I love the design of the Zaku Mariner, I was so happy when it got added to the game. I thought it was going to be a better version of the Zaku Marine Type one of my favorite lower cost MS’s. However this suit has to be on everyone’s top 10 list of WORSE MS’s in the game. I can’t come up with a good defensive argument on why you should pick it. After it was buffed I only have the unit level 2 and took it out in practice and it felt like nothing really changed.
I wonder what BB was cooking here. Pretty much nonexistent accumulation, hard to use missiles... I've seen it do some nasty work with backpack missiles, but other Supports at the same cost can do the same in 1 or 2 shots.
Heat wire should definitely heavy stagger. IMO a unique change could be that the heat wire topples which would allow the suit to use it's other missiles on enemies. Suit just isn't fun to play.
A toppling wire could be unique in the future. Maybe not on this suit so it’s not countering the raids that are chasing it. Unless it doesn’t go through MA.
@@aquavengeance Seems like a design philosophy that they're reticent to reintroduce weapons that topple from range. If I remember correctly in GBO1 the GP02's beam cannon toppled at range. Though that makes sense since it's beam cannon is a Skurie cannon and those instantly topple in GB02 so I don't see why it wouldn't here. Other than for balance. Toppling at range could be overpowered depending on it's implementation but I think at this point it's one of the few gimmicks that haven't been explored by the game. It'd be a good opportunity once implemented to revitalize some of the suits that'd really benefit from a perk like that. In any case between now and then the Mariner needs revisiting. It's still awful now.
If everything works out setup wise, you got some good damage potential. But like no one wanted to play ball with the suit so it was just a pain to play. It’s not worth it.
The Zaku Mariner needs more than just a Buff, it needs a complete overhaul like the Gouf Heavyarms. With how the Mariner is set up like, it should play like a low cost Zssa and just spam missiles.
Wish I enjoyed playing this unit, however its a pain to get a half decent performance out of and you just don't feel like it has the tools to deal with just about any situation a Support has to. Damage was the easy answer and I'd say the one that has the least damn effect on if this unit can perform with the shit hits the pavement.. damage isn't worth a damn if you miss! To me damage is a bonus in a Support, the real worth of such a unit is its ability to disrupt the opposing team to trip up folks and make openings for its team members to take advantage of. So they could buff the damage all day and this thing would be an utter failure of design just the same which is sad cause I like the idea of the missile boat that could mix it up a little. I've gotten this thing to perform just to get footage in the past but, in every cause I knew if I fielded another unit the results would have been better. Least that is my take away.

and yet basic suits like the zee and geara zulu can be god suits at 700 but they cant get this poor gremlin of a suit to play wortha shit

I love the design of the backpack and other thruster bits, but it's a support. Supports will always default to getting the short end of the stick.
Zaku mariner sucks and the gave us Dom HA who has 4 insta stuns...
And can nearly 3 tap gens lol.
still unplayable (all of it's weapons blow chunks, really should just change them to stuns)
I think I’m pretty good with this suit as I once got 6 or 7 kills with only a couple of deaths
The best way to fix this suit and to actually make it useful is to delete it from the game entirely
