Thank you so much for making this video. I had the same issue with the steam coming out the other side and I chickened out and turned it off thinking I was doing it wrong. Now I feel confident to try again😊

I picked this up on Prime Day for $85, I couldn't pass it up! Literally JUST started (and now finished as I tidy this up) this first run procedure, and decided to look around for info because it was taking FOREVER and I was worried something was wrong. There wasn't anything wrong.
    ----
My findings for first run instructions (my elevation is 500ft, YMMV):
    - It took 30 minutes for the water to boil hot enough and the lock to set. It's half-way filled (and I left the trays in to clean/sanitize [note I'm not saying sterilize]), so it takes a while for that water to get to temp.
    - Once locked, it took 5.5 minutes to get a steady pressure of steam.
    - 20 minutes starts NOW.
    - I originally turned my burner down halfway but even after 5 minutes it was still allowing air out, even though not a ton of steam was coming out. I wanted to practice trying to get to normal operating procedures by standardizing the temp... More below...
    - I eventually turned the temp to a third gas, with 14 minutes left on the 20 minute timer. It stayed at pressure the entire rest of the time, and air stopped escaping. This isn't SUPER important because you're basically heat tempering the unit, not actually cooking/sterilizing. When you are using the unit to cook/sterilize, you want pressure to escape every few seconds, it could be difficult to get it dialed in given the giant size of this 22qt container, and the contents you may have in the unit!
    - After the 20 minute timer went off, I put it on steam setting to release the pressure. CAREFUL that you don't have your hand over the operation valve like our nice host!
    > Don't lower your setting! You lose pressure FAST when you do, and it'll take a minute or so to get back!
I'm expecting when I go to use it with ~2qts in the bottom, it'll take much less time to get to temp and faster to adjust.
While air (doesn't have to have steam) is coming out, it's still under positive pressure even if the gauge reads 0 - a lot of heat and steam will come out when you open the lid!
If NO air is coming out, that means the air pressure has neutralized, and possibly gone positive as it cools and some items can be contaminated at this point if your jars aren't verified as sealed.
    -----
WITH EXTREME CAUTION AND KNOWING I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE, AND YOU CAN GET HURT .....
I stood about 1.5ft (46cm) above the steam as it let out pressure and got a nice facial and cleared my sinuses 😅😅

Hi, i have same T-fal pressure canner too. I saw you missed some step. First we added water ( minimum 2 quarts, usually i added 2.5 qts), put your jars in, close the lid, leave the knod in “steam” mode. Turn on the stove in high heat, let it boil, you will see 2 steams come out from both holes. Let it boil for 10 more minutes to let all pressure in the the jars out. Then turn to number 2 for canning. Wait until you see the steam come up steady at number 2. Then start set timer for whatever food required for your canning.

I have done lots of pressure canning but just replaced my 20 year old Presto canner with this one. TFal's terminology is a little different from Presto's .
