Nah, I talked myself into it haha. Already have 2 ten gallons filled with nano fish. Only gotta do water changes once every two weeks. They're filled to the brim with plants though and have sponge filters in both.
Before I tell you my favorite fish in my 20 gallon tank, I want to thank you! We lost our electricity for 12 hours today and, with the help of my battery-powered air pump (purchased from Aquarium Coop on-line), foil blanket and all the info you provided via RUclips, it appears my fish made it through without harm. I am really grateful to you. Now, my favorite fish are the corydoras. I have 6 now (3 albino and 3 panda) and I love to watch them scoot around the tank...they have tons of personality.
Great suggestions! My current 20-gal setup has albino corydoras, green neon tetras, a flame red dwarf gourami, and amano shrimp. In the past, I've also kept German blue ram, neon tetras, cardinal tetras, marbled hatchetfish, furcata or forktail rainbowfish, betta fish, honey gourami, and balloon mollies (not all at the same time).
I've read a bunch of different information on German Blue Rams, but your intro to them gave me more (good) info than the last 10 sites trying to sell them to me! Thanks man!
I have the most normal 20 gallon ever. A planted tank with neon tetras, guppies, salt and pepper corys, and a betta. Very colorful and active tank, and the best thing is that they are all pretty inexpensive, easy to keep fish.
Great choices!! I keep nano fish so it's easier for me to hoard a variety in my 20 long lol. I have different schoolers like pork chop rasboras, green fire tetras, ember tetras, sparkling gourami, scarlet badis, all three types of dwarf corydoras, and more.
One of my favourite 20 gallon long setups was a species tank for 30 otos (back when I was trying to breed them). I’d heard from someone that collected them wild that they they found them in a moderately moving stream, so I setup a big block of rock work in the middle and used some moderate power heads to create a current that flowed around the rock. The otos would hang out on the rocks during the day, but in the evening they’d end up playing “nascar” and swam big circles around the tank. Super fun to watch. Kept them that way for about 6 months and then “upgraded” to a 90, and basically never saw them again in all the plants and wood. Neat tank.
I'm so happy because I just got some Pygmy corys for my 10 gallon planted tank, and I've been looking for them for forever! And I'm making you proud by having some fancy guppies as well
Can’t wait for the 40 gallon video! I have a heavily planted tank with Rasbora Hets, a Veiltail Betta, a Pair of Apistogramma Agassizii Double Reds, some Amano Shrimp, and a Super Red Bristlenose pleco
This video came at the perfect time as I'm getting my new 33 gallon tomorrow! I like the leopard Danio and my LFS seems to have them in quite regularly so I may get some once the aquarium is cycled. 😊 I originally had T. Heteromorpha but they died of a mystery illness (based on symptoms the most likely culprit was columnaris). After that I switched to Hengel's Rasbora and they're tough as nails! 😄 Very beautiful too, with that Day-Glo Orange stripe and lemon yellow fins. 😊
The tank upgrade went pretty well - I stumbled upon your video on how to net fish and I'd never seen that technique so we tried it and with the exception of one stubborn individual, it was quite quick. 😊
My favorite tank is my 20 gallon long. In it are: 7-Pristella Tetra, 7-Rasbora espei, 14 Panda Cory ( 8 original and 6 born in the tank) and my favorite; 10 Redline Rasbora. They are super cool long streamlined little schooling fish with a glowing red line along the body. Tons of plants and 3” of fine gravel mixed with sand.
you have 30 sum fish in a 20 long. man i have a rainbow shark, bala shark, pictus cat, 1 cory, 2 tetras, and two of the real small fish with neon line down the side. And I want to put a south american puffer in
Currently I have a heavily planted tank inhabited by a school of mixed tetras, a farlowella, some pigmy corys, pencil fish, some cherry shrimp, ottos and a centerpiece female Betta
Absolutely love your videos. I've learnt so much. Only been fish keeping for 6 months or so. Keep up the good work. Wish you could ship to Australia, but I fully appreciate why you can't. PS- I suped up my filters the way you suggested with amazing results.
I have a question, if i put 2 german blue ram in a 20 gallon tank, what others fishes can i keep with them and how many of them... i need your help please!!!! thank you!..
bought a couple apisto agasizii the other day, love they way the move around the tank, stop starting, waving their fins around, so cool how they filter a fine substrate through their gills too.
scampublic should be fine. 40g tank? Livebearers are ok with them. Plus livebearers will occupy higher in the tank. Female apistos can become territorial when breeding.
Group of emerald eye rasporas with a pair of neon dwarf gouramis , an albino bristlenose pleco and a ton of cherry shrimp in a fully planted 20long with some floating dwarf water lettuce
Love your videos. I have a 55 Gallon tank with a large variety of fish. Platies, Mollies, Bloodfin, Neon, and Serpae Tetras, 4 corydoras, 1 khuli loach with 3 tiger sand loaches, 1 pictus cat, a few killies, one blue gourami, one redtail shark, some zebra danios, and A male and female pineapple swordtail along with their off spring. Now I know this sounds like a lot, and I'm sure I'm forgetting a few, but everything in my tank is very happy and growing nicely. And I have had this tank since the later part of last July.
I'd go with a school of 10 of the first fish I ever bought... the bloodfin tetra. No need for a heater and they school great! They also can be found quite low priced. There's no need to spend a fortune.
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS SO MUCH THEY ARE SO INFORMATIVE!! I am thinking of doing a planted species only 10 gallon tank but i cant decide what Edit: probably white clouds or adfs
Perfect timing, I have a 20 gallon. Rescaping and going to add fish soon (only have a couple nerites 5 zebra danios) massive change coming to it and going to make it nice. This video will help
The best fish I did in my 20 gal long was a green sunfish and a juvenile channel cat. I had to take them back to the lake where I caught them because they were getting too big to keep. I now have a school of Dace minnows and two Madtoms and two Jhonny Darters. I have set up another 20 long to use as a freshwater jellyfish tank. I've done research on freshwater jellyfish and getting the tank to set up for them. I'm using Coontail and Elodea as water plants. I have placed about two hundred daphnia in the tank. Using a Wisper PF-10 5-10 gallon nano hang on the back filter with extended tubes that go into the gravel. That is modified with more sponge in the filter area. They eat zooplankton and small animals like daphnia. Hopefully, the daphnia will have populated a good number by the summer of 2020 and I can get a few of them. These jellies require real clean water and live in most US states. I know of a pond in Blacksburg VA. where I can get bryozoans that are also good filter feeders. When you think about it all tropical fish are someone's native fish. I like the native fish where I live. the good thing is if you have to move and tear down your tank you can release the fish where you caught them. Have you ever studied the native fish in your state? The most responsible thing you must do when starting a native tank is to make sure the fish you want to keep is not on the endangered list. Then you have to know the ph of the water which is usually the same as your tap but not always. What I like to do is fill my aquarium with the water from where I'm going to get my fish filter the water through a very fine floss as to not get anything I don't want later in the tank. Also the plants and let the tank cycle with one fish usually a Madtom because they are a hardy fish. Then in a month, the other Madtom and in a month or little more after that add the school of Dace or Shinner minnows. The very first tank I had was a 10 gal and I had 6 neon tetras, two hatchet fish two cory cats and a freshwater flounder. With an under gravel filter with a box filter in one corner and an airstone in another. I had them for three years with no losses then I had to give the tank up when I went into the US Navy. I enjoy your show and learned something about filtration media in filters and how to modify them. I thought you always needed charcoal. Did you know shinners can tolerate water temperatures from 32- 104 degrees Fahrenheit or 0-40 degrees Celcius. A good choice when you live in a trailer with inadequate heating and air conditioning. But the tank has been doing fine so far even have a solar generator charged up in case the power goes off it will run both tanks for a month.
I’ve been researching for a couple months now. Received a couple books for Christmas and I’ve taken notes on your top 10’s and top 20’s. Good things come to those who wait right? I just came across a 30 gallon with stand and decorations for a sweet price. The people upgraded to a 55. I’m going with Neons and Red Phantoms, Nanus Cory’s, Dalmatian Platy’s, Red Flame Gourami’s, Harlequin Razzies and later some shrimp. Love watching and your full of great info. Thanks from an old timer who is starting up again for the 4th time.
Love the videos Cory! I kept a silver dollar (along with various other fish) for 10 years in a 20 until he passed away. Great fish. I’d love to see top 5 for a 75 gallon/ or top 10 mean-Aggressive fish
Hiya Cory and crew - I am slowly gathering supplies together for my upcoming planted 20 long. I got notification that your box has arrived at the PO - need to go grab it (sponge filters and air stones, etc). There will be another order soon. Hope you are enjoying your MBUapalooza weekend. I know that I am! Those danios are now on my list of potential stock for the tank. Thanks for another great video.
My and my boyfriend's 20 long has six Praecox rainbows (3 males, 3 females), 3 kuhli loaches, and 3 Golden wonder killifish :) it's a rocking tank with driftwood, anubias, java fern and java moss. The kuhlis love the caves formed under the driftwood and the rainbows love darting around among the anubias leaves. One of our favourite tanks.
those Harlequin would be my second choice behind tiger barbs and maybe Buenos Aires Tetras which I fell in love with during my first tank. you LOVE those minnow looking fish. Theyve never done it for me... I really like deep bodied fish like barbs, cichlids, etc
I'm starting out a colony of Neolamprologus Multifasciatus, although if I am being fair, I can already see them going into a 40 breeder when the colony grows. Super cool fish!
My 20 long had 8 Panda Corys, 2 Male Guppies, 4 Female Guppies, Double Tail Betta, 1 Yellow Rabbit Snail, Mystery Snails, 1 Bamboo Shrimp, Yellow Shrimps, and tons of Plants. They are all now in a 55 gallon tank with an addition of 4 Bronze Corys, 6 Salt and Pepper Corys, and Taiwan Bee Mischlings. I do find it difficult though to find fish that are compatible (or with the right temperament) to coexist with my shrimp, any suggestions?
Hey Cory, love the channel. What are the top 7 fish you would keep in an outdoor tub/pond? Am enjoying bingeing on all the info you are putting out and see my tank numbers growing ;)
I've got a 29G with Ember Tettras and Habrususs Corydoras. They go amazzing together, and they're both smaller fish so you could easily keep schools of them in a 20G
In a 20 long. African dwarf frogs with a betta for the color. (And I just love betta fish) Planted with lots of hiding spaces. My kids loved it when they were young. Might do another now that I’m reminiscing…. Also I used silk plants back then. Would love to give it another go with live plants.
No way this is a legit Aquarium Co-Op video , there was no mention anywhere of Guppys !!!! , but seriously very helpful as always , would like some sugestions as to what to keep in a 8ft by 2 by 2 , ive got some rough ideas what i want to do with it but would love to know what you would do , i have a love of American cichlids but the fish room is already going to contain 9 other largest containing those
I'm running a 29 gallon planted tank with 3 panda corys, 10 harlequin rasboras, 10 celestial danios, about 20-30 neocaridina shrimp along with 3 nerite snails. Love the look so far. Seems to be finding its balance. My tank was set up about 3-4 months ago. running a fluval 2.0 light
Personally, I say the Kribensis is the greatest 20 gallon fish! I had one of them in a 20 gallon, with a couple other fish, and it was the Greatest freshwater aquarium Fish experience I've had to this day! I could literally just watch the Kribensis just swim near the bottom, and explore, all day!!
My favorites in a twenty are any Corydoras, and ghost catfish. I'm partial to cats of all kinds. Right now I've got mostly Corycats, a golden wonder killi, and a couple of female guppies that were being picked on in another tank. The guppies are much happier now. I looove ember tetras but they're hard to find here!
Right now I have 2 SA Bumblebee catfish and a BN pleco in one of my 20Ls. It's kind of a boring tank since they all like to hide, but I eventually want to replace it with a 40B and don't want to add more fish until that's done. My other 20L is a mix of Harlequins, Serpae tetras and Panda cories... so 2 out of 3 made the list.
I love my peacock gudgeons in my 20 gallon long. Their coloring is so bright and beautiful. They are also prolific breeders. I looked for those rainbows for a fish to live in the upper half of my tank but I couldn't find them anywhere near me.
For a very different sort of tank try an Axolotol! Even though it's not a fish lol.. Super cool to watch and live a long time.. do great in a 20 gallon just keep them cool
I kept some Mad Tom's which I caught in the creek in a 20 long for about a year. I have since moved them in my 300. Very cool fish. Out of your list, I would like to put some of those Julidochromis in my 75 in dining room. I'm not a big Cichlid fan, but those look really cool, and the albino would look really cool as a pseudo "cave fish"
No idea how big a 20g is in liters as I'm from England but my faves by far are panda cories and rummynose tetras. Just added some ottos too and they're fun! Thanks for the info tho, if I ever get room for another community tank I'll be coming back for some of those names.
I have two 20 highs. I have my first low tech heavily planted community tank with five male endlers 1 dwarf groumie and 8 corydora catfish and about a billion Malaysian trumpet snails in my dining room. My 20 heavily planted low tech in my bedroom has a trio of fancy guppies and a trio of ballon mollies and twenty fry. It’s my first time keeping mollies, guppies, endlers, Cory cats or a groumie I love it. I do twice weekly 20% water changes on my tanks because of high bioloads.
Loved the video. But, can you help me out with what fish to put in a 20 gallon aquarium on outdoor covered patio. I live in Northern California (East Bay California)
if you've enjoyed this video. Check out our top 10 for a 10 gallon aquarium video: ruclips.net/video/0MzfLrSqfXY/видео.html
Sir can you keep them all in a 20gal tank?
Is it possible to do a 20 gallon North American Predator Tank.
This comes in handy as petco just claimed another dollar per gallon victim. Went in for another 10 gallon, ended up with a 20 long lol.
DirtySheets75 you’ll thank petco later 10gals are just a lot of maintenance and you can’t really fit a lot of fish in there.
Nah, I talked myself into it haha. Already have 2 ten gallons filled with nano fish. Only gotta do water changes once every two weeks. They're filled to the brim with plants though and have sponge filters in both.
DirtySheets75 that would explain it. Sweet!
I don't even wanna admit to how many we bought.
Amen 3 months later.
Glad to hear my video helped and you were prepared!
Kingsley Chong I have this outlet thing that’s portable so I use that and my fish don’t even get touched
Do the different corys school together?
I live in Colorado and love trout fishing. I’ve been looking for a small trout looking fish and I think the leopard danio is great.
You're gonna have a heart attack when you find out about Celestial Pearl Danios.
That's exactly why im going with the celestial danios. Reminds me of a trout. Love the leopard danios as well
I wonder what a cross between the celestial pearl danios and leopard danios would look like???
Great suggestions! My current 20-gal setup has albino corydoras, green neon tetras, a flame red dwarf gourami, and amano shrimp.
In the past, I've also kept German blue ram, neon tetras, cardinal tetras, marbled hatchetfish, furcata or forktail rainbowfish, betta fish, honey gourami, and balloon mollies (not all at the same time).
I forgot how long ago this was, when I saw this stocking I definitely knew it was a while ago. 😂😂
Dont switch your Pepper Corys with the ones from this video
They are more resilient compared to the Panda Cory
Thanks for the advice. I think Pandas are really cute, but a little expensive so I'm glad to know I made the right choice with the peppers.
Im currently working on the same setup as yours, can I ask how many tetras and guppies do you have? I dont want to overstock.
How many each
Inquiring minds wish to know quantities...
Great choices!! I keep nano fish so it's easier for me to hoard a variety in my 20 long lol. I have different schoolers like pork chop rasboras, green fire tetras, ember tetras, sparkling gourami, scarlet badis, all three types of dwarf corydoras, and more.
I keep guppies in a 20 gallon! Especially if you're a beginner, because they're so colorful, hardy, and active.
Top 5 for 50 gallon
Then 75 ;)
Yes please
Please Cory. TIA
RUclipsDatBoi chiclids done
Hi Cory ❤️ your videos, top 10 that can go in a 50 gallon
Do top 10 for a 55 gallon
One of my favourite 20 gallon long setups was a species tank for 30 otos (back when I was trying to breed them). Adam Till from Arctic Lights Aquatics so did they ever bred with that setup?
SpeekofDee Nope. Got one fry that I saw in the 90, but that was it
I'm so happy because I just got some Pygmy corys for my 10 gallon planted tank, and I've been looking for them for forever! And I'm making you proud by having some fancy guppies as well
Those GBRs look amazing! Every time I watch one of these “Top _ Fish” videos, I always say to myself “ooh...I should get some of those”!
Can’t wait for the 40 gallon video! I have a heavily planted tank with Rasbora Hets, a Veiltail Betta, a Pair of Apistogramma Agassizii Double Reds, some Amano Shrimp, and a Super Red Bristlenose pleco
Alex Rubio your tank sounds awesome!
Love this series! Maybe you could do stocking ideas for different size tanks next?
This video came at the perfect time as I'm getting my new 33 gallon tomorrow! The fish you didn’t mention that’s one of my favorites is the black phantom tetra💯🐠❤️

GDAD TV all you’re fish are dead now I’m assuming
@@tobywatson452 not with lots of plants and a deep sand substrate. It allows for more fish
I love aquarium co op they gave me the idea to have apistgroma and I love them so much and they are a joy to have and thank you
Currently I have a heavily planted tank inhabited by a school of mixed tetras, a farlowella, some pigmy corys, pencil fish, some cherry shrimp, ottos and a centerpiece female Betta
Cool how bigs your tank?
Absolutely love your videos. I've learnt so much. Only been fish keeping for 6 months or so. Keep up the good work. Wish you could ship to Australia, but I fully appreciate why you can't. PS- I suped up my filters the way you suggested with amazing results.

Washington
Great vids, would love to see a video for top ten fish for 75+ gallon aquariums!
Great video! I love the Leopard Danios!!! What is the best janitor fish?
Great vid!!! Love the success on the channel
bought a couple apisto agasizii the other day, love they way the move around the tank, stop starting, waving their fins around, so cool how they filter a fine substrate through their gills too.
I wonder if I could keep those with heterandria formosa in a 40b with a lot of hiding spots
scampublic should be fine. 40g tank? Livebearers are ok with them. Plus livebearers will occupy higher in the tank. Female apistos can become territorial when breeding.
I’ve had german rams, honey gourami and schools or corydoras julii. Lovely little combo 😊
How are they? I’m thinking of getting some rams and now I’m wondering if dwarf goirami would work aswell with some cardinals and corys
Thanks to youtube, I have really been turned onto these leopard danios! Planning on them for my upper level fish in my new tank.
Group of emerald eye rasporas with a pair of neon dwarf gouramis , an albino bristlenose pleco and a ton of cherry shrimp in a fully planted 20long with some floating dwarf water lettuce
I love aquarium co-op! I just got 10 Marimo moss balls for my 100 gallon tank and they came perfect!!
im impressed by how much material you put out
I love these series of vids! Awesome idea!
Extremely beautiful linebred rams you´re showing there. Makes me consider adding them to my next tank. And I love the guppies with the gertrudaes.
Love your videos. I have a 55 Gallon tank with a large variety of fish. Hey Cory BIG FAN from Australia
I'd go with a school of 10 of the first fish I ever bought... the bloodfin tetra. No need for a heater and they school great! They also can be found quite low priced. There's no need to spend a fortune.
Made it within the first half hour! Yesssss
I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS SO MUCH THEY ARE SO INFORMATIVE!! I am thinking of doing a planted species only 10 gallon tank but i cant decide what
Edit: probably white clouds or adfs
Perfect timing, I have a 20 gallon. Rescaping and going to add fish soon (only have a couple nerites 5 zebra danios) massive change coming to it and going to make it nice. This video will help
Had a few pacus, Peacock chichlids, tiger loaches and a mixed overstocked variety of fishes in a 20 once.

I agree with Cory's #1 pick, I have been planning on getting those.
Love the rainbows 💜💜💜
Thank you, I’m starting up a 23g in March - top fish for me is Salt&Pepper corys (Habarosa corydora). 💚 your channel
All beautiful fish, I didn't know about that the rams needed to be so hot. Great info!!
7 is my favourite number :) great selections
I’ve been researching for a couple months now. Received a couple books for Christmas and I’ve taken notes on your top 10’s and top 20’s. Good things come to those who wait right? I just came across a 30 gallon with stand and decorations for a sweet price. The people upgraded to a 55. Guppies of course!! :D Right now though, I have a single betta boy in his very own 20 gallon
Did you ever try putting fish with your betta? Ive seen videos of bettas being nice in a community
I love my Serpae tetras in a 20 long, I have around 11 plus 4 albino Cory cats.
I’d love to see top 10 for a 50 gallon! Love the videos!

Is it ok to have a cleaner fish with snails and shrimp??
@@gabyyddiaz What's the cleaner fish's species name?
Hey Cory, love the channel. What are the top 7 fish you would keep in an outdoor tub/pond? Am enjoying bingeing on all the info you are putting out and see my tank numbers growing ;)
Good video man. Enjoyed the quick info
Late to the party but I second the Leopard Danio they are just very cool looking!
love these types of videos!!!!! so helpful!!!!! 👏🏻🙏🏻
I've got a 29G with Ember Tettras and Habrususs Corydoras. They go amazzing together, and they're both smaller fish so you could easily keep schools of them in a 20G
Top fish for 75 or 90 gallon?
Yep has I'll have 2 dwarf cichlids 9 silver tip tetras maybe some panda corys could you recommend one fish that gets like 15 cm
Ooh maybe some dwarf neon rainbows
Oh can I keep shrimp with my dwarf cichlids
@@bunnybuns6638 probably not, cichlids most likely eat'em ,..
For the first fish tank what’s the name of that long yellow fish? They look super pretty and I want to get one.
I've had bad luck with harlequin rasboras. But the ones I do have do great in my 20 gallon with my dwarf gourami.
Hi Cory, Just got my first order from aquarium coop and love everything I got. I would love to see a top list of BIG fish for tanks 75 gallons and up!
In a 20 long. African dwarf frogs with a betta for the color. (And I just love betta fish) Planted with lots of hiding spaces. My kids loved it when they were young. Might do another now that I’m reminiscing…. Also I used silk plants back then. Would love to give it another go with live plants.
2:56 What's that goldfish doing in an 85* tank with the rams? That's 20 degrees too warm, isn't it?
That is incredibly too warm for a goldfish, i hope he isnt still in there.
Possibly to help eradicate an infection?
I raised a comet goldfish 2 years in 82° water. Living in AZ you can't help the water getting warmer
Ya
Victor Barbachan I mean... you could get a chiller
Those rainbow fish looked cool. Never seen them before. Great vid 👍
I breed my panda and balloon mollies in my 25 gallon tank! I love it
We did a 20 gallon hex with live plants and small schooling fish, different tetras,
You said you keep the German Blue Rams at 85 degrees, but I saw a cold water goldfish in that same tank..
No way this is a legit Aquarium Co-Op video , there was no mention anywhere of Guppys !!!! , but seriously very helpful as always , would like some sugestions as to what to keep in a 8ft by 2 by 2 , ive got some rough ideas what i want to do with it but would love to know what you would do , i have a love of American cichlids but the fish room is already going to contain 9 other largest containing those
Cant wait to see the 29/30 gallon list!!
i have Ram cichlids and black tetras (Gymnocorymbus ternetzi) they work really good together in a planted tank
I’ve got yellow neocaridinas and Chilli Rasboras. They don’t predate the shrimplets and are very personable and active.
Loved all your choices. If only I could get my hands on Dean’s GBR, he’s is breeding the most precious of gems, they sparkle. 💜
got 2 electric blues in my 20 gallon along with blue rams and bolivians they really help to brighten up the tank
This was uploaded on my birthday!
Just got some Panda Cory's today, thanks for the suggestion, they're so cute!
Clown plecos are one of my faves to keep
Right now I have 2 SA Bumblebee catfish and a BN pleco in one of my 20Ls. It's kind of a boring tank since they all like to hide, but I eventually want to replace it with a 40B and don't want to add more fish until that's done. My other 20L is a mix of Harlequins, Serpae tetras and Panda cories... so 2 out of 3 made the list.
I’m not sure why but at 2:00 I was reminded why I got into the hobby.
Captions at 6:03 "They're a little spendy, at $999" yeah, you could say that 😆
Do baby bichirs in a 20 grow out count for my favorite to keep in a 20?
These videos are great
Great stock choices for 20 gallon tanks!
Threadfin rainbow. Heavily planted tank with some top water plants.
Loved the video. But, can you help me out with what fish to put in a 20 gallon aquarium on outdoor covered patio. I live in Northern California (East Bay California)
