I loved this anime so much. The fact that each ability came with its own drawbacks was nice, may sound weird but I like that it’s not just about some power level. And the ending was gold. I also like when characters plunge into madness, like in bleach when ichigo got possessed by his inner hollow, or accelerator in a certain index/railgun/accelerator (bastard is just crazy on his own).
bruh i hate what they did to accelerator and his own anime. railgun is so well made but accelerator was just garbage despite him being my fav character. they also had to nerf him into oblivion just to make him balanced in the world because of how strong he was and his desire to get even stronger. they just did him so dirty its crazy. hes by far the best character in the entire show too.
At one time, I was impressed by the ending of this title and I want a sequel, although I understand that it will be an unnecessary distraction from the story.
The ending is actually very good. The best ending for a series. Although in all of those abilities he plundered, the possibility of one being eternal youth is very high since there is even one like reckless courage. All abilities disappear after puberty, but if he has eternal youth, he may just do this mission all over again 70 years in the future when Charlotte is coming back near Earth's orbit... . Well, there are so many story ideas that can be applied after the ending. Like he may become the protector of Earth from alien invasions or something. The powers come from a comet, it's not too weird for there to be aliens. . . I want to add, he should have a lot of contradicting powers. One where he sleepwalk with a different personality, to counter that is the ability to not sleep at all, but it still took a toll of his mental state maybe because he had a lot of other dangerous abilities and he didn't have a counter for all of them. Some abilities would probably even strengthen each other, it's such a mess.
Bittersweet in the end. The impact at the last part is not made significant enough. The final episodes of this anime really do hit a little bit harder knowing to the fact that our MC looses his mind and doesnt remember anything. Plus the massive twist in the middle is a very unexpected turn you do not see coming. Its very well executed. The descsion that was made not to save all of the main cast was a good one because it really adds depth to the story. This is a decent underated anime.
tbh i think that the ending is perfect and it doesnt need to get changed, but i think the anime REALLY needs OVAs or Special episodes showing us him getting his memories back slowly and growing his relationship with his girlfriend, and Ofc share a kiss, i think it would be so wholesome

I'm pretty sure you would go insane without any drawbacks from supernatural abilities if you had to visit tens of thousands of people located in different parts of planet, and "live" for 5 seconds as each of them, while being chased to death, all in a really short span of time and without anyone to talk to.

They say he was tempted to take a healing power but didn't... or maybe he did but just didn't use it to heal his eye. Makes me wonder what the heck thats all about and why he didn't use it... but also the end is strange cause he didn't just lose all of these abilities so he is basically a god ever evolving new abilities without even knowing of them. It is strange he didn't choose to heal his eye so he could use the time step ability though to more or less make taking every ability far easier and able to do so far sooner or something.
The part that was completely missed, was that the ability users getting hit by the "charlotte comet" were actually infected. The super human abilities were actually a byproduct and that having them was an illness. That's why he goes on a plundering spree stealing all the abilities. During the part with the healing, he started to doubt if he was "fixing the illness" by stealing the little girls' power to heal. I don't think they mention at all about healing his eye and going back in time. I do think this was also around the time he started to lose his sanity edit: He also doesn't get to be god mode at the end, the doctors actually can cure people who have been awakened, idk where he got his info from. He took the vaccine for it after he completed his mission
You're stuck at a crossroads. You're already half way through your mission but it is something where you need your eye sight. Losing his eye sight means the mission is over and a failure. You also have to remember that Shun is a case of where time travel doesn't yield everything you want. This is not like groundhog day where you can just keep repeating until you succeed.
Gotta be in my top 3 anime found this one in 2015 around the time it came out and it really got me into anime also changed my life frfr. This ending makes no sense to me honestly. When he came across a healing power he could've healed his eye, gone back in time with his ability to find a different way to solve the problem at hand. That's the realistic thing any human would do. One way they could've circumvented this ending I'm thinking about is: adding a catch to the healing ability like it being unable to heal the owner of the ability. I do love that the catch for his plundering ability is straight up amnesia and madness, it's a cool twist. But, another question arises though: Why didn't he take measures to preserve his memories? Things like recordings, notes etc could've been used when he realised that he was losing his memories. He had the little note thingie (the one he referred to as a good luck charm) and he didn't lose it so I'm sure he could've found a way to preserve his memories. Somethings don't make sense like: a. Why didn't the council try to from time to time make contact with him. Even just once in a while. This could've alerted them to the fact that he's losing his memories and a new plot point of the struggle between allowing him to go through with his decision or stopping him can play out. Through those visits they can take his tapes, notes etc and keep them for him for when he finishes the journey And I know the council could visit him at any time because they knew where he was when he plundered the last person and came to retrieve him. I love the direction they took the anime but at the same time I feel the ending was poorly executed. This is one of those anime that you can justify making a second season for.
