayhan Akram Trap is not fucking mumble rap Jeezy Bankroll Fresh 2chainz Scooter Dolph nun of dem mumble foh
This some golf course music
Bello Atolagb
If you listen to old Jay he basically made trap music without the new day trap beats.
I don't care who did what first, all I care about is the message!! That's the problem with this generation, so focused on shit that doesn't matter. You people need to wake up already...
WAKE UP!!!

Just want him and his wife and children to stay together in harmony nothing more really
Nas and Damian Marley album was one of the hardest music projects I've heard to date.
It's sad that most people slept on that album. So much truth and inspiration!!
My all time favourite album!! #sabali

We should have less fake platinum as well. Which this album is.
HubsDrunk or less people like you commenting on videos as such**
Rae wow, so basically anyone who criticizes jay z shouldn't comment? Fuck off.
facts!!
Uhhhh, you're a God damned idiot.
Everyone in the Caribbean grows up with reggae music
drewb4u2 Canjam da fuq you mean!? 😃u wish
In Africa too I grown up with reggae
drewb4u2 Canjam I like JA but the Caribbean is more than just JA. What about Haiti, Trinidad& Tobago, Grenada, St. Vincent& the grenadines, Barbados, Puerto Rico, Bahamas, Cuba, Dominican Republic, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, St. Martens, Guadeloupe, Martinique, Dominica, Antiqua and the list goes on and on. So therefore JA is not just the Caribbean, that is just being bias cause you're Jamaican. Like I said I love JA and JA ppl but some of y'all are known to be bias. I'm Haitian I could of said my ppl change the meaning of freedom in the islands they were the first black freed republic in the Western Hemisphere. The Haitian revolution is very historic but I know what my African/Haitian ancestors did I do not have to be bias or brag about it.
I miss this Jay Z. He pissed off a whole lotta Jews with the knowledge he was dropping on this album.. haven’t seen him speak like this ever since
I knew you were westindian, this song is dope asf.. I ❤ the Marley's

Hip Hop is the child of Reggae guys...in case y'all didn't know
Aditya Kamble Nah, grime is the cousin, but the root of Hip Hop in terms of expressing oneself lyrically with such depth and perception is from Reggae

JAY-Z is back, who esle miss his songs?
Lavonne Fletcher You know nothing of African history or culture. As I stated before, the only difference between a black and a white person is skin colours, in any other way you are as white as a white person. Looking at your profile pic you look like the whitest girl I have ever seen so I do not know why you speak of "your" African history.
This right here can bring all the world together as one. Two Kings, direct sons of God! Lead out and lead on!❤️❤️
In the beginning even before the gangsta lyricist is the intelligent world student.... it's Shawn's cultural intelligence that affords him the Broad creative abilities that he possesses in his work and thought. 🤔

Jamaica will always be the home country for hip hop..Thats why so many rappers go there..Its like a pilgrimage..The way Mecca is for Muslims.
Yes - hip hop started in The Bronx, NY - via Kingston, Jamaica.
Anthony Steele facts. Start with missa kool herc
cerebral dome - if you were from NY - where hip hop was birthed - then you would know. Most of the US has no clue (just like they don't know most of the break dancers were Puerto Rican)... Maybe some in South Florida who had access to Jamaican dancehall would know too. The fact that you don't know history doesn't mean it's not a fact.
cerebral dome niggas like you wouldn't know real rap when it hit you. Accept facts bruh and stop hatin. Smh...
cerebral dome dude your an idiot, this is what u hate about my generation everyone wants to argue and shit but no one wants to research and find out the facts. Fact is hip hop was started by a JAMAICAN DJ in the Bronx who would play late 70's records with his turntable. The MC or master of ceremony would then perform Jamaican style TOASTING (rhythmic chanting) over the track which then evolved to rapping. The carribean influence in hip hop and to a greater degree African American culture as a whole makes PERFECT SENSE AS OVER 80% of Africans brought to america came via the West Indies. Wake up read a book and know your history my brother.....
like for Jamaica
I was today years old when I first heard this song and saw amazing video for the first time!! March 2023🎉❤
I mean if your a Hiphop purist then you’d know that DJ Kool Herc (Jamaican) created what is now known as Hiphop music, RESPECT!!!

well said. Plus Damian Marley is now signed to RocNation, Jay Z's label AND Tidal, that's why Jay jumped on the occasion to do music with him now. Keep it in the label, profit for both.
