I just got a 100% british wool cable knit sweater at the thrift store for $7 and i live in a small town in the south. Definitely worth it to check the thrift store for good sweaters
Great advice :) You were in my head earlier this year when I had loaded up my cart with cute clothes but I stopped and looked closer at the fabric- all plastic. I closed the website and ended up finding even better stuff at Nordstrom’s anniversary sale with much better fabrics. You saved me! 😅
They have to make it cute to bait you to purchase. 😅 Good call leaving that cart! Norstrom has a small but mighty Reformation collection. I believe it’s one of the few places you can get reformation on sale without it being final sale. ❤️
My Mother gave me the best advice regarding shoes. She said you can spend a fortune on an outfit and if you wear cheap shoes, that ensemble will become cheapened. She also said a great and “good” pair of shoes will make an inexperienced ensemble look expensive. I have followed her advice and can’t wear cheap footwear! Great video!!!
And she is a hundred on this! Nothing ruins an entire outfit like a cheap pair of shoes. The shoes is the foundation of the entire ensemble and needs to be substantial enough to support everything else you wear on top. And I agree, a good pair of shoes can “save” an entire outfit, but not vice versa. ❤️🥰
Omg yes, your tip about shoes is something I had to learn the hard way because my previous shoes did not hold up at all after a year :/ now I have to buy more and this time I am going to splurge because it saves money in the long run.
Great advice for footwear! The same goes for work wear. Carhartt boots are not the tried and true, hard wearing work wear that Carhartt coats and overalls have built a great reputation on. Again, Great advice and keep up the great work
I’m not familiar with Carhartt. I did take a look at their shoes selection on their website. The price is rather steep as well; and based on your experience with their shoes I’d agree to steer away from their footwear. (It’s still a better situation than H&M trying to sell polyurethane boots at $80 tho 😅)
Hey Gnarly!! I really liked this video, I’m a huge sustainable fashion nerd :) a few brands I think you may like based on your style (all which I’ve personally ordered from) - Leap Concept, The Knotty Ones, Sapir Bachar, Poetry Fashion, Ozma, Nisolo.
where would you recommend buying a classic pair of black ankle/calf length boots, probably around $500 max budget? just a classic pair of leather boots basically but I don't want to make the "buys shoes from a clothing store" mistake, because I was literally considering reformation for boots but after your review, im like hm maybe not.
I highly recommend the see by Chloe Mallory combat boots since I have tested them out myself. I put links in the description (utube is weird about links in comments); there’s a try on link as well for these boots. They do go on sale on and off frequently so if you find a good sale period this is within your budget. I also recommend Coach shoes for both quality and comfort. They’ve been in the business for long enough and from my own purchases the quality is definitely there (although the brand itself is kind of dated). A pair of ankle boots I’ve been eyeballing is the Maverick Ankle Boot Studio Amelia. This is a classic and timeless design and a nice contrast to the combat boot style. And just a tip, I don’t know how soon you need new boots, but this is the worst time to purchase boots as we transition from summer to fall. All previously discounted shoes would’ve been placed back to retail because they know these will be in demand from consumers. If you can, I’d wait closer to Christmas when stores will start to get rid of boots inventory in prep for spring release. That’s when you should pounce. You can get a luxury brand pair of boots (made in Italy, France etc) with your budget. Not only will they look insanely fabulous and feel like clouds, they will also retain their value over time. And when you’re sick of them, they resell pretty high as well. ❤️
@@gnarlyasmr ah I love all your suggestions thank you so much for this info!! and yeah you're so right about being the worst time trying to buy quality boots, I'll wait till the Christmas sales to try and get a better deal
I've noticed your vids are focused on male tailoring/man-tailored outfits/shoes. What are your recs for feminine focused lines/shoes? (To be clear, I'm not saying masculine styling is bad, just interested in something I don't normally shop for).
I’ve mentioned women’s shoes a while back. Thank you Alyssa for the response! I had trouble remembering which one it was Lol! The recent ones have been more masculine wear oriented because I received more questions for menswear in general later on. I’ll do an updated women’s footwear recommendations as well ❤️

That is a steal! I’ve never had such luck at thrift stores in general unfortunately. 😪 I’m curious, how do you wash British wool; was it preshrunk?
Wow, green looks so good on you 😊 Thanks for the video!!!!
Agree! Forest Green looks so lovely on her ❤
Thank you so much ladies! I’m super relieved it didnt turn out like broccoli florets 😅😅😅
@@gnarlyasmr I love the way you carry yourself in your fashion wear. I love the elegant style. 💫💫
Thank you so much Lavinia 🥹🙏
Noted. Don't buy shoes from a retail store that focuses on clothes.
Most fast fashion retailers, avoid their footwear, bags & accessories side hustle. 😊

all my homies hate fast fashion 😤
