It always kills me that Ippo is more terrified of Mashiba than anyone else in the series. And ya just know, Mashiba is laughing his ass off about it on the inside!
And this hits you more in the manga, where you see that Ippo is actually a better fighter than depicted in the anime version, he's like... more technical, and yet he fears Mashiba like a monster. But yeah, Ippo is like a puppy outside the ring.

Ryou is probably one of my favorite anime characters cause to be honest. He is one of the most unintentionally funny anime characters I've seen so far
He really is, he grown on me massively, and deep down, I do think he's got a heart of gold.
He probably only shows this part to his sister

I cant seem to remember which episode it is when Ryo Mashiba goes to his parents grave and claims he wont depend on anyone. He also states that he will protect Kumi. I am not sure if this is manga canon as well.
