@houstonmuseum This looks like a sizable baleen whale fossil jaw bone, and the picture you presented suggests that it was something like a bowhead whale. Do you believe it was a bowhead whale and if so, do you have any opinion as to the size of the whale?

Animals get swept out into the ocean for a variety of reasons, perhaps there was a flood or tsunami that caused that particular species to be swept away, if it can happen to people and animals in the modern day it also probably happened back then.
