Thank heavens. I have been asking you to react to Tina Arena for about 2 years now. LOL!! There is just no return after you dive into her artistry. She is incredible.
Donna Summer hand picked Tina to sing the Barbra Streisand part in the Enough is Enough duet in her 1999 VH1 concert. The two of their voices was amazing!!!!
Tina's a great Aussie talent. Obviously she can't dance to save her life but her voice is phenomenal. And it's gotta be said, for a room full of professionals, this was the most disengaged and unsupportive audience ever considering the performance given.
Another Great reaction like every time ! It’s funny to hear you “feel” a Lara Fabian vibe from the very beginning of this performance since these two women know and made public statements about the fact they appreciate each other… In fact they have many things in common and they crossed their path numerous times in France during the first decade of 2000’s : - The both are trilingual in the same languages : Italian (their common mother tongue), English and French. - They have been highly influenced by these languages (and recorded songs in all of them) at different level and in different times of their respective carriers. - They wanted to be a singer since they were little girls and worked hard to become A list singers. - The both have a burgeoning carrier in USA but never really reached the stardom there. - The both are their own author, composer and was managed by their former boyfriends before a big clash at the peak of their celebrity and decided to take control of their own destiny with success - Both of them needed to expatriate themselves in another country to gain a new breath becoming a star in the french speaking world and beyond… And I could go on.
you're so right about that dead audience bro... 'cept Celine... she rockin' in her chair. I think at the time, people around the world didn't really know Tina as much as Aussie, so they're probably trying to figure her out... loved this song.
I agree. There are similarities with Lara Fabian in those lower notes, and the suit she's wearing as well as that hairstyle also helps to associate the image between the two :D
😂😂 Loved this reaction from you. You'll be pleased to know Tina's original recording is pretty similar to this live version but obviously the live version packed more of a punch (especially in this dead crowd). To offer some context, I think the very restrained and reserved (dead!) audience was due to the presence of the Prince of Monaco who is the patron of the event. I would say they were kind of on their best behaviour....I'm just glad that Tina was having none of it and performed her ass off regardless!
@@starlight0002 Yes fair comment 😊 A combination of Tina not being as well known universally as Celine and MJ (although she's very popular in Australia and France - the point of the ceremony is to celebrate and showcase the best selling artist from each country that year), but also many in the audience which included other artists, celebrities and VIP's/dignitaries who looked like they were at at a wake barring a few head bobs and toe taps 😂😂 . I mean she was singing her butt off and trying her absolute best to get them involved and engaged in her performance - she deserved a better response than what she got.
Found the full version! Better quality as well. So! She actually Won an Award right after this performance for Best Selling Artist in Australia! Full speech and all, enjoy! There’s also some cheering and more Celine going crazy for Tina! ruclips.net/video/9kmN_TMYQfY/видео.html
She is just ....wow.... She reminded me of Lara indeed with Celine tones here and there and I don't even know her.... I have a new homework to check out
Great video thanks for sharing! I think in terms of the dead crowd, indeed, it was more that particular crowd rather than it being the 90s - the WMAs were definitely for the elites, held in gitzy Monaco, and more focused on the models and celebrities on their red carpet etc. So glad those awards are no longer held... (Lord knows music crowds were pretty wild back in the 90s otherwise!)
That video does not show Tina's full performance and the audience reaction at the very end of the song View it again from the "full" World music Awards video
You should watch her recent performance of this song at the Aria awards with The Veronica’s and Jessica Mauboy, it shows how much she’s matured. ruclips.net/video/nIAOJl4f5Ps/видео.html
Yes, you’re absolutely right. The local audience was far more connected with her and the respect for Tina from The Veronicas and Jessica Mauboy was palpable. I’ve never seen Tina look as elegant as she did then and she moved beautifully too.
Lara Fabian vibes? Not the voice tone but yes so many commonalities: - they share italian roots - they both aren’t french but are stars in France, they both used to live in Paris area - both are very humble, benevolent, down to earth - they both were denied access to US market after some initial success and some postiive buzz, but for different reasons - both are stars in other countries as well She was the one singing the main song of Antionio Banderas’ Zorro movie and her tone there is more pleasant IMHO
Is it because of what the audience were hearing? When it fades out, you just hear the raw Tina on stage. So what I'm saying is, we're listening to the TV production. Amplification and compression.
The whole of Australia just wanted to punch that audience out for being so rude all but Celine as she was the only that love her they have been great friends ever since. You should react to this song when she was Inducted into the ARIA hall of fame in 2015 she shows everyone how its done.. 🧐😊🇦🇺
You should watch the official video of this song. She has a completely dead audience here. Nobody can give their best with no response from the audience.
Typical Americans, They wouldn’t know talent if they feel over it, Maybe they were in shock she was actually singing. They were mostly artists not many actually sing when on stage
Will never understand what was going on in the 90’s in the U.S. when it came to their music and talent producers who completely, I mean completely bombed out in the area of their supposed expertise, when they had the chance to promote, but idiotically lost Australia’s big three, all in the same decade - namely John Farnham, Jimmy Barnes and Tina Arena.
I LOVE this performance and so did Celine. The rest of those corpses were undeserving. That song is so bomb, Tina has many other great songs.
corpses?
The rest of the corpses🤣🤣🤣🤣GOLD🤸🏾♀️
Lol accurate comment 👍
Don’t get me started with THAT audience!
She’s a legend! Great reaction! 🔥
Wait till you hear more, especially live. Cheers.
That crowd was boring as hell….felt sorry for her tbh. She’s an amazing singer.
watch her in the "full" world music awards video the audience were blown away by her
No auto tune.
She deserved more international success.
Thanks for reacting to her. It might bring more people to her voice & music.
When vocals Mattered to the industry ❤

That's funny because I watched that episode of Seinfeld with Elaine just last night.
You should watch when Tina sings this with Jessica Mauboy and the Veronica’s …. AMAZING
Her Dont Ask record is a classic that always brings me back to my childhood summers

full video of the music awards shows an outstanding response from Tinas audience
Tina arena is my fave australian singer ever 👏❤️🙌🏻
I've always loved this song!
Tina came out and slapped the audience all up the side of the head and they didn’t know what happened.
Tina is like an explosion. She has a confidence on stage that few others have. It's a complete package, just watch. I love her.
Omgggg I love this!!!!!!!! Celine is watching her too
Still kicking butts today 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻go Tina
they were being thoughtful to the lyric : wondering of them SELF : it is a moment : AND Tina is just lovely

I never thought about that! Prince of Monaco makes sense now. Celine’s face validated every single note! 👏🏽👏🏽 they’re close friends now.

Watch the full world Music awards video This one cut her short at the every end where the crowd gave her an outstanding applause
That audience was full of rich people, celebrities and even royalty.
That’s a tough crowd and Tina just laying it all out!
I love her live performance of "Enough is Enough" with Donna Summer on her VH1 special from 1999. I agree, her tone is very similar to Lara Fabian.
I saw these awards when they first aired. MJ was there that night and he performed Earth Song.

They knew they were seeing and hearing a woman with massive talent and they did not like it.

She wrote and recorded this song in the 1970s.
The look is like Kate Winslet of the time. Bloody hot.
She reminds me of Tamia..
Do you realise this is the original version of this song? You reacted to Matt Corby’s version as well, which was 🔥
Please react to because you loved me celine dion at the WMAS 1996
This is so old but THE PASSION is irreplaceable. Also dead peeps in the audience - grow a soul FFS 🤦♀️
