Yeah new version vs old wrt cutting the spindles and a really ambiguous step 14 that I interpreted as remove the locks, made me cut mine too short. Would have been helpful for the new videos to warn about the different cutting procedures. Now I have to find replacement spindles, which of course have no product number and only seem to come with replacement valves. :(
What are those orange locking things on the spindles, in there? My install doesn’t have those. 😭 I’m following the 14048 extension instructions, but step 1 shows some kind of locking things that didn’t come with the kit and aren’t already on the install already. Did my plumber screw up and/or how do I get those locking things? Thanks for such a clear and easy to follow video
Hi Eric, thank you for contacting us. On older models, the lock rings were used for cutting the spindles down to the correct size. However, the newer models changed the install and the lock rings are not needed. Instead, cut guards are required for cutting the spindles down to the correct size on newer models. - GROHE Social Team
Can you tell me if you cut the stems when their locked in or locked out position?

Can you provide more technical details regarding the volume control knobs? I am interested to know if these knobs can control from 0% flow up to 100% flow or if their range is somewhere in between.

Hello, did you get any help with this topic? I've got the same question, minimum volume of water is still way too much by default.
@@kasiatraveler6858 I never did contact the grohe customer service as they told me to in their comment. But I bought the shower valve anyway and installed it and I absolutely love it! My one complaint of course is going to be the flow control. However I think there is a solution. The volume flow can be turned down to zero using the individual flow control knobs but only before the cover plate is installed. Once you install the cover plate there is some kind of a stop integral with the knob covers. I have yet to investigate whether I can modify that internal stop to allow the volume to go down to zero but I suspect it is possible.
Can you press both buttons and have water coming out both outlets at the same time?

3:25 “little extensions”. Are they included? At what build out depth are they required?

Sorry if this question seems dump but may I know if the membrane functions as a valve seal? Or do I have to purchase valve seal separately for the SmartBox?
Hello! Thank you for contacting us! The membrane that is included in the Smartbox does prevent water from seeping through the grout lines but you will still need to caulk around the box once you cut flush with the finished wall. - GROHE Social Team
hello, i have installed a double and a triple rapid smart box. but the flow control function does not work on all of the outputs. For example, the identical hand-held shower is installed in both boxes, but the flow control cuff only works on one. Do the spindles come fixed in the correct rotational position? Or does the plumber have to ensure it is correct? I wonder if he has the spindle in the wrong position. Is this possible, and if so, do you have a video to show how to ensure it is correct?

We have a smart control with three knobs, the tub faucet pressure adjusts when we turn the knob but the shower and hand shower do not. What can be the problem?
What is the size of the 4 brass screws. Seem to have lost them and need to find replacement
I tried to test out the volume control before completing the installation. When I just turn the trim valve directly without adding the knob plate, the water flow can be reduced. However, once we put on the knob plate, it becomes no volume control. I have contact Grohe today, they have no clue on what's happening. From the below message, should I write an email and "Attention David/Alisha" on the subject line? Looks like your company has assigned a special team to investigate no volume control issue.
My volume control knob on the main shower also doesn't work. The side handheld shower reduces by about 50%

Hi! I must ask, I just had 2 showers installed (by profesionales) but I can barely adjust water pressure or temperature... Can something been installed in the wrong way in that case what? Does anyone else have the same problem?

Why are the service stops an "Optional" item? And why aren't they build into the rough in valve like most manufacturers? The rough in plug causes cross over too unless you install the not already installed plugs. Why leave the rough in plug with the ability to cause cross over at all? Seems like an oversight.

The green button holders do show when you actually use the buttons, are you kidding me?? On a shower unit that is top of the range and costs several hundred!
Could they perhaps be serving the purpose of indicating activated? Green = on ;)

Grohe shower valve and trim kits come with comically terrible instructions, if you could call them instructions at all. They are filled with exclamation points, icons with no definition, arrows that point vaguely to nothing in particular, and zero words to explain anything. Do the exclamation points mean to say Don't Do THIS! or MAKE SURE TO DO THIS! It's never explained. I've watched hours worth of install videos and NONE of them are of the particular kit I have come across.
My customer told me 4 previous licensed professional plumbers all came, spent a whole day messing with it...and just said they can't figure out what the instructions are telling them to do with the box full of tiny pieces that are apparently needed to operate a shower valve with diverter.
How about include a few words, or a legend as to what all the Mystery !, icons, & pictures are supposed to mean when making instructions for your overpriced valves.
