@@leedlelel2373 I think a really twisted and better ending would have been to show one half of Olivia's body alive showing she survived, but then slowly reveal that she's fused with another half of the body being evil King Olly. Almost like Two Face from Batman. This ending could have made Olivia the future antagonist, with her having lost memories.
I just finished up the game and... Wow. There is so much that’s good about it and this is my first paper Mario game and it was so emotional and I love how they leaned on good writing and some memorable times to make up for the apparent limited character creativity. The battle system was great both for bosses and no. I loved the scenes for the final boss and enjoyed exploring everything and each place. I think people need to give this a try, even if they disapprove of the direction of the series. :)
Where Super Paper Mario was the end of the first trilogy... So ends the second trilogy with The Origami King. It's a good a send off as any... ...But can we please go back to the formula everybody has been waiting for over a decade now?
Super paper Mario was my first paper Mario game and I loved the story and it made me what love truly is because I played it as a kid, this new story is also a good story besides the 2 games before it and I would love Nintendo to go back to this kind of formula but at the same time I would say not go into it that much because it will simply get boring if the same similarities happen to often in there games
Yes please. I never played an rpg paper mario game because everyone online sells them for $900 for just the case. And since _Mario and Luigi_ is dead, and “old” _paper mario_ is dead, they’re always free to start a new rpg series
This was the first paper Mario game I’ve played since 1000 year door that I’ve absolutely LOVED. the characters were adorable, the dialogue was hilarious and I loved the puzzles. The battle system was a bit tedious, but still good. Also, Did anyone else start singing “i see the light” from tangled when the lanterns started floating? No? Just me? Okay.
If only Olivia was more specific on her wish. She should’ve said “May all origami folded by my brother be undone except for me”. Then maybe she could’ve brought back Olly with her memories and Fold of Life. Olly went through heck and it wasn’t entirely his fault either. It’s actually not allowed to use color or paint or pencils in the art of origami. I kinda blame the Origami Craftsman, but he also felt like putting love in Olly. So in a way, it was really a huge misunderstanding for everyone. So much emotions and sadness was put in this game. 🥺
@@Tree_Gamer Surprisingly I didn't either and I cried like a baby in Skyward Sword when Zelda seals herself. I think the music and the writing in that game got me harder.
This game blew away my expectations. I loved the original and Thousand Year Door. Was not as big of a fan of Super Paper Mario and never played Sticker Star or Color Splash. The battling system has a learning curve to it but once you figure it out it’s actually pretty fun and unique. The bosses were also fun and character development was extremely well done. Olly wasn’t really that strong of a character but the final boss fight was good. Olivia was a fun tag along and I was seriously pissed when you lose Bobby. The puns throughout were also great.
Glad someone similar felt the same! Shocked how many said they didn’t like it. I loved 64 & TTYD, I tried super paper Mario and found it hiring tbh. I didn’t bother to try sticker star or color splash. I got this and was shocked how much I liked it. Very cute, funny, nice graphics and story, and U liked the allies!
Just beat Origami King and dang was this game good. I was super excited when Peach came back and thought "I can't wait to see Olivia talk to Peach"...and then the sadness came in
I just beat this just now, and I don't think I will ever get over when Olivia sacrificed herself to save everyone. Just as I was about to stop crying, this cut scene played and when the craftsman recreated both Olly and Olivia happy.... I'm still tearing up as I type this ;__; God Bless this game
I read so many comments saying Olivia sacrificing herself wasn't necessary because she could have worded it so she could still live on, but has anyone overlooked how during the whole game she just wants to stop Olly? She just wanted to talk him out of it in the beginning, then learns she probably has to fight him and ends up doing it - in the end she regrets using such a powerful attack on him. You do realize that she basically killed her brother? Though she did grow as a character she was still a child. She didn't want to live on without Olly, she was mourning him and used the wish to erase herself because she was full of despair. She really didn't need to sacrifice herself at all. She could've lived with everyone else and everything would've been fine - this isn't bad story writing, this is showing Olivia's despair. She committed suicide.
TBH I was really expecting the Fire Vellumental to come back stronger after its death in both fights it is seen in as an enemy. It is a Phoenix after all.

There is no such thing in BotW, the game end when you defeat Calamity Gannon, you can play your save before you defeated Gannon, but it's like you never beat him.
wow now I'm really sad because that was one of my only problems with color splash. I actually enjoyed the game but got so pissed when there was no post game and brought you back to the final boss. I wanna see closure with all the worlds by talking to them, I'm sorry but a cutscene is not going to make me feel 100% completed with the game.
I would love if at the 2 still origamis at the secret ending, the origami of Olivia would move ever so slightly like blink or raise her arm a tiny bit right before the screen fades to black. It would give the audience a more hopeful feeling yet not be too sappy.
Secret ending huh.. Im curious did nintendo added a *bad ending* as well? Cause that would be great Edit:Wow thx for the likes and replies but you guys i see comments talkin about the first commenter
I never had a Nintendo Switch, so I watched ZackScottGames's gameplay. I waited and watched long enough to get to this video. And it was totally worth it to watch the whole thing before getting to the end. And let me tell you... I don't know how others feel, but I can be sure that those who genuinely appreciate the game, including me, will want to play the game all over again, even if it takes tens of hours to complete the whole gameplay. Lots of reasons to my explanation, but mainly Olivia. She is a great partner compared to every other partners in the Paper Mario series. Every experience with her throughout the game - a mix between delightful and depressing moments - is way too epic, that it may not be even possible to entirely ignore, forget her and move on. As a spectator, I don't have the feelings as much as those who actually play the game, it's enough for me to want to cry... Playing the game again is like going through the memory lane. Those who hate the game just because it's nowhere alike TTYD will never understand the feeling. Also, Nintendo is a genius even with all those restrictions. Since Sticker Star, these restrictions have damaged the Paper Mario franchise badly, but somehow, those who worked on The Origami King made a breakthrough even with these restrictions.
The saddest thing is these new characters never come back again for new mario games, like Mallow, Geno, Goombella and now... Olivia, once in a lifetime experience with these guys.
No matter how you feel about this game, you can't deny this game is made with so much love and passion, which is more than you can say about all the cash grab garbages out there

I'm praying for a new ending for this game right now... *PLEASE NINTENDO, I'M BEGGING YOU-*
I really REALLY wanted a better less tearjerking ending to this amazing game!
Yes im hoping they do dlc and make some secret ending where olivia and olly show at least one hint of life
SpongeBob 6798, what’s dlc mean?
@@leedlelel2373 I think a really twisted and better ending would have been to show one half of Olivia's body alive showing she survived, but then slowly reveal that she's fused with another half of the body being evil King Olly. Almost like Two Face from Batman. This ending could have made Olivia the future antagonist, with her having lost memories.
@@BestKingChin O FRICK YES ANOTHER FEMALE MARIO VILLAIN WOULD BE SO FRICKING AWESOME

I think we all came here just to cry together
I just finished up the game and...
Wow.
There is so much that’s good about it and this is my first paper Mario game and it was so emotional and I love how they leaned on good writing and some memorable times to make up for the apparent limited character creativity. The battle system was great both for bosses and no. I loved the scenes for the final boss and enjoyed exploring everything and each place. I think people need to give this a try, even if they disapprove of the direction of the series. :)
this is the saddest happy ending ever
RIP Olivia. 😢 “And iiiii will allways loooove yoooouuuuu.” (From the the song “I Will Always Love You” by Whitey Houston.) 😭
@Mofter Mof no u
The normal ending was so sad :(
Even the secret ending. She could at least blink of wave.
I miss you Olivia.
No? Just me? Okay.
17:24 The way Mario dodge Olly attack' s is so badass...
Well for a paper that is
If only Olivia was more specific on her wish. 🥺

First time I actually cried.
YOU DIDN’T CRY AT BOB-OMBS DEATH?!?!?!
@@Tree_Gamer Surprisingly I didn't either and I cried like a baby in Skyward Sword when Zelda seals herself. I think the music and the writing in that game got me harder.
Sean Skribovski
I cried during this scene and Bobby’s 🥺

Yeah, except those are inanimate versions of them
I read so many comments saying Olivia sacrificing herself wasn't necessary because she could have worded it so she could still live on, but has anyone overlooked how during the whole game she just wants to stop Olly? She just wanted to talk him out of it in the beginning, then learns she probably has to fight him and ends up doing it - in the end she regrets using such a powerful attack on him. You do realize that she basically killed her brother?
Though she did grow as a character she was still a child. She didn't want to live on without Olly, she was mourning him and used the wish to erase herself because she was full of despair. She really didn't need to sacrifice herself at all. She could've lived with everyone else and everything would've been fine - this isn't bad story writing, this is showing Olivia's despair. She committed suicide.
THIS MADLAD!
Bobbys death made me cry along with the deaths of Olly and Olivia ;-; RIP you beautiful creations
Fun fact: The Origami King's helmet in the ending is similar to Yoshi's Crafted World's helmet.
In the end of paper mario the person that helped Mario disappears like in paper mario colour splash. RIP Huey Olivia: who is Huey??

i just finished the game myself. sucks how there’s no “after the final boss” time. is like botw. still 9.9/10
There is no such thing in BotW, the game end when you defeat Calamity Gannon, you can play your save before you defeated Gannon, but it's like you never beat him.
@@JOVAHK11N That's what he said.
There's no "after the final boss", same as BotW.
(He did word it a bit poorly, though)
"after the final boss" is trypically referred to as post-game.
@@SchrollShepard I misread, I was sure he had said "unlike BotW" whoops
wow now I'm really sad because that was one of my only problems with color splash.
Cause that would be great

This is literally the most Awsome final boss fight ever in a Mario game
Olivia: may all the origami folded by my brother be undone!
me: wait doesn't that include you, Olivia?

Well I’m never going to get 100% completion, so I’ll just imagine that this happens offscreen.
