Have you read Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman? I'd love to hear your thoughts on that one. I just love it! ❤ The Dark Tower is my favourite fantasy series, soo good! Have you red The Long Earth series by Pratchett/Baxter? Another favourite of mine a si-fi/fantasy. Brilliant! 😍 I started with The Liveship Traders when I read Hobb and then the first Farseer trilogy it worked just fine. Such a good series. I wonder what Hobb will write now that it's concluded?
I think it's hard for fantasy authors to produce stand alone novels and keep them as stand alone novels because, if it gains a fandom, there's a desire for more of that world/story. We hard to please as fantasy readers XD Not wanting to commit to a new series, but then finding that single book we fall in love with and wanting more books to continue it
gotta say, this is one of my favourite book review/recommendation video i've seen in a while! totally different authors and titles i've never heard about. booktok was FLOPPING with recommendations so this is truly a gift!
I found Illborn at half price books and knew nothing about it. Boy was I shocked. I grabbed it because it was beautiful and spoke to me and wow I was blown away
I am reading my first R Hobb book now (Assassin’s Apprentice) and absolutely loving it. I have read a ton of fantasy, but for whatever reason never read her… if this series stays at the level of this first book… might end up in my own top 5-10.
@@libraryofavikingthx! Will try Hunger of the Gods at some point too… I loved Faithful and Fallen by J Gwynne…. Cobran, Storm, Rhin, Camlin and Veradis all still fav characters of mine…
Thank you for this list. I live in Northern Canada and am currently preparing to evacuate due to an approaching wildfire and am trying to decide which books to take with me. You helped me decide!
I love the Dandelion Dynasty! I'm almost halfway through the last book. I'm only sorry I didn't hear about it sooner. It's probably my new favorite fantasy series.
Thanks for this video! I'm currently reading Rythm of war (Stormlight Archive 4) and I agree with you that so far Words of Radiance is the best one, I don't know if I'll like Rythm of War better. I'm a huge Brandon Sanderson fan, but I'll definitely check these books you mentioned!
Lies of Locke Lamora I struggled to finish but it ended off on enough of a good note that I decided to give the second novel a shot. I'm glad I did cuz it felt like an improvement and convinced me to stick around for the series
I love seeing The Dark Tower appreciation. My personal favorite is Wizard and Glass, but Wastelands and Drawing of the Three are also five star books for me
A Storm of Swords not being on this list is criminal. Great list though :) I especially agree with A Little Hatred and The Wisdom of Crowds. Although I would probably put The Trouble with Peace above A Little Hatred.
"Piranesi" is my favorite book of all times. I love both M. L. Wang's standalones. Her new Dark Academia, "Blood Over Bright Haven" was brilliant. I am excited for you to read "The Speaking Bones". "The Dandelion Dynasty" is my favorite Fantasy series.
I love your channel, its more realisc than the other channels, they all seem to be either new to the genre or just liking what everyone likes for clicks, jus sayin
We share sooo many faves hahah, it's not even funny 🤪Something about great minds think alike? 🤣 Also, I'll take this as my reminder that I need to get to The Councillor already. I was kinda waiting on book 2, but since it's taking so long I figure I'll just read it now and then do a reread when we eventually get a continuation! Thanks for sharing 🤩
We have a lot of overlap between our 5 star reads! Words of Radiance is my favorite as well. I finally got my husband to start reading Stormlight and he's paused in WoR because Shallan is bothering him and I keep telling him to KEEP GOING!! Grace of Kings and Empire of the Wolf have both been on my TBR for a while! Greenbone Saga is also such a meaningful series to me. I can't get enough of the Kaul family
One series that does not get talked about a lot is The Prince of Nothing by R.Scott Bakker but it’s so good! Dark, but good. It’s the First Crusade mixed with the Silmarillion. And of course Malazan is brilliant!
Heyyy!! I love your content! I have a question for you… I recently got back into reading and I basically got back into fantasy through Brandon Sanderson. At this point I’ve read almost everything he has and I think he is absolutely phenomenal! However, I want to branch out to other authors but I’m afraid that Sanderson has spoiled me and I will only be let down by other others. Anyone have any ideas or thoughts on what to do or who else to read?
So glad to see Ship of magic on the list - had to put Stormlight aside after reading Assassin's Apprentice and having Robin Hobb's writing style completely hooking me. Truly she is the queen of fantasy - Already LOVING Live ship traders!
Age of Madness is the epitome of modern Grimdark. I listened to the Wisdom of Crowds audiobook a year ago for 8h straight at some point, according to my app 🤣
I just bought Piranesi and i can't wait to read it (need to finish my other book first), i am so curious. Also i totally agree with The invisible life of Addie LaRue ... i gave that 5 stars as well :)
Hi, your videos are amazing, i really wanna share this, am i allowed to translate into Ukrainian and post your videos on my channel (of course with giving credits to you?) Or don't use your video, instead i use your text and provide with my images and videos? I'd like to share video about 5 gadgets or some reviews
Great list 🙌🏼 some are upcoming for me 🤓 Some of my 5✨️ are: Between Two Fires Ink, Relentless (J. Maberry) Of Sea and Shadow Blood of an Exile Reincarnation Blues Frankenstein in Baghdad The Wind Up Girl Perdido Street Station The Fall is all there Is Legacy of the Brightwash Just a few 🤪
Robert C Bauer, "The Kid Gallagher Story ". Number one on my must read list. But, what do I know? I only read one book a week! Written for women, praised by men, nominated for the Mark Twain award. A classic !
I have given 19 books 5 star ratings. Most of them from my two favorite series. The Great Hunt, The Dragon Reborn, The Shadow Rising, The Fires of Heaven, Lord of Chaos, The Gathering Storm & A Memory of Light from Wheel of Time. Before They Are Hanged, The Last Argument of Kings, The Heroes & Red Country from FIrst Law. Also I have Legend, Legend of Deathwalker & The First Chronicles of Druss the Legend from Drenai Saga, The Way of Kings & Words of Radiance from Stormlight Archive, House of Chains & The Bonehunters from Malazan and The Name of the Wind from Kingkiller Chronicles all as 5 star ratings. I can't remember if you have ever mentioned whether or not if you have tried Gemmell yet. But if not you need to; he was a big influence on both Abercrombie & Gwynne.
I'm currently reading 11.22.63 by Stephen King. I know it's not a fantasy book but this book ia absolutely a masterpiece. Love the time traveling theme.
I love that you say The Dark Tower is your favorite series because it is mine too. I know it’s getting more love but ppl still don’t say it’s their favorite often so Tower nerds unite! 💪
I am not a fantasy reader. There are only 3 books on your list that I own. They are - Jade City, Addie Larue and Project Hail Mary - None of which I have read thus far. So I think I better read them soon to see if I can also give them 5 stars - or not as the case may be.
Not everyone would agree with me, but I think you can read The Dark Tower on its own and you don't have to have read other books by King beforehand. The ties are in primarily just easter eggs!
Thanks the dark tower has been a book series I have been eyeing mostly because I like flintlock fantasy(lightbringer series, powder mage trilogy) and this has someone named Gunslinger.
Then there's my ass giving 5 out of 5 to every book I've ever finished. If it ain't phenomenal I ain't finishing it. Way too many great books to waste time.
The Hunger of the Gods, Ruin, Jade City, Sword of Kaigen, Word of Radiance, Final Empire and the Grest Hunt, all good books I btw reread the Final Empire recently and it is still so good, so I think you'd love it if you reread it
I have just finished reading the first 3 books in the Riftwar series, starting with the extended version of Magician. It was really good. Felt like a combination of lord of the rings and game of thrones. There are loads of books in the series so I will make my way through. There isn't enough life to read everything I want to 😂 I need to be paid to read so I can quit my job 😅
With youth comes inexperience. Your 5 stars are predominantly the “In” books of the moment. If you haven’t, you should go back in time and read the great authors that all the modern authors have copied.
Most books are 3.5 stars including jadecity The book deels like 90s stale gang wars with comical jade element Writers need to be more creativity and start questioning their instincts and work it to make more better
Dark Matter was so poorly written and blatantly illogical it baffles me to see the hype. But Ship of Magic and the Lies of Locke Lamora were fantastic.
"Obviously joking" about giving Fourth wing five stars makes you so cool, yeah, so edgy! So much better than the plebs that love it. Your so much more intelligent, yeah, you read so much more amazing books 👏 go you! ... 😐 whatever man. I was going to watch your video but after 43 seconds I'm leaving this comment and headed out. Dont make fun of popular books, it doesnt do what you think it does.
I just don't get Sanderson at all, I actually hate his writing, it soooo flat that it reads like pre-teen anime translated in text, it literally gives me naruto wibes and I hate anime.
I can't believe I forgot to include The Hobbit! Oh well, I also love that book!
Have you read Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman? I'd love to hear your thoughts on that one. I just love it! ❤ The Dark Tower is my favourite fantasy series, soo good! Try "Enemy Glory" and "Hecates Glory" by Karen Michalson.
Currently reading that book. Truly great.
😮😢😂

We hard to please as fantasy readers XD Not wanting to commit to a new series, but then finding that single book we fall in love with and wanting more books to continue it
That's why having a series of moves in one world that are connected but also work as stand alones are pretty cool. Like Narnia.
Great video! Your enthusiasm for these books made me want to read all the ones I have not already read :)
gotta say, this is one of my favourite book review/recommendation video i've seen in a while! totally different authors and titles i've never heard about. booktok was FLOPPING with recommendations so this is truly a gift!
Loved this video! Really appreciate you going through why you loved those books!
Great video mate, thanks for creating and sharing!
I found Illborn at half price books and knew nothing about it. Boy was I shocked. I grabbed it because it was beautiful and spoke to me and wow I was blown away
This is my favorite video of yours! I’m so excited to read now

Definitely not haha!@@Steve_Stowers

Excellent choices & recommendations. Thank you, put a few n my wish list.
Excellent first video. Glad to see another vinyl fan!
Thank you for this list. I live in Northern Canada and am currently preparing to evacuate due to an approaching wildfire and am trying to decide which books to take with me. You helped me decide!
I was staggered and reeling when you said Fourth Wing
I love the Dandelion Dynasty! I'm almost halfway through the last book. I'm only sorry I didn't hear about it sooner. It's probably my new favorite fantasy series.
It's so good! Glad you are enjoying it!
Awesome selection of books. We have very similar reading tastes! 😀
Our taste is so well aligned! So here for The Wall of Storms, Lies of Locke Lamora, Words of Radiance, Piranesi, and The Greenbone Saga love! ✨
Hi 👋 some of the books I’ve given 5 stars too, always fantastic watching ur videos!! Happy reading to you…
A great list every book I have either read and loved or its on my TBR because I am sure I will love it 😂
Lies of Locke Lamora I struggled to finish but it ended off on enough of a good note that I decided to give the second novel a shot. I'm glad I did cuz it felt like an improvement and convinced me to stick around for the series
Thank you for recommending "Project Hail Mary". Just finished. This is one of the best books I've read. Cheers!
I love seeing The Dark Tower appreciation. My personal favorite is Wizard and Glass, but Wastelands and Drawing of the Three are also five star books for me

Thank you for this video. I really love classic fantasy 😅 dragons ,elves, wizards,..❤ Raymond feist, Weis & hickman, Terry goodkind..
What a list! I have so much catching up to do. I did just put up my favorite heroes list up and of course Roland had to be on it.
Great video idea! Oh yes, Roland would also be on my list. So iconic!
Dark Matter is still one of my favorite books! I read Recursion and also loved it. Upgrade was good but not as good as the others.
We share sooo many faves hahah, it's not even funny 🤪Something about great minds think alike? 🤣
Also, I'll take this as my reminder that I need to get to The Councillor already. I was kinda waiting on book 2, but since it's taking so long I figure I'll just read it now and then do a reread when we eventually get a continuation!

Yes haha! Fortunately The Councillor almost reads like a standalone!
We have a lot of overlap between our 5 star reads! Words of Radiance is my favorite as well. Why are guys so bothered by Shallan? I don't get it
Funny enough Shallan story was more interesting to me than Kaladans. I’m stuck halfway through oathbringer though :/
You got me - Subscribed
One series that does not get talked about a lot is The Prince of Nothing by R.Scott Bakker but it’s so good! Dark, but good. It’s the First Crusade mixed with the Silmarillion. And of course Malazan is brilliant!
Great video! I am new to fantasy,. I am looking for met first book to read. I watch the films, but now I want to read the books.
Lol I almost closed and switch windows when you mentioned The Fourth Wing in the beginning 😂
I absolutely LOVED Project Hail Mary! I think about it constantly 🖤🖤🖤👽💫✨
When I saw Fourth Wing, I almost stopped the video! lollll you got me there!
Haha!
I absolutely loved the entire Codex Alera series by Jim Butcher and The Band series by Nicholas Eames. I gave all of those books 5 stars.
Cool video. I’m gonna go on eBay and see if I can find some of these.
Great list. Project Hail Mary, Green Bones, Kaigen amazing!
Just finished The Blade Itself this morning. I liked it a lot, and I'm hoping to love it as much as you when I get to the Age of Madness.
Good to hear! Happy reading!
IMO the age of madness is even better. Tho Glokta is a hard character to beat.
Don’t skip the standalones
@tyrson4331 Good to know! Do I have to finish First law Trilogy first? Or can I mix those in between?

Haha, I am actually in the minority when it comes to Wizard and didn't think it was the best in the series! Great book though!
Didn’t like Wizard at all
@@GrahamRay2040 No accounting for taste.
Books we've both rated 5 star are Project Hail Mary and a bunch of Brando Sando books, lol
