I have a $1000 BGE but NOTHING makes better whole chicken/turkey. The only part I had to adjust to was it is fast. 12 min a lb instead of 20, skin comes out like chicken 'potato' chips and even the white meat is juicy! I feel different now but when I bought it 4+ yrs ago I loved it so much I bought a standby because I thought it would have the traditional 3yr life of a 'value priced' grill. The BGE gets cover and a smoker and....my 3in1 lives outside. It has some rust now, the smoker box sticks a little and it doesn't truly smoke but....I am going to make the most incredible chicken this afternoon in my 4+ yr old 3 in 1 and think my cost per use is 38 cents. OUTSTANDING value.
I've had mine for two years, and I totally concur, this is a monster for roasting chicken. I like using pecan chips. It's also great for burgers and wings.
Yo dude I just want to say thank you so much for putting the quick gist of your review inside the description, a lot of RUclipsrs don't think to do that and it really helped.
I LOVE my RSG...if you only cook chicken and turkey it is worth it. 10-12 min a lb and it is the BEST!!!! I do use it a lot and I have many grills to choose from on my patio. After 3 yrs my only small complaint is the smoke chip holder. I worked my butt off to find this when I got it and I bought two cause I wasn't sure I would be able to get another when #1 wore out. A rare product that provides way more value than you expect!!!
I agree, for poultry alone this grill is money well spent. I like it for a lot of things, especially for quick burgers or chops on a work-night. I can say the same about mine, the only issue I have (and it's a small issue) is the smoke box door. Thanks for watching and commenting!
WOW! AWESOME grill! Next time I'm getting the 3 in 1 for sure! You even got the FREE accessory! So many layers & it all looked so good! Thanks for the review!
I have 3 issues with my Big Easy SRG and this may be why they don't make it anymore. 1) Cooks to fast even on the lowest setting. 2) Smoke chamber just has a hard time getting going. 3) Cleaning the grill parts sucks, specially the enamel painted grill. I found if you turn the fuel knob on the grill toward the off position (you must look at the flame and adjust toward off, but not too far or it will turn off) then you can actually get the smoker heat down. The smoking part just sucks, because if you have the flame down low so you can cook low and slow, it's not enough heat for the wood. I think they should have made the removable smoke basket at the base with a small flame to start it. I never tried a turkey, but I don't think there is any way, just cooks too fast if you want it tender. I wouldn't get another one.
Poultry is the only thing I use this for now. It does roast chickens or a turkey very well but there's a few conditions to that. The top has to stay open, the temp can't be cranked all the way up (even tho the book suggests) and whatever you rub it with can't have sugars in it. BBQ sauce is OK in the last couple minutes only, because just like sugars it will just burn on & turn black. I agree with the 3 points you made, especially the fact that the enameled grill is about impossible to clean. Thank you for watching & sharing your thoughts!
That looked soooo good! I don't think I have ever seen red potatoes that big and the chicken looked so tender and juicy. With a basket of fresh vegetables. Oh man I am so hungry now and it is almost 1am. I should not have watched this video so late. :-)
I still have this, but it only does poultry now. As a roaster/oilless fryer it works fantastic. As a grill it works pretty good, but it's tough to clean the grate. It isn't a true smoker; it won't burn low & slow like a traditional pit. But it works well for small roasts & gives a nice smokey flavor. Thanks for checking it out!
The food looks Great ..Thanks for the video on it ..This would be a big purchase for me but there may be one in my future I like all the stuff you can cook in it at one time
I've had mine 3 plus yrs now..finally top grate rusted apart..i miss it sooo bad...found a grate for 30 bux..found a whole new grill for 75 on zeek...inc Shipping too..I'm prolly gona buy another..i paid 90 for the 1st one at Bargain Hunt..i wish ida bought all 3 they had..they were gone when i went back
I am just about ready to retire this one... nearly 3 years old. It will still get used, it will be serving a different purpose though. I will miss the chickens it kicked out!
With mine, no issue with assembly that I recall just follow the instructions. I've cooked ribs on it and learned yes this cooks super fast. About an hour with a dry rub rack of ribs which I learned to hang on side of basket. I ended up using copper wire as hooks cause I didn't have the rib accessory which I will order. Again this cooks fast, just really set on high to get wood chips fired up and smoking and turn down after ten or fifteen minutes. Then cook on low. I'm doing a turkey today on low and will anticipate for fourteen pounds it will be done after 1.5 to 2 hrs. max. Turkey comes out nice and tasty. Yes do recommend this product.
That's what I've been doing, but it will still seems to build up faster than regular grill grates do. It's not a big issue though, I still love the SRG
If you take a look at my other vids on this channel you'll see I'm not real big on doing things the traditional (or even the correct) way lol. I do still have this little rig & it's still working great. Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment!
I love this damn thing. Sorry it's so hard to find now. It takes a bit, but once you work out the bits and bobs, I can cook anything in or on this thing. I will say, brisket, not so much. It doesn't get the lower temp that you need.
I got that at Walmart if I remember correctly. I wouldn't recommend it though, it had a non-stick coating on it that didn't last 1 summer before it started peeling off.
I still have it & will say it has held up very well, no rust issues at all & still works like it did when it was new. That said, I haven't used it much at all since getting the pellet smoker.
@@oldchevy4x4 yes I turn knob and its clicking...what do u think is wrong and where can I buy it and can I troubleshoot this,,I love it.....so sad...lol
Just because it's clicking doesn't mean it's sparking. You'd have to pull the inner liner out so you can see the burner, then click it & look for a spark from the igniter. Other than that it may be a plugged up burner - spiders & insects find their way into the little holes & stop them up. A small piece of wire can be used to open each hole back up. If it's not stopped up & the igniter is sparking it could be a regulator issue not letting propane thru. Disconnect the LP tank, connect it again & slowly open the valve. It may do the trick.
I filmed the assembly, but when watching it back in editing too much of it was out of frame... couldn't see what was actually going on. My advise is to hand-tighten the hardware until the whole rig put together and sitting level. Most importantly the lid... make sure it is closing right and then go through and tighten everything up.
Hey Old Chevy, I did have a question about the big easy. Did you season the grill part that comes with it? I haven't seen anybody talk about this. Thanks!
I did season the grill grate along with the stainless drum. I did not season the turkey basket or any of the accessories. Thanks again, and I'll answer any questions as best as I can!
The book does not have a time chart, instead it gives a few generalized times... 10 minutes/lb for turkey, 15 minutes/lb for chicken, and 30 minutes/lb for larger beef or pork roasts.
This thing is poorly designed. The smoke box gets stuck and you cannot get it out. really terrible desing for such a simple thing. I went through 2 smoke boxes in my first 10 uses. Then threw this thing out. save your money!

Thanks for watchin bud!
Very good video bud!!! We do appreciate the great content keep them coming!!
Thank you sir!
I am impressed , putting this one on my wish list!
Thanks for stoppin by!
Wow that was an intense and thorough review. Wonder why CB discontinued it?
Not sure why they dropped these, I still have & use this one.
Thanks for checking it out, Lew!
This was the perfect video to watch on a Friday afternoon just before dinner....time to go fire up the grill - I'm hungry now!
I'll be cookin' up some cow here in a few minutes!
Thanks for watchin!

Thanks Rooney!
Looks awesome, I have Weber from America, hope they export to our country. Will be a winner
I don't have a Weber, but I have cooked on one... they are great grills!
This new one does very well, I'm happy. Thanks for watching!
Easy a good video. Just left how to start.
Thank you for checking it out
The food looks Great ..Thanks for the video on it ..This would be a big purchase for me but there may be one in my future I like all the stuff you can cook in it at one time
We don't do much indulgence shopping, but when I do it's always something to cook in or on. Or a new tool for the shop ;-)
Thanks for watching!
I know if I had one I would be cooking a lot of stuff in the summer just to keep it cooler in the house and not using my oven
It seems to be a good unit. Enjoy.
So far so good!
i was hoping you would disassemble the thing and show the inards

I think you will like it, mine is still working well.
Thank you for watcing!
That all looked great! Awesome cooker!
Thanks much!
You are quite the chef. thanks
Man, I love cooking!
You were just cooking all kinds of stuff on that thing lol!!!!!!!!! Made me hungry!!!
Buddy I've been putting it thru its paces for sure!
Enjoyed your video!! Very good review.
Thank you for checking it out!
I'll add that this is still being used & working well.
Got one not too long ago. Still have to put it together. :)

This thing turns out some great birds... turkey & chickens are hard to beat!
clean it while it's still hot or with a cool cleaning nylon grill use the brush without heat though and aluminum for the hard to get off stuff.
That's what I've been doing, but it will still seems to build up faster than regular grill grates do.
It's not a big issue though, I still love the SRG
I knew you'd knock it out the park! Sweet video
Thankya sir!
Great review. Thanks.
Thanks for checking it out!
Oldchevy driving a Toyota? Lol. Not much of a review in traditional sense, but cooking multiple types of foods and methods, very nice.

I already own 5 grills/smoker...but what's one more! lol nice review
This makes #5 for me... You can't have too many cookers!
Making me hungry Danny!!!
Aloha
Thanks Chief!!
No burn in to get the oils off ?
Absolutely. I ran it on high until it stopped smoking right after assembly. I think it was around 35-45 minutes.
Where did you get your vegetable basket?
I got that at Walmart if I remember correctly. I wouldn't recommend it though, it had a non-stick coating on it that didn't last 1 summer before it started peeling off.
@@oldchevy4x4 thank you. It looked awesome!
Looks great! At least you made me hungry!!
Thanks!
Omg I just got me one. That looks hella fukn goid
awesome it aLL looked super good
Thank you sir!!
How well does it cook steaks??
Not nearly as well as charcoal or direct gas, the indirect grates don't get hot enough for a hard sear.
I'm worried about getting the temp low enough on this grill for true slow smoking. Will the Big Easy get down and stay int he low 200's?
No sir, it will not run low & slow. On the lowest setting I'm getting 325-330°
Did you season the grill before your first cook?
Yes, I did an initial burn off to remove any manufacturing oils and then seasoned it with Crisco.
So You still use this? And how do you like it after a couple years?
I still have it & will say it has held up very well, no rust issues at all & still works like it did when it was new.
That said, I haven't used it much at all since getting the pellet smoker.
where did you get the coupon for the accessories
Very Nice !!!
Thanks Gerry!
I have mine for 2 yrs didnt want to start this time..propane full..wtf. any ideas
Is it sparking when you click the igniter? The igniter may be bad or just corroded & unable to produce a spark.

I got it together with little problem. Once I sat down and examined the parts and guide I figured it all out
How long does the one tank of propane last approximately.?
I'm not sure, maybe around 18-20 hours total running time. I
Great video where did you get you accessory coupon?
Thanks for watching!
I got the code for the coupon at Retailmenot.com

looking at getting one for the camper does it come with a cooking time book
The book does not have a time chart, instead it gives a few generalized times... 10 minutes/lb for turkey, 15 minutes/lb for chicken, and 30 minutes/lb for larger beef or pork roasts.
Where did you get your Char Broil?
Truth be told, I bought this from a late-night infomercial lol.
Cool
Thanks!
Dang near starved me ta death man that looked goooood :)
I sure do love cooking!
Man you know how to eat LOL. All that cooking was it on the same propane tank .?
All that cooking, plus another round of burgers & a round of porkchops on 1 1/2 tanks. So far it seems pretty efficient.
No Chevy Truck? Bud, that is not 'murica..
There's a GMC sitting right next to it... does that count?
man you're breaking that son a buck in right....
Yessir!!
You didn’t show how to start the Grill!!!
The instructions for assembly are worse than bad.
Old chevy 4x4 but a Toyota is in the background. Tragic lol
As soon as GM produces a truck that lasts as long & carries value as well as a Toyota... I'll buy one ;-)
