Was looking for NCAA games online and didn't wanna pay an outrageous amount on eBay, so I settled for ncaa 13. It's a solid game, but I would prefer simpler recruiting personally. But, the gameplay is ahead of its time for sure, love it!
props. I started with the Colecovision in '82. I have to rate NCAA 13, next to NFL 2K5 as the two greatest console football titles, of all-time. College Football 25 is looking phenomenal. However, don't know if it will feature presentation on par with the previously mentioned games.
NCAA 13 is the best game in the series and I have all the NCAA games since bill walsh college football. It's way better than 12 because in NCAA 12, every LB can jump like they have Zone KO elite in madden. It's also much better than 14 because NCAA 14 has some serious Physics issues.

I never actually got to play 14, still own 13 and play every few months and get addicted for hours playing dynasty mode. Recruiting is so addicting and actually a challenge
The last legitimately good football game EA ever made was NCAA 13. It most definitely has the best recruiting of the PS3 era to me. It didn't have the immersive little things PS2 did like whether or not a player was Mister Football for their state and their HS numbers, but yeah. I legitimately love this game and it's a big reason why I parted ways with 14. 13 is the better game overall yet 14 is the more celebrated even though I believe it is worse than 13. 13 is a simulation game that really makes you work for what you get. Dynasty is really good and the physics is just as good. 10-13 were solid, pity Madden stopped being able to import draft classes after 12.
You made one mistake about 90 seconds in: The Teambuilder mode was not added in NCAA Football 12. It actually made its Debut in the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of NCAA Football 10. Your video overall was a great retrospective!
13 is my favorite. I never bought 14 at release and bought a copy more recently and was not a fan of it as much as 13. Recruiting is one of my favorite things about 13 for sure.
Finally someone else feels this way about 13. I never got to grow up with any of the NCAA football games unfortunately, so by the time I got interested in these games it was too late. I bought NCAA 13 on eBay for $15 and have had blast. I rebuilt Utah State, FAU, San Jose State, and even did a road to glory. I always felt like I was missing out because no one makes videos on NCAA 13. From what I have seen from NCAA 14 videos, I think that 13 is better. After watching this video, I feel like my opinion is a lot more validated. I'd also recommend 13 to anyone, as it's way less of a hassle to find, and won't break your bank account either.
I prefered the design philosophy of recruiting in 13 over 14. Sure it was a bit more time consuming and could get tedious, but it treated the prospects more like actual characters, and less like they are just entries in a spreadsheet: ruclips.net/video/7xSKn4zRx24/видео.html
It's kind of crazy how EA seemed to genuinely put in more love and depth into their college football games than the freaking Madden games at this point in time they had every incentive to just make the same games but slightly different but these games were still really good while madden was just decent maybe the developers were different and were given more time or something idk that could explain it

I know 14 gets all the love, but as someone who never had 14 this game is my goat. The amount of hours I put in this game in my childhood is unmatched.
I still play 13 religiously to this day and depending on how 24's revived I'll probably keep playing it till I'm in the ground. It's also the reason I never got 14 because why bother when I got 13 which is the same game aside from a few changes and no Heisman Challenge
The main thing that 13 had over 14 was draft eligible underclassmen actually left early if they put up great stats. In 14 your star 99 overall rated underclassman edge rusher could have 50 sacks his junior year or redshirt sophomore and still return to school. In real life he’d be gone.
Personally I prefer 13 because of the school traditional pre-game stuff (helped it feel more lifelike pre-game vs 14) versus a highlight reel of it on 14 with countryish music (never been a fan of country haha)
I was always torn on the changes to recruiting between '13 and '14. It was fun in '13 to be able to tailor your recruiting pitch to the players (Hometown, playing time, etc) It was more realistic and it took more strategy to get a commitment. And if you were losing a recruiting battle you typically knew why. Whereas in '14, you just assigned the points and it seemed random why they picked your team other than if the team had a good record or not. On the other hand, recruiting in '13 took sooooo long. It felt like a chore, especially early in the season when you had 35 targets. Hopefully the new game will find a happy medium between complex and fast-paced.
Even though I Prefer 14, hell it sucked when I lost my copy of it. I liked to play 13 as well and yeah it’s underrated but sadly it’s overshadowed by 14.
Thx for the video. I enjoyed it. 👍🏻 I recently bought 13 used cheap (under 15$, like new cond.) after playing 12 & 11 for a long time. I would get 14 but the inflated price for that one used is insane so I happily pass. I only care about/play Dynasty (8 minute quarters). I've chosen UO, OU, UGA, UM, CLEM, & ND -- one each from the power 5 conferences & the elite independent. I also take the time to edit the coaches names to the real life current coach. I guess one could do the same with the players but many are seniors and just not worth the effort imo for one season. I let the computer generate fake names. So far I find 13 similar to 12 with some additional flash and a few new features ...it is a little tougher than 12, I used to easily blowout teams there --especially with the multiple hail mary passes. I like the espn + sponsor branded presentation like the studio update thing for example as it feels more like a real televised game and doesnt interrupt gameplay too much. Some of the new catch animations are sweet beauty! Recruiting is definitely deeper, which is good - but also takes more time to get through so you can progress to next week
I always preferred the recruiting in NCAA 13 over NCAA 14. Even though it was more time-consuming and a little tedious, I felt like the process of having to call prospects every week to talk to them about their personal goals and desires went a long way towards humanizing the prospects and making them feel more like actual characters, instead of just a collection of attribute ratings attached to a name and a home state. A few years ago, I made a whole video praising NCAA 13 for having this extra degree of humanity, and lamenting that NCAA 14 kind of got rid it and made recruiting more impersonal and gamified: ruclips.net/video/7xSKn4zRx24/видео.html
I still have my copy of ‘13. It is a great game in its own right. I think the added care and attention to detail in NCAA stems from them having a different dev team versus Madden. Those guys seemed to really strive to make NCAA feel different than Madden.
During the pandemic. I started playing this game again. Had a very long franchise mode going on there. I didn't get NCAA 14 until a couple of years ago. I am a defensive guy, so for me 13 was a better playing game.
You made some great points in this one. NCAA 11’s gameplay is amazing (imo) when compared to NCAA 13’s arcade feel. But NCAA 13’s presentation I feel like blows away NCAA 11’s. I always catch myself going back and forth between the 2
I agree, I prefer 13 to 14, better overall gameplay, no wonky Physics, no annoying amount of Shoelace Tackles

I like how compared to 14, 13 doesn’t give a montage before the game
I still play 13 religiously to this day and depending on how 24's revived I'll probably keep playing it till I'm in the ground. It's also the reason I never got 14 because why bother when I got 13 which is the same game aside from a few changes and no Heisman Challenge
no point in purchasing 14, unless one prefers dumbed-down recruiting. A brighter color palette can't trump that
The main thing that 13 had over 14 was draft eligible underclassmen actually left early if they put up great stats. In 14 your star 99 overall rated underclassman edge rusher could have 50 sacks his junior year or redshirt sophomore and still return to school. In real life he’d be gone.
One of my favorite games of all time
Personally I prefer 13 because of the school traditional pre-game stuff (helped it feel more lifelike pre-game vs 14) versus a highlight reel of it on 14 with countryish music (never been a fan of country haha)
I love you for posting this. Add in the dumbed down recruiting in 14, and it disqualifies it as GOAT. Despite its brighter color palette etc.
06 is the GOAT but 13 was awesome very realistic.
Maybe you can review MVP Baseball 06 and 07. AKA the college baseball games.
I remember playing the older ncaa football games for the ps2 but nothing beats 13 imo
Even though I Prefer 14, hell it sucked when I lost my copy of it. I liked to play 13 as well and yeah it’s underrated but sadly it’s overshadowed by 14.
I still play this game to this day on my Xbox 360 🙌
Thx for the video. I enjoyed it. 👍🏻
I recently bought 13 used cheap (under 15$, like new cond.) after playing 12 & 11 for a long time.
I have 13, which I got for like $4.99 compared to $89.99 price tag for 14
Hated when lex marston buried the game in his retrospective and hyped 14. Glad you do good
I hate how 14 doesn’t have the pre game presentation elements of 12 and 13
one reason it's inferior to 12 and 13.
A few years ago, I made a whole video praising NCAA 13 for having this extra degree of humanity, and lamenting that NCAA 14 kind of got rid it and made recruiting more impersonal and gamified:

That’s why you have to create the max amount of prospects in dynasty in 14 so teams stay good
I still have my copy of ‘13.
This is my favorite NCAA Football behind 06.
I have been a diehard Baylor fan since birth so of course my favorite NCAA is the one with RG3 on it lmao
You made some great points in this one. NCAA 11’s gameplay is amazing (imo) when compared to NCAA 13’s arcade feel. But NCAA 13’s presentation I feel like blows away NCAA 11’s. I always catch myself going back and forth between the 2
how is the presentation better in 13? I always thought the presentation in 11 was among the best..
I think if the coaching skill trees some of the logic and physics from 14 were in this game it would’ve been the greatest.
12 hands down my all time favorite football game ,, 2nd too my fav game Bo3
12 was strong
I’ve said for years everything everyone thinks they remember about loving in 14 was actually in 13. Better gameplay and scouting in 13.
I have way too many hours in this game, easily my favorite football game of all time
As somone who would always play 13 before cfb 25 looking at the 14 gameplay looked a lot different from 13 and i like that
