In case of any Maintenance/Activity
a) OS patching
b) System Upgrade
c) DB scaling
What we do, we firstly make these operations on Standby Database then connect our front end application like FB with this Stand by DB by which it becomes primary DB now , and then perform patching and all with the second DB (which was primary earlier and now has become stand by) . on the whole outage wouldn’t take place
While
In case of Version upgradation of DBMS
The outage would take place as the version upgrade would happen on primary and on Stand by both at a similar time .
For example - consider we were running mysql version 8.0.28 till now and now we have to upgrade this version to 8.0.30 , so it will be applied to both the DB (primary and stand by) . on the whole outage would take place .

Hi sir , Thanks for such a wonderful Lecture .I have a question ..like in previous lecture you have said without fail over we can't access standby RDS, so how we apply patches/update in Standby first then move it Primary. Shall we need to make standby RDS as primary first ?
User cannot access (read/write)Stdby DB inst,OS Patching and updates from AWS only.

As you mention "Outage Occur" when the back retention period change from 0 to 35,
is this happen in both "stand-by" and "stand-alone" case
At 18:39 , will it take incremental snapshot daily or will take full snapshot daily ?......... At 26:26 got your ans, it is like incremental :)
Dear Sir in this video at 6min you said any changes such as upgrade scaleup and os patching must be done on stand by DB but as far as remember in the previous lecture, you said we cannot access stand by until it becomes primary. It seems some conflict here. can you elaborate on this? please explain ASAP.

Bhupinder Ji.. I understood that Aws does the patching part not the user, but in order to do patching or Os related work, the user has to instruct AWS right ?
So, where and how are these instructions sent to AWS for doing the work on standby ?

But the answe is
When we create the snapshot from primary instance the snapshot is created automatically from the standby instance not from the primary one
Sir Pls Make some videos of full big companies like Face book LinkedIn Netflix type of server architect for a example to complete on small or big project aws configuration so that I can work in any new company to migrate the on-prime data to aws cloud pls sir I mean High availability architect of aws cloud
In previous lecture, you said, standby can only accessed directly in case of failovers, then bina failover hue, how can we do patching directly on standby?

yes, we can via email.
sir DB engine upgrade manually from console is easy, but with api and cli is bit complex and difficult it replaces the existing and creates new physical id, and in real time u may not have access to console. can you please throw some light around it
