Sure, share it; if you can afford it then buy it. I always enjoy listening but I am broke for a while so... yay for leaks. And believe me I make up for it every time they play near me... VIP, merch, etc... and I have to save for months. Do I mind? No. Because that is how they make their money. Any smart band would do the same.

They can still offer up a different song [new music] even with the same song. Even remade several times, still sound new
It's the direction they started taking at The Marrow of a Bone and completed with Dum Spiro Spero. The Unraveling was basically a sweeping transformation of all their old songs into this new style. What kills me is I love both styles independently, but I'm not sure I prefer this being a permanent change.
Steven Dixon that would be relevant perhaps if Dir en grey was Death metal but considering their not and how diverse each one of their albums is within multiple genres I Don't think that applies.
Steven Dixon As an extreme metal guitarist that's been listening to and writing death/doom/black/thrash/etc. for 20 years, I feel Dir en Grey has easily and solidly been in the camp of what I would call death metal for the last two or three albums. It's quirkier and it's unique, but it's definitely death metal, and in a lot of ways is very much heavier and edgier than the couple thousand death metal bands still doing the same thing from the early '90s Florida scene.

Un-fucking-believeable. Dir en grey, once again, you cease to fucking amaze me. I was expecting the main tracklist for the EP to be better, but this fucking track, and the unplugged version of Unraveling and The Final, make up for all of that. This definitely blew me the fuck away. You never fucking disappoint. Never.
I'll also add that using a new chord progression in the final chorus with floating acoustic guitar melodies, rather than clean electric guitars, was a great idea. It gives the chorus a sombre, reflective air and leads into the spectacular outro section; ending as the piece began, followed by the huge 'symphonic' riff. I don't understand how a previous fan of Macabre could not only dislike this, but hate it. I'm not sold on Kasumi, but I think the other remakes are good, not great, but worth it.
I appreciate the part around 11:00 and ongoing so much, too. I have always liked "Macabre", but this version became an extremely dear song to me. I want to breathe it in - into every single cell.
MACABRE 「The Chrysalis Dream of a Swallowtail Butterfly’s Wings」 You dream of spreading your wings to the wind So ready to become a swallowtail You’d look so beautiful bound up in my snake skin …a daydream Rain pours into the ground, gurgling Unable to move or see anything Becoming bait and waiting for the spring to come …mouth open The insect, pupal stage, pumping it's wings Ready to fly out at any moment You look so cute now that you're finally grown up You who fell in love with all the flowers You’ll sip and sip on the sweet honey nectar Your desire… so that you don’t even notice me… …with fangs out- [I bloom ablaze at your love Towards the escargot and foie gras; intimate delicacy] Oh you, shaken, my beloved pupa That precious chrysalis had to be broken Don’t flutter your dirty wings and shake me from inside… …my stomach. . . {Your wings torn away Scattered, shaking, broken -what did I tell you? That my snake skin will feel nice… Don’t you just love it to death?} 「Beautiful captive mermaid, swimming in a pool of gastric juice Although your wings have been removed the pupa will grow them too…」 Spread those wings I saw while you were dreaming Soon enough, finally the wind can hit them My favorites - round and long just like the ones you have {Your wings torn away Scattered, shaking, broken -what did I tell you? That my snake skin will feel nice… Don’t you just love it to death? Life- A repeating answer Around and around As your twisted, warped and bent self Starts to fester and melt Shall we mix together as one?} 「As you are, I suppose I will allow it -but don’t you be a cruel and savage being You're forgetting to eat the legs lying upon the ground… ….no leftovers, please」
For anyone that reads this: it’s my own variation rewritten from multiple translations of the song in its different phases. I matched Kyo’s phrasing and melodies so that it can be sung in English the same way, and hopefully does his lyrics justice in telling the story the same way he intended. Please feel free to use this for your own covers or just for singing along! If you’d like to hear my own rendition, I’ll be posting it to this account soon after I perform it live. Follow and look out for it; thank you for supporting amazing music.
All i have to say is WOW! I've been a dirty en gay fan since i was a lad, hearing this remake mind fucks me. I am so use to the old Macabre. and this new version just blows my entire universe away. This song reaches a Spiritual level of Infinity. Thank you Dir en Grey.
Thanks for posting this. It's one of my favorite songs. I recently bought the original album this is from but, I've had it for quite a while now. I'm on a quest to have all of their albums in physical format lol
I wasn't a fan of the new Obscure, but this is mint. Dammit this band is still a favorite, 15 years from when I first heard the original version of Clever Sleazoid
I have their older music and still listen to ALL of their music, alternating between the old and new.. Yet I have to say, that I have no regrets in purchasing every release since Uroboros, Uroboros Remastered & Expanded, Dum Spiro Spero & DSS Limited Edition, as well as RINKAKU Limited & The Unraveling Limited. I had purchased both the regular & limited versions of these releases & find myself listening to these newer releases more often now. They've a lot of new fans since these released.
They still keep doing it. It's best to block the comments section rather than having your eyes infected by a cancer after reading comments like "It's more better than the older ones" and shit.
There is an interview somewhere where I think Die explains it. Basically they like to go back and pick it all apart and then recreate it with their current knowledge and skill level. Also, Kyo has said that if there was ever a point where he said "What I did back then was better" then he would quit. So they are fully aware that what they are doing right now is, regardless of what fucking fangirls and weebs think, lightyears better musically than what they used to do. Glad they refuse to pander.
Oh Chit while I, a hundred percent agree with you, and my love and appreciation for Diru and their art is always propelled with every album, have to disagree with you downplaying the, “faNgirls and wEebs” Most of the support ive seen, is actually by that demographic, in whatever sound the band encompasses. The fangirls mainly. Just because someone isn’t into dissecting and being a self proclaimed music nerd, doesn’t downplay their opinion or support of the music/band. Get off your high horse, man. Appreciate the art and artist and move on.
Or, you know, what's better is subjective and for some people their first 3 albums really had some magic. Now they tend to sound too much like every other western metal band which is a bit disappointing. I liked their older music because it wasn't so focused on being heavy. It was more of a vibe in that era. VK had a distinct sound. We lost that. That isn't to say this remake isn't good. It is. But if I could only choose one I'd go with the original easy.
I wish I knew what the new lyrics are. To the people hating on this track in particular, I have no idea what is going through your heads. The production is fantastic on this, everything is heard as it should be and the drums (excl the snare, maybe) sound really nice, as they should. During the first ten minutes, very little has changed except for the prog section being FAR more interesting to listen to. The additional 6 minutes are awesome, they've really refined the DSS sound.
The best remake in the history of music .
This band is even getting better. They never stop surprising me.

DIR EN GREY
MACABRE (THE UNRAVELING Ver.)
Dir en grey
Cold Rain
Masochism + Sadism

…mouth open
The insect, pupal stage, pumping it's wings
Ready to fly out at any moment
You look so cute now that you're finally grown up
You who fell in love with all the flowers
You’ll sip and sip on the sweet honey nectar
Your desire… so that you don’t even notice me…
…with fangs out-
[I bloom ablaze at your love
Towards the escargot and foie gras; intimate delicacy]
Oh you, shaken, my beloved pupa
That precious chrysalis had to be broken
Don’t flutter your dirty wings and shake me from inside…
…my stomach. . .
{Your wings torn away
Scattered, shaking, broken
-what did I tell you?
That my snake skin will feel nice…
Don’t you just love it to death?}
「Beautiful captive mermaid, swimming in a pool of gastric juice
Although your wings have been removed
the pupa will grow them too…」
Spread those wings I saw while you were dreaming
Soon enough, finally the wind can hit them
My favorites - round and long just like the ones you have
{Your wings torn away
Scattered, shaking, broken
-what did I tell you?
That my snake skin will feel nice…
Don’t you just love it to death?
Life-
A repeating answer
Around and around
As your twisted, warped and bent self
Starts to fester and melt
Shall we mix together as one?}
「As you are, I suppose I will allow it
-but don’t you be a cruel and savage being
You're forgetting to eat the legs lying upon the ground…
….no leftovers, please」
♥ I love DIR EN GREY ♥
I wasn't a fan of the new Obscure, but this is mint. Dammit this band is still a favorite, 15 years from when I first heard the original version of Clever Sleazoid
im drunk riht now but what a wonderfull song. i want to cry
I can't get over this. OMFG. Just bliss. Pure bliss...
How have I not appreciated this until now?
This song is fu**in gorgeous... Just awesome
This is pure Art.
This is my favorite Dir en grey song!
yes, i adore them as they were and as they are now. i guess our passion towards their music is powerful then others.
Oh Chit while I, a hundred percent agree with you, and my love and appreciation for Diru and their art is always propelled with every album, have to disagree with you downplaying the, “faNgirls and wEebs”
Most of the support ive seen, is actually by that demographic, in whatever sound the band encompasses. The fangirls mainly. Just because someone isn’t into dissecting and being a self proclaimed music nerd, doesn’t downplay their opinion or support of the music/band. Get off your high horse, man. Appreciate the art and artist and move on.
@@ahmedaamer618 bro thats exactly what he doing
That's pretty awesome. I feel like that's something plenty of artists face when they stop. Glad it's pushed them to ever-greater heights.
The improvement is key.
It is. But if I could only choose one I'd go with the original easy.
dir en grey's music and Beksinski's paintings are the best combination
This is a masterpiece.

I LOVE IT. this new version is amazing
I love you for uploading this
Masterpiece
This is just amazing, this is what I was expecting from dir en grey
That was 13 years after the original... Another four years, and we'll have one as long as Art Of Life.
I love covers. And a band making covers of its own songs!! :D
The autor of this painting is Beksiński. You have to check out his works. He is amazing.
0:00-16:18 OH. MY. FUCKING. GOD.
I almost lost it at the extension..Goddamn I love you guys!
