I recently used Softube’s Weiss DS1-MK3 and I was quite pleased with it. In a way, it does a similar thing except it’s digital. The volume is definitely driven, but it doesn’t sound distorted.
All that said, I am considering adding Pulsar Audio’s take on the Manley hardware =]
I’d love to give the Weiss a try sometime, I’ve heard nothing but good things. I’d 100% recommend the Pulsar 👍
Nice compressor. Thanks. If I may make a small observation. …. On the third bar in you have the bass playing a fifth on the first downbeat. It throws perception off ….makes me perceive a five chord against a one chord and feels kind of like the song trips and stumbles on the one of the first measure of first verse. If I were producing this I’d fix that bass note to a root then begin a 1/5:bass pattern. Sounds like the beginning of a good song. 👍

@@SamLoose sounds like some talent there but a fifth on the bass opening note of a verse is just damage. Not offering in anything but a spirit of help.
@zarlok5294 I think blanket rules are sometimes difficult to justify. God Only Knows, for example, is my favourite song of all time, and starts the verse with a Dmaj chord with an A in the bass. Horses for courses I guess.
@@SamLoose Agreed. But this song needs a root on that note I think if you listen you’ll hear the problem of course I don’t care either way cheers!
@@zarlok5294 I may be misunderstanding what you mean. This verse sounds to be in A major. As I hear it, the harmony is Asus2. When the vocals start, it's Asus2 with A in the bass right on the 1.
