Went to buy a built table like this at Home Depot , so I look on RUclips to see how to treat it this vid was perfect and to the point by the time I got off the toilet
For anyone else wondering he used Valspar One-coat exterior stain and sealer - Transparent in Cedar Naturaltone. 1 qt size (946mL = 0.99 quarts). Thanks for the vid I'll pick some of this up in the morning.
@@laurakelly4297 I appreciated that he didn't talk. Got right to the point sans jibber-jabber! If one is really pressed to know exactly what he used, one can screenshot the product when he shows it and then simply zoom in on the image.
Where can I find Valspar One-coat exterior stain and sealer transparent in Cedar Naturaltone? I checked Amazon, Home Depot and Lowes, nothing. Thank you.
With a new pressure treated picnic table , should it be left before coating ? Was also thinking of using Ronseal ultimate deck oil, would that be ok ? Thanks
It"s been two years. Id like to kmow how it ages. Does he leave it out uncovered all the time, etc? UV is really rough, and rain is not so great either.
Is the sanding part like important. I have a picnic table that I got from home depot and the wood is a bit dirty but it’s pretty smooth as is should I still sand it down first or could I just apply the paint as is ?
Awesome video. I have an old picnic table that will remain outside exposed to all weather that I’d like to paint a design on but im not sure if I should do this step first & then paint my design after? Would that protect my painting from getting ruined by rain? Please help, all advice welcomed! thanks
Dood ! You are the man! ! I am rebuilding 2 and hope to salvage 1. I have been looking for your video to know what to use. How you end up using that ? How long since you did and is it holding up ? Great job 👍
Please show the can longer than 1 or 2 sec! Very frustrating since that’s the most important fact! Didn’t see if this was water base or oil base on can! Your friend, Barry
Does the valspar stain come off on your clothing after drying? I tried an oil base stain and sealer and sure enough it did rub off on my clothing a bit when I sat down even a week after applying, I even wiped off any excess like it recommends, so I had to strip the benches I made down and need to weatherproof them somehow. Just curious since valspar is water based? cant be having people's butts look like burn hickory :P thanks in advance
I unfortunately didn’t know this was a thing and left mine outside in the rain and California got a lot of rain so when I looked back there my table looked grey lost that fresh wood look but I learn from my mistakes and I’ll buy another or if it’s possible to just stain it or is it ruined 🥲
You can probably salvage it. Power wash to get any residue/biologics out of the wood. Let it dry, sand it down, then seal it with something that stain the wood to your desired color. So long as it isn't rotting and falling apart you should should be good.

Toilet bro.
One important thing I learnt from this video, paint the bottom first.
No he did it right, bottom only needs one coat and he gave the top 2 coats
@@GoogleUser-yj1wy I still would have done the bottom first but that’s me.
They did well regardless 👍
Yes. Bottom first. Minimum 2 layer of paint
@@GoogleUser-yj1wy How much time does it usually need to dry ?!
Agree, bottom first so you don’t scratch the top 😊

@frankgallego3782 Valspar Is a Loews brand so it should be there. That's where I got it from.
Straight to the point! Also, the lunch break scene really made this video
GREAT video! Long enough to cover the subject, short enough to keep it interesting. Thanks.
Thank you so much! I got a picnic table just like this from the hardware store. This video was short and informative.
SHE CAME OUT SO BEAUTIFUL!!!! THANKS FOR SHARING.
Thank you. The lunch break was a nice touch.
I think the favorite part of this video to me was the lunch break 😂😋. Good video and thank you
Thank you great video! How often would you do this, would i have to redo every year if it's kept undercover during winter?
I'm going to do this on my Wishing Well my husband made me. Great video 📹 👍 ty 😊
how is the table holding up? how often would you recommend re-applying the finish?

No bullshit, straight to the point. Thank you
thanks good video , says everything without saying nothing
what seasoning did you use for the shrimp?

I'd also like to know how the Valspar held up. I know that Thompson's WaterSeal doesn't even last a year. Don't know what product to trust.
Excellently done. I’m working on less words too👍
heading to lowes now, thanks , great video!

always sand it down
Nice. My only question is....wouldn't it be better to the underside first?
Loved ya through the BBQ in between. LOL
Can the Valspar product be used over an existing (different) stain/sealer, or only on bare wood?
Everyone should make their video like this..thanks.
How do you advise protecting the feet from rot?
How often do i reapply over the years?
Any maintenance every season and has it held up
Thanks for the video! Hopefully can restore an old picnic table...Do have a question...any special seasoning on those shrimp 😉
Could I paint on top of the sealant?
Is the sanding needed or is that just for a look?
Is this product appropriate for a surface for meals? It contains several hazardous components.
Nothing was said, but so much was communicated! Thanks, this helped me a ton.
NICE, Thanks👍

What about a topcoat? Spar urethane?
I want to paint mine, what do I use? Thanks!
Great hyper-lapse!
Job Done, no messin around 👍
I like this build!😊👍🏽
Can you still add paint over this or is this final once you had the sealer?
You are funny. Thanks for great video!
Nice job.
I find that varnishes, stains and oils look great but inevitably the rain and the sun takes its toll. Best thing, do it then buy a good cover.
I got a playground for my kids but would like to paint it. Could I paint it and then add this weather proof?
Did you sand the underside?
Looks like the one i bought from Home Depot. Mine lasted 5 years with weatherproof seal.
Thank you sir.

it doesn’t get on clothes 👍🏽
nice table, I'm looking at building one. the dimensions you have look awsome! what size wood did you use?
I'll be right over for lunch.
Thank u!
Should leave a gap between boards, going to trap moisture with them tight
He didn't build it, just sealing it.
The wood will shrink over time.
A hand plane goes faster and gives a better finish on softwoods like SPF
I want a video of making this table
Why didn't you send underneath side why didn't you treat the boards before you built the table
Is this food safe?
Very good question. I read the data sheet on the manufacturer’s website and it’s not reassuring!
orange?
😂 lunch break
Isn't Valspar B&Q 's own brand...? I can think of better brands!
Those look like Bubba Gump shrimp 🦐
You should sand the whole thing
Yes!!!!!
Update please
Didn't even use a tack cloth
Good video but too orange looking to me.
You didn’t seal it !
What the heck is that stain? Oompa Loompa table.
Pagal
I wanted a 2tone contrast n didn't find it so if anyone seen one
should have left gaps between those boards
