Would love to see a new updated discussion from you guys. The thing I find hard to read and learn about is Fallow periods. Especially now I’ve read from humble fish fallow regarding hypoxic environments.
You Guys are awesome, I started reefing in the 80's and decided to get back into the hobby. I setup a new redsea reef and got ick via a bluetang from my LFS. I saw one of your podcast and you mentioned using proroxide; well it worked and got rid of my ick; it's been 1.5 yrs now and ick free...you guys are awesome!!!!!
For our friends in Canada, a DIY copper med: Into 1 liter of RODI water add: 4 grams Copper(II) sulfate pentahydrate (CuSO4.5H2O) AND 0.25 gram Citric acid - the acid acts as a stabilizer to the copper in solution. Never substitute the citric acid with ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) since it will render the copper way more toxic. Everything should dissolve nicely giving you a slightly bluish solution. 9.8 mL of this solution is necessary to bring 100 Liters (26.4172 US gallons) of tank water to 0.1 mg/L copper. Therapeutic range is ~ 0.15 to 0.25 mg/L, but I would try to stay below 0.20 for sensitive species. Can easily be tested using the Hanna High Range Copper Colorimeter (HI702).
I don't know where to buy the above ingredients in Canada, but here is where to buy them in the US: Citric acid: www.walmart.com/ip/Citric-Acid-1-Pound-Food-Grade-Non-GMO-100-Pure/152305739 "Food Grade" and "100% Pure" would probably make it good to go for our purposes. this was a great video. from toronto here , we have a prob with getting meds ,if u could rec what meds to go to vet and ask for what would it be . i recently saw a bottle of prazi pro at a lfs and it was 100.00 for a small bottle . is there a dosing chart for CP ...U guys were mentioning using it but i am not sure if i missed the dosing for it .
I have been trying to get chloroquine from my vet, who is a fish vet. CP is outrageously expensive at $1200 a kilo. This was through multiple vendors too. So good luck. Also, liquid cp is not suitable due to additives.
I put all my fish in a quarantine tank and after about two weeks if they're looking good and not scratching an eating well I will put them in the main tank if they have something wrong with them it will show up in 2 weeks trust me I know a lot of guys who don't quarantine and are lucky but you are playing Russian roulette I have been in salt water since 1986 by the way I have a fifteen-year-old blue tang who is doing fantastic
I’m just gonna do an an observation qt is that better then doing nothing? I’m using a reef salt, didn’t know and I’m using instant ocean reef crystals, will it be ok?
Reefdudes- this is THE greatest video i've watched on the subject. thank you so much. Do u try to answer questions? I will come back to ask more questions.
am I correct that they said only only 3 or very few vendors quarantine fish? is that still correct 4 years later. i am placing a big order from saltwater fish! They are pretty famous and have a week guanatee but now I am petrified!
This video has helped me so much! I lost my nano tank fish due to Brook. I am following Humble Fish’s advice and have this video a shoutout in my own video I posted today. Now I need to figure out how to link this video in my description.
If you have ich or something in the tank and the fish are thriving, no degree of quarantine is going to stop those quarantined fish getting infected when they get introduced to the tank. Correct?
Found out a few weeks ago that Cupramine is banned in Canada. I don’t know if we can get Copper Power up here. I think Prazipro is also banned up here.
Does humblefish have a facebook?? Would to touch base on a method of wiping out ich, in a 150 tall, with about 100 pounds of rock and a couple big eels
This was realy one of the best informational videos i ve seen, tnx for that. I do have a tip though. When someone is talking you keep saying ye and ahah to them, just listening would be better I think.
This is great info! Thanks for conducting the interview. I’ve had pretty average success attempting to quarantine fish. I have a cupboard full of medications but honestly lost more fish in quarantine. I then took a big gamble and decided to just add fish to my display. I definitely have ich in my system but the fish have so far done well and fighting It off. I have now added 8+ fish this way and haven’t lost any. Prior to that I lost 4 fish in quarantine. This info definitely gives me a heads up on how I can quarantine safely and more effectively. What are your thought, is it worth quarantining a fish in copper for 14 days to then add it to a display that you know has ich?
Would love to see a new updated discussion from you guys. The thing I find hard to read and learn about is Fallow periods. Especially now I’ve read from humble fish fallow regarding hypoxic environments.
This was great, I fantastic reference. Humble RUclips channel has made QT so accessible :)
This was the best Livestream ever there is alot of very good information in this Livestream. Thank you for having them on
Your most welcome! i LOVE hearing it helps!
24:28 love the automatic subtitles saying "there's another medication called Prosecco".
Bro, I am starting in the hobby, but what a video, I am learning so much. Thank you 🙏🏻 to you and to them for all of this.

Is that all that you treat with us the peroxide? New to the hobby
Dang humblefish’s microphone/connection is brutal. I’m going crazy listening to him.
Anyway you could turn these into a podcast? I would love to listen to them in the car
Jason Messineo I have been thinking about doing that for a while now
+1
You can listen to them in the car
I have the RUclips premium, then just download the episodes.
Once the uncycled qt tank has been brought to copper setpoint, how ofter do you change the water to prevent ammonia buildup?
100% every 3 days. Maybe 2 if u have more fish.
Keep the good work up just been through quarantine with all my fish 🐠
Thanks guys! Late in the game here but still such great help with what i am doing today!
I’m glad I watched this video. My QT tank and refugium are next to each other. I didn’t know my QT needs to be more than 10 feet away.
I was amazed to learn that too!
Can I suran wrap my DT Tank?

Copper sulfate pentahydrate: www.amazon.com/Copper-Sulfate-Powder-Space-Saver-Bottle/dp/B00WFHJBK6/
Also, I have contacted the manufacturer of chileated copper, such as Fritz, and UV does not make it toxic.
Awesome! thanks for confirming!

Humblefish the quarantine GOAT

Outstanding video! Very educational! Thank you!
Thanks! Happy to help Michael!
I am curious to know, if you are medicating a tank, Is it better to have the lights off or on?
I left them on but schedule as normal but at a much lower %
@@ReefDudes Thanks for the info! this video was very helpful!
Reefdudes- this is THE greatest video i've watched on the subject. thank you so much. Do u try to answer questions? I will come back to ask more questions.
Hydrogen P works very well, but be careful with anthias and mandarins as I lost both under heavy hp
I loved this video. Very interesting. Anybody who keeps fish should learn this unless they like losing fish and throwing away their money.
Humblefish is the man!
sure is!

Happy to hear it helped!
Does Hyposalinity kills nitrifying bacteria in LR and Deep Sand Bed? Please help. Got Marine Ich need to eradicate. Thank you.
Hmm. Good to know
Can I use metroplex during copper power treatment? And what is the best way to use metroplex
Dang how did I miss this one. Bobby and Aaron!
Slackin!
Here is my question to all of this. If you don’t notice anything on the fish you still quarantine and if so what medication would you add??
Hi Michael,
We have found that UV sterilizer has no effect on Coppersafe so you should be able to use them together.
Thanks,
Sarah
Good to know!
how can you QT macro algae?
You can QT anything if you have another tank and the space :)
If you have ich or something in the tank and the fish are thriving, no degree of quarantine is going to stop those quarantined fish getting infected when they get introduced to the tank. Correct?
A healthy fish can generally fight stuff off.. if he is stressed/bullied/weak immune system then its more likely to get sick
Awesome!
Found out a few weeks ago that Cupramine is banned in Canada. I don’t know if we can get Copper Power up here.
I think Prazipro is also banned up here.
At the least you can look at doing the h2o2 and tank transfer discussed in the video. Would be nice to find a source for prazi through
Yea I got the last few my lfs had
I’m scrambling trying to find Copper power and some alternative to Prazipro!
@@WLNS75 Its tough to find in canada
Why is it banned?
Does humblefish have a facebook?? Would to touch base on a method of wiping out ich, in a 150 tall, with about 100 pounds of rock and a couple big eels
He does not but he does have a form
Post your question there and I’m sure he will answer (link in description)
Hi reef dudes really liked your video amazing videos keep up the good work sorry I came late
Thank you! happy to hear your enjoying them! (and better late than never! )
Man, you totally hit it out of the park with videos like this and the one about carbon dosing. Thanks man!
Your most welcome

Pretty sure Safety Stop contains methylene blue and formalyn
Great video.
Thanks for the video man👍👍👍
I subscribe to the old adage give a man a fish it probably has ich, teach a man to fish it probably has ich. I had to learn this the hard way.
sooooo..everyone has ich? :P
Had I known quarantining was this easy, I would have done this a long time ago.🙄
Better late than never :)
Copper power lol, it's like buying a BMW, and I love the seriousiness of that dude 🙄

Chloroquine phosphate is also highly dangerous to kids and household pets, from what I've heard, so be careful if you use it.
Ugh can't buy anything in Canada here! We need to start a reef keepers petition to allow dewormers to be sold to hobbyists!
It really does make things pain!
I didn't know Justin Trudeau was into reefing.
